Fay unlisted on FAI Connect. Don't think he ever really had much of a run or impact. Had actually forgotten about him

Aye, too small, not good enough.
Decent point tonight, albeit it was almost impossible to watch the stream for much of the second half due to weather/technical difficulties. Seems like we had a few great chances late on after doing feck all attacking before that so a win could have been nicked. Two fairly evenly matched teams and a point up there never a bad result all in all.

We basically got bombarded the 2nd half until those last 10 mins. We have a habit this season of playing ****e till minute 80 and then really trying and threatening from then on. Same thing happened tonight. I'll take a point for sure.
Also they're doing that thing of not announcing signings again when everyone and their dog can already see it. But Seán Moore has signed and was on the bench tonight. Apparently he was the Bohs u20 player of the year last year. So we shall see where that goes

Yeah, I've no idea what that is about tbh. Utterly pointless in the day and age of FAI connect.
Next up Kerry at home Saturday. Last time out they were comfortably the better team in Tralee, but we have been a better outfit since then, 1 defeat in 5. Would be great to get the 3 points and set us up for the cup match the following week.

Never lost to them at home (w4d1). They are leaking goals of late, got to be aiming for 3pts but they have never given us an easy game since they joined league.

As pointed out by Longfordian on the main forum, the club has announced a new outdoor Rockshore bar at Bishopsgate being launched at game tomorrow. You'd like to think in that weather it will draw a big crowd out and hopefully long term it can help us attract new fans.

Wouldn't be a big Rockshore fan but in weather like this a cold beer watching a game sounds very good.

Assuming it's not just non-alcoholics and the proper stuff, I'm surprised because I had it in my head that it would never happen since it was way out from the town on a main road with cars going 100k. But glad I'm wrong it's great that that's there now, hope it stays around long-term.

Same as that but judging by the photos uploaded there appears to also be Guinness and Rockshore cider.

It's the proper stuff alright. Id heard rumours of a zero zero bar earlier In the year but this is brilliant news to get
Well that was great. Much the better team and other than a few minutes after Kerry got it 2-1 about as comfortable a win as your going to get.
Roll on the cup!

Yep happy with that. Well deserved and should have scored more which is a good problem. I said we needed 4 points minimum from the Harps and Kerry games and we did just that.1 defeat in 6 now, good form going into the Castlebar game.
Only negative: the pints were sh1te. Warm p1ss in a cup in that hot weather didn't go down well. But I'll give the benefit of the doubt that they'll have them cooler and some ice going forward. Just would have been nice to have it done right in this weather

Yeah the pints weren't great now although had another one at HT and it was better than the pre-game one. The longer the system was on the colder they got. A fine addition to the ground though so hopefully it's not a once off and they can turn the system on earlier in the day in future, but these things are easily ironed out.
On the game, great win, good performance for the most part and we probably should have scored a few more. Delighted for Ugbesia who's been impressive since getting into the team of late. Strange how he wasn't really seen til lately but he's certainly grabbed his opportunity.
Mad to think that the Kerry keeper sat on the bench twice for PSG in the Champions League group stages a few years ago. He was cat altogether.
Fingers crossed for no slip ups next week in the cup now.

Yeah, from what I understand the beer cooling system was turned on early in the day but in that heat it took a lot longer than it should have to work. Ideally you'd nearly want it running overnight but obviously not a runner unless someone wants to mind it all night

They don't use much electricity and most pubs/home systems leave them on 24/7.

I am glad the season hasn't just petered out, Wayne and co deserve a lot of credit for managing to stop the slide. I can rarely make it to games but if the League wide rockshore link up leads to more sunny day pints, I think that can only be a good thing. They've built something similar out the back of the closed stand in Tolka.

It would be very easy to throw in the towel at this stage so it's good that they're putting in the effort. Just a pity that 5th place is 8 points out and our next 4 games are against the current top 4, so it's hard to see us closing the gap even with the current good form. But if you offered me 6th or 7th at the start of season I'd have taken that. A cup run would be brilliant too, we've gotten premier teams in first round the last 3 years. Glorious chance here to make a run

Agree with above comments, early days for Kerry yet under Healy but they are housing several players this season including the lad who scored last night who is on loan from Salford, goes to show what we are up against financially at the moment

Unless it's been changed, Castlebar themselves had it on posters for 5pm

Brave man taking anything as gospel from the FAI!
App has it 5. I think they should have gone 6 myself with the hurling final at 3.30.
They have just won their league and are connaught cup champions so will be fit and in form.
Hope our attitude and approach is right.

