At this stage it is not cheap or easy to get to Bratislava, and back from Prague for that matter. You would think that Ryanair will put on More flights to Vienna on Friday, 7th. The flights are booked out on the Friday, but they have put on more flights to certain places in the past when demand was strong enough. Any thoughts? Shouyd we hold our powder or pay through the nose?

To get to Bratislava you could take a look at flying to Budapest as I think it's only 2 hours or so away on the train. I think Aer Lingus fly direct.

Look at

Skyeurope to Bratislava and Prague
Ryanair via UK to Bratislava

Look at other posts as to the arrangements others have made to get there

That does sound like a good deal. Who did ya book that through? Hotels included aswell?

I have been checking all the different ways of getting there and back. None are ideal, but thats what I expected. For example the direct flight to Brat with Sky Eurpoe doesnt arrive there til 11.40pm on the friday.

Was reading on the slovakia summary thread that the tickets can be purchased at ticketportal (their equivalent of ticketmaster). I take it they are not on sale yet. When they are on sale are people going to jump in and buy them as we did for the germany game or just hold out on the FAI. Do they fill out their stadium for the games? And even if so will there be more of us actually at the game to suggest the FAI will not be able to meet all requests?

and coming back Prague - Bristol - Dublin with Easyjet and Ryanair €75 13th Sept

I think when the tickets go on sale here they should be snapped up, I'm sure they will have a segregated area when they realise a lot of Irish fans will be attending and have bought tickets here. It seems from the recent run of results that there is a lot more interest in traveling to the game than before. As posted earlier people should try all avenues to get tickets and can't be relying on the FAI.

There are 5 of us traveling and we managed to put together a great package before chrimbo:

Flight to Budapest and 1 nights stay in a hotel, 2 nights stay in Bratislava in class appartments, 4 nights stay in Prague in classier apartments then a flight to London and a flight back to Galway with enough time in between for a few beers in London...€470 the lot

We've booked here:

http://www.bratislava-apartments.sk

Managed to get 2 apartments for about 7 of us working out at about €27 a night...looks to be pretty much in the centre of town aswell.

Send them an email cause they were very helpful to me....

Edit: We could pay the deposit with Paypal aswell which was particularly handy...

Booked our flights before Christmas. Just got around to arranging accomodation. Got a one bedroomed apartment for three of us through the website Dr. O recommended for €80 a night. Looks like it is very central and they were very helpful. Deposit can be paid by Paypal or bank transfer.

Not too sure about booking apartments on the internet, you don't really know
what your getting..

Had a bad experience with an apartment we booked in Moscow a few years back, it was in the middle of a run down estate, claustrophobic and a fire hazzard...

Heard a few dodgy stories about Russia alright but as far as I know the places in Eastern Europe are much better as they are more used to tourists than Russia. The 2 places we booked are below and they couldn't have been more polite, helpful or efficient. While the apartments in Prague were fairly easy to find it was a bit harder in Bratislava but I think we done fairly OK...both of the apartments below cost less than €40 per man per night.

Bratislava Apartment Kozia (http://bratislavahotels.travelslovakia.sk/apartment-kozia-bratislava.php?accommodation=kozia)

Prague (Appt A4) Residence Belehradska/ (http://www.hotelsprague.cz/belehradska/)

Has anybody any feedback on the idea of getting tickets through the eastern Europe version of Ticketmaster?

They seem very professional to deal with so far. They have a map on the website showing where each apartment is and they are all within walking distance of the 0ld town in Bratislava. They also have pictures of the interiors and they look very modern and well equipped.

Generally anywhere near the old town in eastern european cities is the up-market area and was the first to be renovated in the 1990's. The dodgy soviet style housing is located further out in the suburbs.

Anyway for €80 a night we will take the chance.

Staying in the City Hotel myself. The topless bar swung it for me.Rumour has it that Babysis or Green Tribe or even AidoM might be doing a nixer there.
Looks a excellant hotel. Its a little bit out from the city but transport should be cheap.

I was dragged to a topless bar once in England , my mates said it was a great place and wait until you see the girls . Now girls they may have been but that must have been 40 years ago and the sight of a couple of 55 year old topless has put me off the idea of ever going to drink in that kind of a place again !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its 30 euro per skull per night. It looks like summit out of ballymun past, but the location was crucial. I rang them a few days ago, and it is actually booked out for that w/e, but I found a hotels website that was displaying availability for those dates so i booked it. Not sure if they are still available, but you could try: www.hotelseverywhere.ie
Cant see us being in the hotel long enough to care about the decor. I just didnt want to be staying somehwere 10ks away.
