Technically an assist I suppose, but the forward did all the work.

They lost 2-1, wasn't 2-2. Terrible own goal for the first, lovely free for CSKA's second. McGeady's assist is just after 1:50 here:

Typo by me - should learn to check my typing before I post.

Thought McGeady was absolutely brilliant today for Spartak's game against top of the table Zenit. Thought he was desperately unlucky not to get a goal of his own. Spartak now have an excellent chance to secure Champions League football.

Spartak are going to be playing Champions League football next season after they won 2-0 and CSKA slipped up. Aiden with both assists

I was going to say something similar. The second assist he put across first-time was exquisite. Great technique to pin-point it.

Not at all. McGeady sent over 2 average crosses.
The other 2 Spartak players were left with all the work and had to use all their guile to stick it into the net.

Both find their men. The corner goes right into the danger area at the front post, while the second is a first time cross that is pulled back well to find his man. If these aren't good crosses, I'd like to see some examples.

I think geysir was being sarcastic there alaskafox.

A bit Machiavellian, he is misunderstood. :)

Ahhh i missed that. It's hard to know sometimes, but I'll always defend Aiden. Unlike Stephen Ward.

I think it was a parody of Dunphy and Giles' analysis of Andrews' goal against Estonia, assisted by McGeady, of course.

If it was anybody else but McGeady, then I'd regard the crosses as, beautifully balanced, wonderfully weighed, perfectly executed, sent on a platter.

I didn't think the corner was a great cross but the second one is absolutely perfect.

+1.

I thought the same, the attacker really had to work to get good contact on the corner. Superb header rather than a great cross.

I think the 2nd one might have hit a bobble as he was about to cross ;P

He certainly had me fooled!! Saved me replying to him!!

However for the first one you have to give the credit to the
guy who made the header, I think you have to try quite a few of those
before one goes in.
Second one was decent cross, just requires a half decent header and it's goal.

it was better than decent. It was a peach - right into the only bit of open space where the attacker was running. I honestly believe his final ball is better when he doesnt have time to think about things.

Yes, decent was a bit understated, it was top notch, pretty much the perfect cross and it looked so effortless.

Credit to both, the cornerkick could not have been better and the header was sublime. It was a well worked set piece which came off with perfect precision.

If Chelsea win the CL then Tottenham go out of the CL play off and apparently Spartak and Braga will both be bumped up, from 3rd qual rounds to playoffs for the CL.

I genuinely can't decide if I want Chelsea to win the Champions League, because I hate the vast majority of their team, or Spurs to go into the CL next season because I point blank loathe the manager

from another site...

"As Trapattoni’s Euro 2012 squad are packing their bags ahead of their arrival in Dublin over the coming days, one of the twenty three in particular will be buoyant mood. Spartak Moscow’s Aiden McGeady was today named in the Russian Football Union’s list of top 33 players of the 2011/2012 season for the second time."

3 players for each position, gold, silver and bronze.

McGeady took the silver, the highest prize earned by a Spartak player.

I'd find it hard to hate Redknapp to be honest. I find his interviews refreshing, rarely critisising referees, other teams or factors outside his own sides control. He's also pretty witty. Spurs are the best side to watch in the Premier League in my opinion. I know your reasons for hating him are more than likely because of his dodgy dealings, etc. but I don't really know a whole pile about that side of things.

I want Chelsea to win, as it will mean McGeady's Spartak will be more likely to make the CL group stage. Champions League group stage experience, and the different styles of football and different conditions and atmospheres you get are huge in terms of growing a players confidence. If McGeady (who has alreadys experienced different styles) was to have 3 high profile away games at places like Dortmund/Bayern, PSG, Milan, Benfica, it would help his game. So far as I'm aware Chelsea dont have any Irish players who'll be playing CL football for them next season unless something dramatic happens with Conor Clifford. Spurs dont really have any Irish players in their first team squad or reserves.

Roy Keane claims McGeady is a spoofer (of sorts).
McGeady hits back
"I played with him at Celtic and that was bad enough" ... "he is just one of those guys who has an opinion on everything."
Not said was 'he had cráp opinions as a player and cráp opinions as a pundit'

Aidan McGeady hits out at Roy Keane (http://www.independent.ie/sport/soccer/euro-2012/irish-news/aidan-mcgeady-hits-out-at-roy-keane-3116993.html)

Didn't Keane recently say he doesn't watch Ireland games?
