He gets a mention for that goal here too.
Guirassy turned Liam Scales one way and another before stabbing home the sixth in the 66th minute.
Rough night for Celtic.

Good performance from him this evening in Bergamo, playing in a side seemingly incapable of stopping crosses coming in a clean sheet was a decent outcome, they missed plenty of chances of course but he in particular deserved a bit of luck I think….

Won MOTM. Fair play to Liam

Starts on the bench tonight against RB Leipzig; Trusty plays instead.
Was dropped for the last league game against Dundee; came on for the last quarter of an hour. Second half sub against Aberdeen at the weekend in the League Cup too
Hardly injured if he's coming off the bench - but seems a bit harsh to go from MotM one Champions League night to the bench the next?

Would be a concern for sure,Carter Vickers seems to be the first choice anyway and it feels like they’re trying to get a partnership with Trusty started,a shame for Scales if it turns out like that…

They could have at least done the right thing and kept playing him until January before selling him to someone panicking

Came on as a sub again for the last 15 minutes - slightly unusual for a centre-back to be coming off the bench so often, so I guess Rodgers is trying to keep him still in the first-team picture.

It's enough football and recent good form that I'd definitely still have him start the two Ireland games anyway, he'd hopefully still be pretty sharp and fresh, that game time will do him a lot of good coming up to Christmas period then where Celtic will surely have to rotate some matches being involved in everything still.

Probably being rested. He's only come on as a sub in the last three games. Up to that, he'd played 90 minutes in every game this season.
Only Schmeichel and Hatate have played more games than him this season.

Being rested for what, the behemoth that is Kilmarnock this weekend? Surely in a vital home CL clash against German opposition, Rodgers thoughts were laid bare on what he considers his best available team. Sadly - and without much ado from non-Irish bhoys - Scales and Idah aren't in it. In fact, the latter must be damn frustrated with his increasingly bit-part role.

Agreed - you don't rest players for RB Leipzig at home (key to their progression at this stage) in order to have a fit team against Killie.
There may be some other reason, but I don't think "Probably being rested" makes sense.

More likely to be carrying a knock and being used spareingly i would have thought.
Alternativly maybe Rodgers has made a move away from him , i dont watch enough Celtic games to know how he has been playing

He's been playing fine but Trusty was brought in to play and Scales is third pick for the two centre back positions. Obviously a team needs more than two CBs and Scales will continue to have an important role to play as a backup centre back as Celtic will play in the region of 60 games across all competitions this season. But he's certainly not being rested against Leipzig so that he can be kept fresh for Kilmarnock or whoever.

Back in the team today, though Carter-Vickers isn't in the squad (presumably injured) so that's not necessarily a sign of where he is in the order.
A flick through the Celtic forums reckoned he was unlucky to be dropped, but Trusty is just better. Make what you will of that obviously
Idah also starts but has been quiet enough it seems as Celtic lead 1-0 at halftime

He was about 6 inches away from scoring the opening goal, but it was his presence that caused the goal anyway as it meant the keeper couldn't dive for the ball in in case Idah got a touch.

I think Idah was poor yesterday, a few poor touches and slow reactions at key times though he did set up Kuhn for a glorious chance. Scales had a very solid game and Schmeichel had to play really well as Celtic were under a lot of pressure. Trusty is starting to look like a very good player now he's had a few games and has got to the level of match fitness needed.

Celtic ring the changes for Ross County today - Scales and Idah both start, and both score as Celtic lead 5-0 by halftime. Scales has an assist too. Ross County have changed their keeper - though I think it's injury rather than tactical as it was a minute into the second half
The SPL really is quite poor

Yeah, it's absolutely awful this year in particular. A lot of the teams would struggle in League 2. Lovely touch and finish from Idah all the same though.

Nice day for Scales and a good performance but he has now lost his place to Trusty in the team. He hasn't really done anything wrong but after having a rough game against Dortmund Trusty has settled and is just better. He's still 3rd choice CB and will get a look in given that Celtic are fighting on four fronts and will rotate and have injuries/suspensions for the CBs.

Would think that, if the likes of O'Brien and Omobamidele can get January loan moves, Scales long term starting position in the Ireland team will come under pressure fairly quickly. He has benefited from playing a lot of first team football in the last few seasons and O'Shea getting shifted to right back, but in a position of supposed strength for us, he's really quite an average player to have in our starting team.

Scales had a mare yesterday but tbf so too did the whole team bar Carter-Vickers maybe. McGregor was dispossessed more times in one game than he'd expect to in a whole season. Sutton commented on how Scales would be looking for a pass but nobody was available. I guess my point is that he was poor, and everyone was poor but I feel Scales more than most will suffer.

Especially if Tierney joins on loan from Arsenal, which seems to be on the cards.

To be honest Tierney will spend more time on the treatment table than anywhere else. He was run into the ground during his first spell at Celtic and it has caught up with him now - he is more or less permanently crocked as a result.

Trusty came off before the half-hour mark today; Scales is on in his place.
Might get a run of games in now. Not sure if you call him up for March though given he's suspended for the first leg. (I think it's know a one-match ban?)
Idah back in the starting XI. 1-1 now, with 35 gone

Would imagine he has fallen down the pecking order a little bit over the winter. Hasn't been a regular starter when others have been at a higher level. At the same time Cashin hasn't played yet since his move and Omobamidele is injured I think, so he should still make the squad. But well behind Collins, O'Shea and O'Brien now I'd say. Jimmy Dunne making a case for a call up too.

Think he comes straight back in for the second leg unless whoever comes in at RB puts in a good performance that you don't move O'Shea back out to RB for the second leg.
Bar the sending off he's been impressive for Hallgrimsson and will have some credit built up for his performances in green so far under him.

If everyone is fit there's three Premier League regulars in there battling him for a starting place. Four if you include Matt Doherty, who he's not directly competing with but who is relevant as he's competing with centre backs for the starting position at right back. But, even leaving Doherty asíde, I think it would be a bold move to pick a backup SPL player over any of the three lads who are going well in the Premier League.

Yes, he's having a very strong season on a personal level. Ipswich will likely be relegated but (like most relegated teams) they have a few players who are genuinely good enough to be playing at that level and he's one of them.
