Well done to both teams. Great results!:)
Also, fair play to Aertel for keeping us all up to date. Still have Derry 0-0 and Drogs 1-0 up:rolleyes:.
The Gothenburg bars will be rubbing their hands now!!! Wot a result, heroic win, great overall for the EL!!!

Our last four matches in europe:
Shels 1 - 0 Odense
Cork 1 - 0 Limissol
Gotenburg 0 - 1 Derry City
Helsinki 1 - 1 Drogheda
Now they are good to see...shame we went out on agg...

Thats right - but at this stage last year didn't we have the full 1 point? (Was it Shels/Longford/Cork all with first leg wins?)
This week:
P4 W3 D1 L0 F4 A1
:)
So far in Europe this year, Irish teams have played 7 games, winning 5, drawing 1, and losing 1...

Yeah, but compare the opposition!
Limassol, HJK and Goteborg versus Carmarthen, Ekranes and Glentoran. Much more impressive results this year.

Big congratulations to both Derry and Drogheda. Despite the late equaliser in Helsinki, I'd say Drogheda would have settled for a 1-1 draw away from home.
Fabulous result for Derry in Sweden!

That Derry result must be one of the best in Europe in recent years? There've been a few, but not many away wins against so much higher ranked teams who have as much European experience as Goteborg?

Shels vs Hadjuk, Deportivo at home, Steaua at home, Odense at home, Lille at home
Cork's Intertoto and UEFA wins.
Derry vs Gotenburg and now Drogs draw.
All great recent results.
Problem is Shels away loss to Odense, Longfords poor show last year, Shels vs Hibernians, etc etc that we need to rid oursleves of!!!

By now, it's to be expected that NL sides get through one round of Europe at least.

Totally agree - this year's are all good results against teams seeded against us.

No it's not. We're currently still cropping up unseeded most of the time. Until we are seeded we're not expected to win any tie. We can hope, but it's still a feat to do so.

In fairness Shels defeat to OB is hardly comparable to the other 2 results.

Why ???
The Danish league is ahead of Sweden and Finland...
I think he meant that the loss to OB wasn't as bad as Longfords displays, or the rather unfortunate Hibs of malta episode...

I agree it wasn't anything as bad but well, we could realistically have beaten them and to lose 3-0 in any game is disappointing. Esp after missing a peno. But I have total faith in Derry/Cork and Drogs. It would have been nice to get Shels into the UEFA, but well that would then mean dividing by 4 and well if Shels lost both games it would have been worse for the league!!

Congrats to Drogheda and Derry, two impressive results. Particularly Derry's result. I hope u both do the Business at home.
Not a good night for the Finnish or Swedish teams.
There is no reason why we can't continue to improve year on year. Especially if we start to get seeded in both UEFA Cup and CL.
Great results this week, 3 draws gets all 3 teams into the 2nd qualifying round. When did that happen last?

I see the $hel$ fans are trying to hitch to another bandwagon before they go under....
The irony of the $ signs now....
Shels results don't count towards the co efficients, hence the difference between shels meaningless second leg win and 3 point gaining 1st leg results.

Out of interest, could the statos give a breakdown of results for the last 5 years split between top 25 ranked teams, and all below top 25, obviously based on this years rank.

Super results last night. And fair play if Derry brought 500 to Gothenburg. How many Drogheda fans were in Helsinki?
Hope they finish the job in the second leg.

It was around the 350-400 mark! Friday was a very bad day for all City supporters, My head is still pounding from it, great atmosphere, very big stadium and very quiet swedes! only bad thing is, the bar decided to stop selling beer before halftime, alot of very unhappy people:( :p
Gothenburgs lack of fitness showed as they got tired soon into the 2nd halfand when the goal went in the place was mental:D Thats all i can really remember!
