View Full Version : CL & UEFA Cup Draw Official Thread
Does anyone think the eL teams will get an easy draw for a change?
1 season of drawing some smaller minnows could really help the coefficient.
Fingers crossed! :) I'm actually very optimistic about all teams draws, and as I said on shelsweb, I'm practically ****ing myself in sexual anticipation! :D

I think LTFC will get a handy enough draw but we have to go and use it. So will Shels. I fear for Cork though :(

I think Shels have fairly good chances against the unseeded teams, except maybe a massive trip to Kazakstan, or a short one to Belfast. Its good that Longford are seeded, and even though Cork aren't I think they have the quality to get through this round.

I never get these threads where people comment on how they think the draw will result. The draw is an hour or two away. Why bother trying to predict it?

None, I just don't get it. Curious how posts are put up "The draw will be..." and then the ties are predicted. Anyway, I don't mean to interrupt. Fire away.

Glens is a good draw for Shels. Shels know what Glens can do and Glens wont be match-fit.

How is it like predicting scores? At least there's some basis for prediction based on form, players etc, not just guessing which balls are hot, and which balls are cold in a UEFA draw... ;)

$hels at home first I'd say, because the 12th/13th July not the best time to play a game in Belfast.....;)

Steaua....nasty. Doesn't look like it'll be as good a year for Shels as last year.

You should look outside Ireland/UK a bit more if you haven't heard of steaua mate. :)

Fcuk! I was hoping that Shels would be going to Kazakstan... They could have left Ollie Byrne out there.
Mind you, taking Ollie to Belfast on teh 12th weekend mightn't be the wisest thing in the world ;)

Steau are former bloody winners of the thing, how good are they now? We'll have to be playing at our best when Europe comes around, Glentoran will be well up for the games and if we beat them than we'd have to cause an absolutley massive upset to get through. It's doable though, hopefully :) but not playing the way we are now, we wouldn't even get to Romania.

The biggest one is that we're at home first imo.

Can't see $hels in the draw for the 3rd round now......
They really need a HUGE improvement in form and some serious luck.....

I was thinking the same. Even though the Setanta Cup passed peacefully it would be a huge security risk for a Dublin team to travel North on the 12th.
The biggest one is that we're at home first imo.
Would've thought that was better - definitely a live tie....

Before the draw a Swedish newspaper (Aftonbladet) had reviewed all possible opponents for Malmö FF. Here's what they said about Steua:
2 out of 5
"Defensively strong Steua is no easy team to meet. They have a few talented players such as Mirel Radoi and the veteran Dorinel Munteanu. But it feels as Malmö are better and stronger than Steau".
Draw your own conclusions....
taking Ollie to Belfast on teh 12th weekend mightn't be the wisest thing in the world ;)
I hadn't noticed that before now, I don't think that's the best date in the whole calendar for this fixture in East Belfast, TBH.

I would say that Steaua would be no better or worse than split so it is not the worst draw they could have gotten, they could have gotten, Celtic, Liverpool, Anderlecht now that would have been a tough tie.
