Just keep giving the ball to McGeady, he's been absolutely brilliant.... or something to that effect according to Paul Merson. Preston trail Ipswich 1-0 however.

its the doomsday scenario for the anti mcgeady/pro Horgan bunch! Fantastic to see mcgeady playing regularly again. Really think he will be a creative force for us for the next 5 or 6 years playing more centrally . He is maturing as a footballer think he used feel the need to beat players constantly before . Amazing ability

It really is. The greatest thing to happen on transfer deadline day for many a year! Delighted for him and, yeah, he's still only 30 so hopefully he has a lot more to contribute in green.

Yes it is . Now if Darron Gibson could get himself a loan move and play my life would be complete !

He's only 30.. Christ. Maybe he'll get better as he gets older? When he was younger and quick he was almost too quick for his football brain and that would show with erratic end production. If the pace diminishes and the football brain improves then he can be quite a force. As Daryl Horgan said he was blown away by McGeady's ball control when he trained with him. He'll never lose that.

McGeady burst through the middle and set up Horgan for the cross much like he did against Italy in the Euros.
On a side note, check out Preston's no.10 celebrating well before that goal is scored. Talk about confidence! :)

That's Jermaine Beckford, Eoin Doyle's old pal. :) Pity the highlights only show McGeady making the initial pass, would like to the burst through the middle.

Goal and assist for McGeady as Preston lead Brentford 2-1. Tom Field has opened the scoring. Cunnigham, Browne and Horgan all started too.

Football fans can be a fickle bunch but that's great to see. A far cry from his Sheffield Wednesday experience, delighted for him.

As a mark of the ultimate highest respect, that thread title on the PNE forum was belatedly corrected to read Aiden.
I suppose there are other forums which have to deal with there Trickeys.

Two crackers from McGeady (left & right) and a nice assist, a bullet header from Field and a nice finish from Horgan...

Class all round from the Irish contingent. I've been really tough on McGeady over the last few years but I'm eating craw big time here. Great to see him in such fine form. And Long may it continue.

For my money, McGeady should be given a free role against Wales given the unbelievable form he is in right at the moment.

If the Irish team were to be picked today (for Wales game), I would be looking at this based on current form:
Randolph
Coleman Duffy Keogh Ward
Arter
McGeady Hendrick
Hoolahan
Long McLean

Wow. That McGeady second goal was utterly sublime. Horgan's goal was absolutely brilliant for his first for Preston but I'm afraid it's so overshadowed by McGeady's.

His confidence is up which is great. He's played well for Ireland over the past couple of years and now he's replicating it for his club, as we all hoped he would, dropping down to Championship.

Has to be a possibility with Brady suspended and O'Neill seemingly having a soft spot for McGeady. I'm not sure he'd be adventurous enough to have Hoolahan and McGeady in the same line-up though.

Probably not. He may indeed opt for McCarthy. But I would say McGeady has to get the nod to start and if Wes comes off the bench it's a helluva option to have.
Horgan coming off the bench is also a nice weapon to have.

Long McLeanGlenn Whelan with a sumptuous pass on zsaturday too. Ok, one pass was all they showed on MITd but man, it was a classy pass!
Randolph looked a bit lost for West Ham unfortunately. One through the legs happens but he got utterly lost under the corner that led to WBAs equaliser.

I wonder where McGeady10 is now, the man (boy) who started off this thread ? He hasn't posted for 7 years since McGeady left Celtic for Moscow. I can feel the pain in his very last post.
Great to see McGeady recapturing a bit of form although I have to be honest - the standard in the Championship is fairly gash. That said, his goals were great and it can only be good for us that he is performing well. Whether a few goods games for PNE are worth a start for us - debatable.
As regards mark12345's team, no room for Ciaran Clark, McCarthy and Brady ?

Brady's suspended. I'd definitely start the other two for what it's worth.

And the assist from Greg Cunningham.
Also a nice, smart assist front Coleman for Gana's goal for Everton. Coleman has been excellent.

With McGeady on such a good run currently, should he be in the starting XI against Wales? Or still an impact sub, just given more time?

I'd seriously consider starting him. Is McClean's starting place in doubt? I love the guy and the passion he brings, but unfortunately he hasn't started for West Brom in months so has no real club form coming into the Wales game, despite being one of our most crucial performers so far in this campaign. McGeady may well be favoured in place of him and it would be hard to argue with such a call.

McGeady can also play on the right or in Hoolahan's role. I can see both McGeady & McClean starting. 4 of McGeady, McClean, Wes, Long & Walters will start I reckon. Murphy in with a decent shout too.

I think he'd have to drop Hendrick back to partner McCarthy for this to happen, or indeed drop Hendrick completely, neither of which I can see happening but you'd never know. Come to think of it, he did go down that road against Italy and France in the Euros, I kind of had it in my head that the last time Hendrick played in a midfield two was Glasgow. O'Neill usually springs a surprise or two and he does seem to have a lot of time for McGeady, so who knows?
It's strange, I'm probably one of McGeady's biggest fans on here but I'm not sure I'd start him for this one. I think McClean has made himself updroppable and I really wouldn't want to lose Hoolahan. McGeady has never been as effective on the right either.

Great boost of confidence for him and well-deserved by the sounds of reports I've read/heard and clips I've seen of him in action of late. Brilliant to have an in-form McGeady in the armoury again as we approach the Wales game.

From the highlights tonight on C5 he had his best game yet today, one turn in the area made his marker actually fall over.
