Shame that the likes of Molumby, Bolger, Scales, Masterson and Ogbene didn’t make the squads... a bit a blow for some young players who would be looking to this season as a breakthrough year

Molumby is injured, due back in a week or two. Scales hasn't signed for anyone in the UK yet I don't think?

It won't be Duffy, lads. If any club in England has a choice between an Irish international and an English international they'll go for the latter, and they'll pay more for the privilege. It's just the way it is.

What a load of rubbish! The price for English players is more inflated but the club is looking to choose the best player for their team be they English Irish etc...

Maybe Dunk is more suited to what Leicester want in terms of system / style of play etc or perhaps he's a bette player

Only the 1st game of season so no need to panic!
Will be interested to see how the likes of masterson goes. When you get picked up by a pick club ad a young player - there's always a bit more hype but I Don't put a lot of weight on PL U23 football etc

What a load of rubbish!

I'd say it has some truth to it. It's been said by many managers that English players are overpriced.

I know see above. It's the first part I have issue with.

You're right. Graham Coughlan has been upset over the Scales situation. However, don't let the facts get in the way of a bit of solid pessimism.

According to the Southampton message boards Obafemi looked good against Koln. They weren't exactly singing his praises in his previous pre-season appearances. Hopefully he at least gets a place on the bench next week.

Parrott on the bench again for Spurs against Inter. Hopefully he can get some time to impress. A goal would be nice but might be asking for a bit much.

I've a funny feeling Gavin Kilkenny will be our suprise package this season.

It's a pity Brady has been carrying an injury preseason he really needs games but great it's only a rib

Dunne is an interesting one. Long can't get games there so I would be surprised if Dunne pushes in. I'm assuming they are holding out for a Championship side to come in for a loan.

Dunne was very decent for Hearts in the first half of last season in the SPFL but then less impressive when he made the step up to Sunderland in League 1. Wouldn't expect him to play EPL this season, another loan is probably more likely, maybe Championship this time.

I thought the same but I didn't think he would be integrated to the first team as much is he is if they were looking for the loan.

Excellent article by Daniel McD in the independent on the upcoming cross channel football season with regards to the Irish state of affairs:
https://www.independent.ie/sport/soccer/premier-league/new-blood-must-revive-elite-crew-38374261.html (https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.independent.ie/sport/soccer/premier-league/new-blood-must-revive-elite-crew-38374261.html)

It is right on point, apart from Gavin Kilkenny’s omission (perhaps his “emergence” was after the article was written). It is refreshing after reading some poorly researched articles elsewhere that amounted to lazy journalism.

I see troy might be sent on loanto Charlton. If he is a starter it's a great move

Kilkenny is in with a shout of starting this weekend. Would be quite something if two Irish lads under 21 started in the same side for Bournemouth although I think Travers is a little further off.

Think he came off the bench once in their last ten or so league games, no ? Might be wrong.
