My prediction of Fenlon being the 1st manager to get the sack are getting closer by the match.
He has the same problems as he had with Shels at the back last season. Also, Farren is wasted with the system he plays. I cannot see Derry winning anything this season under such a poor manager. While Gorman's track record is getting sacked from a 1st Div side.
Pats looked good but Derry were so bad they made Pats look good. The structure of the team has been destroyed similar to what he did at Shels. Looking forward to a Harps-Derry match in the cup. Easy;)

I dont think he'll get the sack but his idea of only having one up front without Farren has to change if they want goals. They only had one decent goal scorring chance.
Cant wait for the Derry/Linfield match next week,a loss there could be the straw that broke the camels back.

Agreed.
Most of the threads on the City message are dicussing why we played 4-5-1 at home. Tony Gorman claimed it was 4-3-3 but he appears to be only one who believes it........
City fans were spoiled by the swashbuckling style of SK for the last two years and are finding it had to adjust:(

Ehh i would firmly bet on sean connor being the first casualty, just as poor results, huge expectations and a very fickle fan base.

Looks like its going to take time for things to click into place. I'm not a fan of Gorman as an assistant, Hegarty was the man!! We miss Killian Brennan and Gary Beckett badly. Once Brennan is fit, we will have McCourt playing in a less restrictive role or on the right.

I'll take that bet. How much are you willing to bet?
PS. I'd say Sligo have had more managers than us in the last ten years.

And Dermot Keeley is the father of total football
Christmas must be horrible tense in the Keeley household
Some observations as a neutral.. Derry's players have got used to a certain style under Stephen Kenny and don't look capable of playing a more football minded game. Molloy and Martyn are excellent at what they do but aren't the type of players to open up a game, hence McCourt has to drop too deep all the time. You need different players to play a different system. Having watched Pats 3 times this season, I've been fairly impressed with their attitude and effort. They're still a typical Pats team, set pieces and hit you on the break but it's doing the job at the moment

Make no mistake Fenlon is a winner he will sort Derrys problems out. There is only 3 games gone the real battles wont be for weeks

Don't think you're giving Pats enough credit there. People are only too ready to dust off the old "Set Piece Athletic" cliche (see Felix Healy) but we have, in my opinion, the best ball playing midfield in the league at the moment, or are you saying Ndo, Fahey and Kirby are hoofers ? Having said that, I know we scored from a set piece last night, but it's the first one out of fourteen goals so far. Last night wasn't our best footballing display of the season by any means, it was more of a grafted win, but in other games we've played some sublime stuff.
Tony D.....shhhh keep it to yourself, I've personnally amassed a small fortune availing of some massive match odds about Pats wins this season

If he can't beat a makeshift Linfield XI - ravaged by suspensions, injuries and international call ups - on Monday night, he deserves to be sacked!! ;) :p

Looks like Linfield Makeshift XI are going to win the Irish league.. congrats in advance!
As regards Fenlon's position at Derry .....it's only three games in there is a lot more football to be played and it is still possible for all 12 teams in the Division to win the League or qualify for Europe . Isn't this talk of manager's getting the sack a bit premature?
I mean I know if Boh's aren't winning 6-0 by half time the fans call for the manager's head. But they are the only Premier League team in the Northside ... so they are demanding :)

I will confidently predict that it is impossible for Longford to win the league this season.
I don't care what the maths says...... :D

Granted it's unlikely but by the same token... they are not relegated just yet!:ball:

I'll hold my hands up if I'm wrong. I've seen Pats three times this season and Ndo has been poor imop, and that's down to the system, also imop.

Well thank you for that insightfull piece of information, you have really lifted a great weight off my mind.
Maybe you would like to follow up that statement with the reasons for our managers departures. Cause lets face it, we must have chased and hounded, willie mc stay, lawrie sanchez, steve cotteril, sean connor all out of the club. Or maybe we bring through quality managers but they use the club as a stepping stone to greater things, eg lawrie sanchez. These managers were not harassed and abused at games, they left of their own accord. A noteable difference with your club. Just look how long the club put up with Don O'Riordan, that just says it all.

So what does that show, that you are content with being a nothing club with no ambition while we want our club to be successful and can see through spoofers. Apart from Kenny any other manager has not gone on to anything bigger than Bohs after he left, Roddy, Mahon, Farrelly or McGrath if you count his five games. Try going to games abroad and see how failures get treated, I will never put up with spoofers at my club and am happy that other Bohs fans feel the same. As for managers I would say not only Sligo but at least half if not more clubs in the premier have had more managers than us in the last 10/15 years.

I will give everyone on here a tenner if Derry win any Cup under Pat Fenlon this season.
The rubbish signings in Dave Rodgers and Greg O''Halloran (not to mention Karl Bermingham) are mind boggling. Furthermore his inability to secure a decent keeper during the close season leaves a lot to be desired.
Derry will concede twice as many goals this season under Fenlon. Last season under Stephen Kenny Derry had a 100% home record for most of the season. This season they have lost their 2nd home game. That says it all really. How much will Derry fans tolerate?
