He's probably better than seanfhear but, then again, probably only cos he is really old.

You could see me on the Man Utd bench before Marcus Rashford ~ The way things are going !

If Keane is that bad, O'Brien must have been really awful in training to get stuck behind him in the pecking order.

I'm thinking Keane isn't that bad.

Michael Keane, who played for us at youth level, was so bad he ended up playing for England a few times.

If he had stuck with us, I guarantee all that anyone would be talking about here is how error prone he has been for Everton over the last 4-5 years! The Calamity Keane moniker would be daily bread :D I give up!! :D

Dyche should have given Jake a break and Not a brake !

Dyche ended up with ache for Not using Jake !

Yes, during the time when you were Calamity Kenny’s Boswell. You know error-prone.

OK - so it is a little personal with me. At least you have come clean on that indirectly. On Kenny, some were willing to give him little to no time, others wanted him to have more time than he got, but I was probably in the middle - and in retrospect, I was too forgiving and its not the first time I have acknowledged that here. But I have no problem getting some stuff wrong. Maybe a quick google on Michael Keane's form over the last few years will let you realize that you might have got this one a bit wrong and let your frustration with my support of Kenny get in the way.

If he stays at right back it will give us a few options for March. Do we play him there too, and put O'Shea back in the centre alongside Collins. Or do we leave O'Shea where he is and play O'Brien alongside Collins?

Obviously Omobamidele and others could come into this conversation as well, but Collins and O'Shea didn't really work well as a partnership the last time it was tried, so maybe you would play both but in opposite roles to their club positions, with O'Shea staying on the right and O'Brien coming in at centre back.

With Scales suspended for the first game think O'Shea will move into CB and Doherty likely starts RB now that he's playing regularly at club level.

Though Hallgrimsson might surprise me and give O'Brien a start thinking his height will give us an advantage at set pieces.

Collins could again play that defensive midfield hybrid role. More so in the first leg with it being away. Start a bit defensive to suss them out and then change things up.

There's also McGuinness who I think did OK at Wembley and I agree we might see Collins staying in midfield. McGuinness is also a big aerial threat.

Collins didn't really play in midfield though. He just stepped out of the back line at times. We got hammered in the game. I'm not sure it was a success, wouldn't be certain we'll see it tried again.

By the same token, I wouldn't call it a failure. It was working, or at least not failing, until the red card.

I can see it definitely being tried again. Probably not against Bulgaria but whichever seed one team we play and it's a possibility with Hungary who'll have a player like Szoboszlai.

Collins played well in that hybrid but we need to play someone like Finn Azaz in midfield also when we do. Can't be playing two workhouses ahead of him.

I think it’s probably something that is designed exclusively for elite sides, where you’re primarily just looking to contain them.

Gets his second goal of the season - the half season he's been afforded.

A feature of his right back role is that he will get in position to receive a diagonal ball or into the box to provide another aerial option. A straight forward but clearly effective tool used by Moyes. He's been doing it all game and eventually found himself in a good position as a ball was put into the box and he took the goal well. Header to equalise.

Peter Reid in the stands with what seemed to be a nice little celtic cross pin on the his jacket lapel.

Good to now have a few viable right back options, but would think O'Brien has to get the start against Bulgaria. Defensively strong, good on the ball and a threat in the opposition box for set pieces. Getting him in and moving O'Shea across to centre back should be a good upgrade for us from the autumn.

Just saw the Jake O'Brien goal ~ Did he hold the centre forward position after a set-piece, or was he playing as a make-shift centre-forward for the last few minutes of the game ~ Either way it was excellent positional play from him and a damn nice goal for a full-back / centre-back !

He also had one excellent shot in that highlights piece ~ A really really powerful shot !

Goal at about 2 minutes 35 seconds

He was up for a corner and had stayed forward for the next ball in.

A great finish and as mentioned, he had a good effort from distance before that. Good to see him thrive under Moyes after stagnating under Dyche - just shows how easily players can rise and fall under different managers.

now ( well with the benefit of hindsight ) Was Dyche throwing a strop for not having a say in buying Jake O'Brien ? Obviously we don't know, but some managers can be a bit awkward in such situations !

Everyone who saw Jake at Lyon knew it was a mistake. Probably cost Dyche his job. He’s always so stubborn with playing only experienced centre halves, whether it’s Ben Mee at Burnley forever or starting Michael Keane over Jake O’Brien at Everton

Fast becoming a fan favourite getting loads of praise for his ability, distribution and attitude on the below. Looks like a really composed footballer with a canny knack for goal. Him and Collins could be some pairing in the future if only playing 2 in the centre (although would prefer us with a 3 with O’Shea)…
