Keane is and will always be the best footballer to come out of Ireland.Fcuk ye clowns slagging him off and anyone that does knows nothing about football.

Liam Brady was the greatest footballer to come out of Ireland. He had seven great seasons in Serie A. If Roy Keane was the greatest footballer that came out of Ireland, he would have behaved more professionally and would have been a successful La Liga or Serie A player. Anyways, Roy Keane never won European or World Footballer of the Year.

For starters Best did not play for Ireland. I am not disputing that either of the others were not good footballers but Mcgrath was an alco and Brady played in a different era. IMO football is better to watch now than it was when Brady played.

I can only surmise that you know little about football then. And you should be ashamed of yourself for dismissing Paul McGrath in the way you do because of his illness. Enough with the 'clown' comments elsewhere on this thread too. Grow up.

I shouldn't have to tell you what you said in your own posting, but since you apparently didn't read it yourself, here goes: you didn't say that Keane was the best player ever to play for Ireland, you said he was the best ever to come out of Ireland. Belfast is in Ireland.
Your comment on McGrath is both idiotic and irrelevant. Someone with a drinking problem can't be a great player? Do you know anything about professional footballers?

yes, fair enough. his non appearance at wc 2002 was disappointing and i'll never understand why someone who was so determined to get to the world cup would have acted in the way he did etc.

i keep hearing everton allthough im still trying to get a reliable source on that , i know the people newspaper ran the story that this peice below eludes to .the only bit i can say is true is moyes did meet roy + agent to offer a player coach role , but that was before the utd bust up everything is gone quite since .

Everton apparantly lead the race for Roy Keane according to a national newspaper. With Everton lacking passion and spirit as well as leadership Roy Keane may be the ideal player to give the fans a lift and get the players motiviated.

David Moyes has already spoken to Keane's agent Michael Kennedy about a possible move. Keane may favour a move to Everton as he would not have to move house in Hale Barns in Cheshire.

Also in the race are Aston Villa who are one of the favourites as David O'Leary shares the same agent as Keane. Other clubs interested are West Brom and Portsmouth but those moves are seen as less favourably than Everton and the Villa. Celtic had previously been seen as the favourites but with Strachan wary of a move for Keane as he may fear Keane would the man to replace him if it goes wrong at Celtic for him he may be put off.

Whoever Keane signs for he can't play until January 1st but all the interested clubs will be hoping a deal will be done sooner rather than later to get Keane into training as he is recovering from a broken foot.

Fine that is your opinion and i wont argue with it. My opinion is that Keane is a better player than Brady was but that is my opinion.I am entitled to that am i not.

I know what I said and i will stick to it.There no need to disect what i have written to make yourself look less of idiot but the last time i looked Ireland and Northern Ireland were different countries ,unless that has changed in the last few hours. I was just pointing out that Mcgrath was an alcoholic and missed as much games as Keane did but there is no reference to that anywhere.I loved Paul Mcgrath and when he played he did so with his heart on his sleeve just like Keane.

I have the greatest respect for Paul Mcgrath and when i referred to him as an alcoholic i did not mean it to be offensive to him or to anyone else. Maybe it was used in the wrong context and i appologise for that.For the last time Mcgrath was an excellent footballer for Ireland and at club level both in Ireland and England and i have the greatest respect for him.

I will never pretend to know as much about football as some of the guys on here but i know enough to have my opinion on certain issues if that is ok with you.Is that grown up enough for you?I suppose you will monitor all my posts from now on or will you describe me as been paranoid now.

BTW, In all these best ever players discussions that seem to crop up every time Roy's career is discussed, Giles never seems to get a mention. Is it that you are all too young, thought B/W replays were hilariously chaplinesque or just cant conceive that the old codger could have been an absolutely superb midfielder who could tackle as fierce as Keane and lob a perfect 50 yard pass like Brady. Its okay to mention in the same sentence Keane, Mc Grath, Brady and Johnny Giles without fear of ridicule. Who you prefer doesn't matter.

The only problem I have with that is that competitiveness = getting booked. I don't agree. Getting booked for late tackles and dissent does not amount to competitiveness. I've never agreed with that theory. Can you not be competitive, go in hard to win the ball and not end up with a string of bookings (and suspensions)? I think you can. Sure the odd mistimed tackle may result in a booking but by and large you can play hard and fair without getting booked ad nauseum.
