View Full Version : How far is your home ground?
On the way into Dalymount last night heading in St Peters entrance saw some guy walk out of his house and into the ground, he was living at least 50 feet from the entrance (assuming he wasnt robbing the house :p ).
I know one guy on Emmet Road who has the same ardous task in getting to Richmond (tbh he can see the games out his bedroom window)
I have to travel about 3 miles to Richmond, one bus 78a stops outside the ground so its handy enough as traffic always going the other so takes me about 10 minutes from bus stop to turnstiles.
How far do others have to travel to get to their home grounds?

About a good 500 miles I think:D
Half an hour to get to Station Road for Kildare matches and 15-20 mins when I was in Cork to get to Turners Cross.
Good idea by the way.
5 mins drive for me. Brandy is about a 1 1/2 mile from me if even

Tbh thats exactly what i was thinking when i seen this lad leave his house, altho the move improves the club at what cost? I wold prefer to stay in Richer and wallow in mid table medicority and win a league every now and again then leave (another thread i know )

About 15 mins. Funny thing is that when Drogs new ground is complete it will be 15 mins in the opposite direction. BTW - announcement in Drogheda tonight that contracts have now been signed for the purchase of the land for the new stadium. Progress at last.

A train to Liverpool Street, tube to Kings Cross St Pancras, train to Luton airport Parkway, shuttle bus to Luton Airport, Flight to Galway Airport, cab ride to Terryland. About 6 hours door to ground.
Looks like all flights for next Friday (v Dundalk) are booked out though and Thursday evening (returning Sat) looks like approx GBP 200 :( and I'd still have a further GBP 23 on the trains too

Was 5 minute walk. Now if I'm home it'd be at least 45 minutes on a bus (20 minutes if I'm getting a lift). Usually come from work (via pub) and its 10 minutes in a taxi at 7.30 now

when i lived in the city i used to walk for about 50 mins to get to Rathbane, but that was back in the smog filled dull sunday afternoon LOI days. Now i drive about ten miles takes about 5/35 mins depending on traffic and lack/large amount of traffic cops ;)

While I was in Cork I could have lobbed a stone down into the Cross from the house I was in.
15 minute (8 mile) drive to the RSC carpark, 3 minute walk to the ground if I don't bring the season ticket. I probably park outside your house tawdy!

Unfair question - the Shams fans must be totally confused as to what a "home ground" is. :D
(Just kidding lads - I liked Glenmalure, and joined the halftime onfield protest when we played you in the Cup semi all those years ago).

Ok if I come from home I have to cross the city in Friday evening traffic, to be fair reverse commuting the first half of the trip. I am 7 miles from the city centre and it's about 4.5 miles to Belfield from the Point ( if I use Eastlink).
About a 35-40 minute drive if the traffic is not too heavy and if Leinster are not playing in Donnybrook.
If I leave from work I am in the North Inner city workwise. Five minutes walk to the bus. I usually go to the Montrose for a snack so it's about 15-20 minutes walk from there to the ground.

80 mile round trip
I travel from Newbridge to the RSC which is just short of 90 miles each way I think . Easy drive except for getting through Carlow on a Friday evening.
Used to be 25 miles each way when me and the brother drove to Kilcohen Park.
