Bray 2-1 Shels

Wasn't that awarded to Bray after the Shels players were on strike and didn't make an appearance?

Aertel have it listed as been played yesterday.

We won 2-1. Drogheda in the QF. With Bray or someone else in the semis so probably Bray if we get through.

Paul Knight - the lad over from Newcastle/Middlesboro who ended up not going to Glenavon - scored both.

Bray have Kildare, I think.

A wet and windy Saturday morning in Foster’s sorted the men most definitely from the boys. UCD absolutely battered Bray in what turned out to be a fiery affair, both goals coming from Timmy Purcell (UCD new scholar) courtesy of Conan Byrne’s cross and the 2nd from P Byrne header across goal. UCD looked very solid at the back but unfortunately gave away a sloppy goal which came from a kick out and should have been dealt with. In the end UCD played much the better football and really should have scored more. It now leaves UCD in the driving seat in the league, a number of players shone like the centre halfs brilliant David Last and Evan Macmillan and Kieran Harte and Conan Byrne.

Conan Byrne, there's a blast from the past. Has he added any yards to his pace?:p

Bray were playing I can't remember today, think it was Kildare, at home and we were playing Pats away. Aertel don't have the results up yet so does anyone know how these went?

Our Enda McGuill Quarter-Final against Drogheda is on Tuesday, 7.45pm in Belfield.

Well U-21 level has a huge turnover of players. Your best players make the step up and the average ones tend to move on. It's hard to achieve consistency. I haven't seen any games, but judging by the form we're not as sharp as last year. Pat's are closing in and Rovers have a few games in hand.

pineapple stu
28/08/2006, 9:16 PM
Top four go through this year.

We don't tend to win the division, but tend to win the league of late. So it's just the same as the last two years.

We drew 3-3 with Rovers today in a game moved to Belfield Park after the Postal Grounds were unplayable. I arrived half an hour late so I don't know what happened up to that point except that no goals were scored.

Rovers scored about 20 seconds before half time with a nice finish from a through ball, not unlike Conor Sammon's last night. We equalised about 5 minutes into the second half, Conan got a good header on a free kick in from the left. Rovers went ahead again about 10 minutes later after a decent save by the keeper landed to a Rovers player who just about managed to get the rebound past the keeper.

We equalised again with a similar goal to the first one: a shot took a slight deflection off a Rovers defender to send it centimetres wide of the post and Conan got another good header on the corner but Rovers defence didn't do too well at the near post. Rovers scored again almost straight from the kick-off and looked like they were going to hang on for the win.

Rovers had a man sent off for a second yellow which looked a little harsh. UCD didn't really make the extra man count but a good ball into the box in injury time led to yet another headed UCD goal, this time scored by number 17, whose name I don't know.

Playing Trinity at home tonight. :)

A win means they can't catch us. 10 points from our last four games means we're guaranteed third. It shouldn't even take that many as others will take points of each other, obviously. Three points tonight and we could well have one foot in the last 16.

Man, Trinity suck. I can't recall the last time I saw such a handy win. Sure, I've seen bigger hammerings, but with more effort from the winners.

Eery atmosphere, with no more than 20 poeple in the ground (plus some punters watching from the balcony of a nearby flat).

Linesman was good craic though.