For those traveling on Sunday (seems to be a big crowd going), Castlebar are going to open their club bar early @ 2pm for traveling Town fans, I'm told the Guinness is top tier. All welcome.
Didnt get to travel, but job done. Keeps the mid season form going, i think 4 wins, 2 draws and 1 defeat in last 7.

Absolutely mighty day. Touch and go in the match but we turned the screw and got a deserved win. 4 tough games in the league now, plus whatever comes in the cup. But a memorable day yesterday for whoever went along, will be a high point when looking back on the season

An absolutely fantastic away day, what a lovely group of people up in Castlebar, gave us such a warm welcome and their fans loved the banter, they said they'd never seen a group of fans like Longford before with all the different chants and colour and flags.
On the game, pure mental, was nervy until we finally got in front with 15 minutes to go. We'll need a cushy draw if we're to get any further. Hopefully Kerry at home or salthill at home.

Is there anything to be said for another mass...............
So Bray Saturday. They are in good form, 4 wins on the spin including beating Dundalk, and in the hunt for the title to cant afford to drop points to us. We have been ok with points in 5 of the last 6, but would be doing well to get something out of it.
De Town
24/07/2025, 10:24 AM
Looks like we've signed Alex Dunne from Kerry. Right full I think.
On the Bray game, I think we're more than capable of getting something out of it. We were unlucky to lose to them on the opening night, and should have been leading at HT up in Bray after a couple of missed sitters before a 2nd half collapse. Their league position is very impressive for a relatively young squad, particularly in attacking areas. If we defend like we did last week, we'll likely be beaten but if we return to our more solid look of the previous few weeks then we've got a chance I'd say.
MoydowMonty

Our next 4 league games are against the current top 4, all of which have beaten us handily at least once each. I know we're in good form at the moment, but if ya offered me 4 points out of 12 there I'd take that and run. Just hope the effort is put in and don't get bent over the counter in any of them. Playoff race is over I reckon, so aim for 6th or 7th at this stage
Funny how the fixtures fall. Could be a very hard few weeks for us with those games, followed by Rovers away in Cup.

FAI Connect: Kyle Robinson signs after leaving Athlone. Could be a very good signing. I'd take a couple more lads from their team if they were going.
And Jack McCarthy has departed. He was probably gonna drop to 3rd choice anyway. Can't say I blame him
Probably be 2 more weeks before they bother announcing either of those on the socials

A sickening defeat tonight that was totally undeserved. Started slowly but we were much the better team after the first 20 minutes or so. O'Neill a serious talent for them to be fair. A real sucker punch to take, and now a double away header next weekend against the top 2 not ideal. Can't fault the effort anyway.
MoydowMonty
26/07/2025, 10:51 PM
Sickened with that cuz we played some lovely stuff at times. A complaint I had earlier in season was that we took almost no shots. This game we played well and tokk shots but unfortunately a lot of them straight at Corcorran. Still, least we played well and the effort was there. Better than can be said for most our defeats this year. Cobh away next will be a tough test
outspoken
26/07/2025, 11:33 PM
That was a real sign of how far we've come tonight, outplayed one of the best teams in the division for large periods but an absolutely sickening way to lose.
Not sure why Harry was taking a free kick that far outside his area to start, he boots it straight into the bray keepers hands who immediately sees Halwax is out of nets so launches it long, we win it back but Topcu plays an insane pass and then we allow Billie O'Neill to saunter in, he's got to he dragged down there. A collection of errors that cost us dear.
Thought it was our best performance of the season. Robinson looks lively, a couple of the subs didn't have the desired effect which was frustrating.

Agbo Babatunde signing from Athlone. My head went to the wrong player at first (Noe Baba) but it's a different player, appeared a handful of times for Athlone. Not as much profile as Robinson, see how he gets on

Manny Milongo suspended this weekend for getting a red card. He hasn't played for us in over 2 months. I presumed he had left the club tbh, hasn't even been on the bench in over a month.
In that case, I wonder how he's managed to pick up a red card.
MoydowMonty

Wonder was he at the match in the stand or something then said something bold after full time. Haven't a clue it's a weird one.
Tell ya who else has been missing recently, Giurgi and Ibrahim. Now Ibrahim is no big loss, should never have been re-signed (let alone twice). Giurgi I'd rather have around as an option, maybe not necessarily to start.
For all we know those 3 players could be free agents or just injured. The club certainly won't be in any hurry to tell us

Maybe red cards for senior players in u20s matches carry over? Beyond that I've no idea. Also no idea on the other names mentioned.
