Has anyone played 4-5 seasons yet. If so, do any Irish guys really come through, am thinking Stokes, Garvan, Clarke, McShane, Gibson?????
In my Ipswich game Garvan is v v reliable and scores lots of goals with his head (seems to play liek Tim Cahill)

Signing Jason Byrne for Bohs is a sackabe offence!! :D
And stop making things easy for yourself! (Giving yourself the land money, swapping the euro qualifiers!) ;)

Thing is with Byrne - I had a news item pop up saying the Shels fans couldn't wait to get rid of him - calling him a bad person or such :D
So fickle :D
BTW: Lost that game to a 92nd minute goal - and the penalty they had was confirmed as a wrong decision by the FA

Just got the game. Never had one of these games before (well not since CM3) finding it hard to get to grips with. I can't seem to find the arrange friendly button. The manual says that all I have to do to arrange a friendly is first click this button, but I can't see it anywhere. Am I blind or is this not as obvious as it seems in the manual?

And its bloody annoying. My first season with Derry a vital league game was set on the same day as this game. My game in hand , 1 point behind the leaders. 8 of my first teamers were called up and i lost 4-0 to UC bloomin D.

Bummer. Luckily I am managing Athlone so I'm not likely to have that problem for a while.
Lads, in the data editor of fm2007, is there a way to change the prize money of competitions, and add or increase tv money?

I've highlighted that and the fact that Mullingar Town get added to the League in the second season despite no-one yet making any kind of appplication to join in the official SI Forums
The Central Research for our League is, quite frankly, appauling and making me reconsider playing the game at all...

Darren was in a position which obliged him to make his best guess as to the identity of the next club admitted to the eL. The alternative was to leave it at 21 teams in perpetuity.
I think the research is pretty good, particularly if you knew the agonies Darren had to go through to source stuff like player histories. My biggest issue is with the evaluation of LoI players as a whole, but that's something decreed from on high.

Aye, but it's still bloody thrilling when you lift a trophy. Research is poor, I remember my mamoth Galway game in fm2006 about 25% of the squad were in totally the wrong positions. Left wingers as DCs and so on. Total rage.
Aren't you a researcher? Any plans of starting to research Bohs and the likes or are you stuck with Worchester?

In that case I would have left it as 21 clubs - adding a team in when nothing concrete has even been considered in real life makes it a bit of a joke really...
It's like adding Harchester to the Premiership on the basis of a TV Programme
I know him personally and he does the best research possible. But when the governing body and practically none of the clubs help out, what can he do?

Thing is though - guesswork and assumptions do not make for accuracy, etc.
The one thing which is unforgivable is the issue with the cross-border matches (last played 5 or so years ago) - you'd think that someone with an interest in the league would be able to pick that up and resolve it?
Nothing against him personally btw - but he should be picking that kind of thing up and resolving it.

I've started a new game with Bohs. First season, started in July Bohs were 5th. Have taken them up to 2nd with 5 games to go, 4 points behind leaders Cork. Can't see myself holding on though as I've a lot of injuries including Hunty and Wardy. Hoping to at least finish 3rd. Won the league cup too but was quite fortunate in that got easy draws until the final where Shels had a man (Honkins :D ) sent off early on.
Vinny Arkins has scored 16 goals so far this season!!!
Pretty remarkable then considering I haven't been able to sign a single player.

Yes - you have to register
However - the Off Topic section of the board has a pretty thriving eircom League thread which is just coming to the end of it's 2006 stint.
We need a few more heads contributing to it - so if you register - make yourself known to us in there:

On my infernally slow playing game with Waterford United, I signed Karl Bermingham and Gareth Farrelly who were both unattached, just prior to the start of the season, and they are currently my top scorers with 4 and 5 goals respectively in late June.
Oh, to have had two players this season with more than three goals in the real world!
Very easy to get friendlies in the new version, I find. I tend to take on Russian giants like Rotor and the full houses mean that I'm sorted for money, but I'm still shagged for a transfer fund .
By the way, does loading the new patch mean that I'll have to start a new game again?

No you won't need to restart. The patch I presume comes with a new player database, that will not be applied to your game however.

I am part of a FM site which has the logos for it :)
Also we are looking at making the Eircom League and First Division more realistic cause I also put into on the SI forum and it was ignored.
So If you all want to help me in making the update that the site I am with more suitable for you all to play and closer to realism please let me know!
Or if a mod sees fit can I start a topic asking questions that I require answers for?

I've been playing as Ireland manager for a bit now, trying to get in Euro 2008. and I'm disappointed that there's a lack of media and player interactions at international level.
At club level, you are constantly linked with players - I had to deny a link to a United reserve player when managing City to get the fans back on my side! - but when the same thing happens at international level - e.g. Michael Reddy goes on a scoring streak and the press start calling for him to be called into the international squad - there's no option to say something like "he is a player I'm interested in", "I expect him to be in my next squad", "not while he's playing at that level", etc. Other things I've noticed are that you can't praise/condemn your next opposition or comment on a game after it's finished - barring the odd controversial incident (penalties/sendings off/etc) Also when a player plays well in a game, you can't release a media story praising him, you have to wait for the press to come to you and ask your thoughts on him. Is there a reason why this was omitted or is it just simply time constraints meant these all had to be removed from the international management part of the game so it could come out on time?

Just unerathed a real jem.....eddie johnson....plays in america....not the best stats but will score u 30 a season easily and only costs around €2million. I bought him for Everton, got top scorer in premier league, both cups and in the uefa cup in the 1 season!

Former United striker isn't he? Think one of the lads had him on loan when he was Hartlepool and I was Wednesday in FM05 and he did a job for him there too

Signed James Hoad, 17 year old goalkeeper from Watford. Broke him into the team gradually and he's now the best keeper in the league by far.
Also signed a young striker called Stefan Kofi from someone in England but I forget who. He's shaping up to be something special.
Also got DJ Campbell from Brum and Alan Quinn from Shef Utd, both on free transfers.

For Bohs? Good signings alright. I'm managing Wednesday and was offered Alan Quinn back for free from United, and out of sheer blind hatred for the man in real life I couldn't bring myself to take him. His stats are good in the game though

Yip. Couldn't believe I got them. Campbell is rocking the league, not just with his goals but the amount of assists too. He draws markers away from his partner (I rotate between Ward, Kofi and Stephen O Flynn) too. Quinn took some time to get Match fit after I signed him and Joxer was on fire so there was no automatic place for him but Joxer got injured so he's getting a run now and doing well.
