David, what do you think the chances would be of Derry using Windsor for their first round- or even group - matches?

AFAIK Derry's home matches must take place in the Republic if there're not played at the Brandywell. Gretna wanted to play their home match in Carlisle but because they're representing the Scottish league that match had to played at a Scottish ground.

Thanks - pity since the nearest Uefa acceptable ground in the RoI is a 3 and half hour drive away.

If allowed I cannot see it being a problem although not sure how Derry City supporters would feel about it. Didn't Shelbourne play Rangers in England a few years ago? Have the rules changed since then?

Games can be moved for "security risks", ala Israel and Shelbourne.

In some ways that would be a superb draw for you but in other ways it would be a nightmare. Derry fans are getting praised, and rightly so, for their behaviour. For a game like this you would probably get hangers on from everywhere wanting to turn this into a Rangers v Celtic type game. Rangers would also get such hangers on and it could be a potential disaster.

Its all obviously hypothetical at this stage but I'd be happy to play any 1st round tie in Windsor, except of course Rangers. Why punish ourselves with 2 away games?

In fact I'd gladly endure playing a Russian side, or the hell of Besiktas (basically just about any other side I can think off) to avoid Rangers and the hangers on from both sides that tie would attract.

Anyway, we've hopefully got time to give the kiddy-marriers another spanking before then.

Can completely see where you are coming from here.
