Birmingham? Fupp off man. Why in the name of God would you want a little club like that up? Derby... Burnley... Preston... even Leicester would be preferable.

Agreed

In fact there shouldn't be any Birmingham clubs in the Premiership

Joke of a footballing town :p

Now now, Villa have had more success alone than the city of Sheffield combined. :)

Thats hardly Wednesday's fault, I'd look at that shower from Bramall lane for the cause of that.

Anyway I include Birmingham on account of them being the richest club in the Championship, and whilst they didn't get bailed out of relegation by an American (eh SLK) they could still offer a lot to the Premiership. Although that is assuming Bruce gets the push as a condition of promotion :)

Gotta love those Americans. :) And all Birmingham City have to offer the rest of the Premiership is a handy six points. They're a second tier club.

Well we all need a whipping boy, like Liverpool are to United, or Ringo was to the rest of his Beatles

What can I say, watching the Premiership years on Sky One has made me all nostalgic for the good old days

Maybe they could get the guys the FAI got and relegate Reading, Wigan, Watford, Fulham, Sheffield United and Portsmouth :)

I'd leave Sheffield United there for the Sheffield derby and bump the other 5 and bring back Wednesday, Wolves, Forest, Sunderland and Leicester and you'd have a proper Premership again with clubs with decent support.

Just as long as the second Sheffield derby that season is the game in which they get relegated back to where they belong I'll go along with that :D

Did you see Whelan's two goals against Southampton? Both class but the 2nd in particular was a volley from outside the box which was as good as anything you'd see in the Premiership.

I did indeed, as I told Lim til I die, I rate Whelan's second strike as high as Paul Scholes volley on the same day. Still even that was eclipsed by Crossley's stunning header! :)

All in all though we're looking good for the playoffs at the moment I think. The game away to Stoke was a real test of whether or not we can sustain this push and we passed it with flying colours. Can't believe I get to say this again but I'm optimistic about Wednesday's future!!!!

You're young. You'll learn ;) Home defeat by Hull and draw in the cup with Man City. Nice to hear Whelan's interview before the latter saying he has no regrets about leaving City. He has certainly blossomed again. Now, can he and the Owls maintain it?

Good game last night against City. However, alarming that Vassell seemed to be able to get through on goal at will. Ireland scored for City but wasn't impressed with his overall performance. Like Whelan he gives the ball away too much: some nice touches but gets caught in possession on too many occasions. Dunne did well for City who look a very average Premiership side while Graham Coughlan missed a great chance for Wednesday just before half time and was caught wanting for pace on a few occasions.

Great support for Wednesday (6k) and now it's Mr Keane at Hillsboro on Saturday. A 6 pointer to try and get back in play off contention.

Great showing by the team, really showed why we are a class above Sheffield United. Where they play hoof ball we at least try to keep it on the ground and have a go. You're right about Vassell getting through though, although when you consider Vassell's pace up against that off Coughlan and Bullen he was always going to get chances. To that end I reckon if we had Bougherra fit we might have won the game.

Good to see the travelling Owls show Premiership fans how to sing for 90 straight minutes too. Now lets go get that playoff spot!! :)

The performance of the Championship sides (Cardiff apart) against their Premiership rivals certainly puts the Owls performance in the shade. Birmingham stuff Newcastle 1-5 being the pick of them. Hunger will win over ability a lot of the time.

Very sad news is that apparently one of the lads taken from the canal, Shane Coughlan, is a brother of Wednesday's Graham Coughlan.

Feck.
Very sad. That looks a bit suspicious to me.

The Wednesday 2nd and 3rd goals against Leeds this weekend were class. If Rooney or Ronaldo had scored Brunt's goal, we'd never hear the end of it.

Nice layoff by Whelan for the 3rd one.

Brunts hit quite a few crackers for us this year alright. Great to send that shower from Elland Road packing at Elland Road, hopefully that will make them realise they are heading to the hell that is League One :D

They most definately are.
Don't believe they are amazing goals though. Stack is utter cack for all three.

Still a keeper being poor for a Rooney goal has never stopped Andy Gray from verbally masturbating over him

Totally agree.
Just pointing it out.
Young fella at Elland Road won 100 pounds at half-time. The announcer was out in the centre-circle and asked him what are you going to buy out of the money.
"Leeds a new keeper."
Cheeky fecker.

How could he have saved the third? Lovely move with great one touch football. And for the lob, Stack was only off his line because the Leeds fullback lost possession and not that far at that. To lob a keeper he has to be off his line and it's a great goal, certainly better than the Beckam lob we've seen repeated over and over again, especially when you consider the pace Brunt had to put on the lob.

Risteard

How could he have saved the third?
By not falling down, standing up instead and reaching out to his left to cover his near post.
Seriously, watch it again.
Not being smart.
It was right in the corner but not a hard rasper of a shot and at an angle he should have been covering.
Look again, he just dived on the floor.

Thought it was about time to resurrect this thread on the basis that the mighty Owls are only two points off the playoffs! And to think Owlsfan that most of us weren't sure about Laws when he took over!

I honestly think that we can get promoted if we can get something at Birmingham next week!

ya you support two soccer teams that really when was the last time they won a thing:confused:

I'd hate to count the Munster Senior Cup, so I won't, so with both clubs its the League Cup. Still could be worse, we could be Cobh supporters :D

"Get something" isn't enough. Need to win at Birmingham and then the final game at home and hope most of the 5 teams above in the play-off places lose at least one of their two games left. It's a tall ask but who knows?

Well we're the Championship's form team at the moment after Saturdays results, so who knows

Results team ok but not form. They were blessed to beat Coventry (who hit the bar twice) and in the previous home game against Ipswich, it was another lucky 3 points but hey, who's complaining?

p.s. Wednesday don't do miracles so don't get your hopes up too high.

Any three from 7 with Wednesday as the outsiders having to visit Birmingham but with Stoke having to play Colchester, one of those can be discounted. It's all so close with teams dropping points left, right and centre.

Who knows :ball: ?
