1.drogs
2.liverpool
3.ireland
what is your association to LFC robbie?
while i personally would vote Ireland and then GUFC i can understand people voting (en masse as above poll suggests) for their local club who they support week in week out, but Liverpool before your country of birth?????
not WUMming here just curious how an English team would attract a higher sense of association/support than your own national team?

Club without doubt.
Go to the Ireland matches but would know very little about the players as I don't watch or even read about soccer cross channel

I used to be Country over Club GH. I can remember as a kid in the run-up to Italia 90 posing myself the hypothetical question - if someone said to me Ireland could win the World Cup, but only if Derry didn't win anything for a decade, which would I choose ? Back then - I remember thinking I would want Ireland to succeed over City.
Recently, however, the international team has just waned in importance to me. A big factor in it was City's UEFA Cup run last year, as that really put into perspective how much City and Irealnd's relative success actually means to me.
As a result, in the space of 2 season's I've gone from a fan who went to loads of Ireland away games to one who can't really be bothered with the international set-up any more. But I'd go to the moon and back to see a City match.

I noticed some of the people who voted 'club' are missing there EL team's game this weekend because they're going to Ireland's game in Slovakia. Care to explain yerselves?:p
I don't think it's impossible for someone to express club over country and still miss one or two league games per season for internationals.

I voted country when this poll came up originally, but I would definitely put club before everything else if asked now.

I'd prefer Dundalk to get three points in Newbridge on Saturday than Ireland to do the same in Bratislava. I'd still be gutted if Ireland lost even after Dundalk winning so thankfully supporting my club and country aren't mutually exclusive (as this thread seems to imply at times) and I can hope for six points! :D

I do now.
I was livid when Limerick FC was finished becasue I thought that was the end of limericks involvement. Thats why I've taken an even keener interest in L37 and go out of my way to support them in whatever way I can because I dont want a shock like that again.
If it should ever happen that there is no senior team in limerick thats the end of it for me, it wouldn't have the same meaning to follow Cobh or some newly promoted junior team (even if it was a Limerick team).

this thread is a bit distorted, i havent been kept up to date with it but i can guarantee that there are a few here saying CLUB and there over there now at the ireland matches when there are matches on in the LOI here tonight....
we had this thread on our own forum and a poster here and over there said ''i dont know how any of ye can chose your country over your club'' and where is he now?? not in galway anyway for our big clash tonight!!

While I agree with the sentiments, there are plenty of people who choose going away and drinking with amtes ahead of either club or country

I always thought to myself I was a Man Utd (Roy supporter) supporter first then a Ramblers supporter until they played a few years back. I went in my Ramblers colours to see Roy play but couldn't stop shouting for Ramblers. Makes sense now why I stood in the sleet and rain for years watching them play ****e! Hopefully I will have something to make it all worth while in a couple of months time. The First Division Title.............:o hopefully anyway......
1 Ramblers
2 Man U
3 Sunderland.............only since this time last year funnily enough.....
4 Ireland............The two Cobh Stephens making it more appealing...........

its hard to put a finger on it mate,
Not hard at all ! The answer is you have no connection to liverpool...... :D
;)
After last nights debacle is it any wonder why we would rather support our local teams!!
To all 26 people so far who voted for the 2nd option - Ha :D
:D
Also in other randomly amusing me news in this thread is dcfcsteve's consistent ahem misspelling of cupcakes :D
