Put your money on Harps.

Whaaat? Ollie is already saying it'll be 5 nil to Dundalk or 10 if it doesnt rain!! Harps away is fixture I just would rather have been a few more games in to the season so ye never know Nigel! Any odds?

Not sure what to expect tonight at the showgrounds. It will be interesting how we set up after the cork game.

Just, you know, put money on Harps. I'm not going to get all philosophical about this.

Missing the opening game of the season for the first time in a while. Have to expect a Longford win; some of the previews talk about Limerick's experience of PD football standing to them, but I'm not sure I really buy that.

should be another tense 90 minutes at Belfield, our second 'relegation 6 pointer' of the season already :D Hopefully nick a win in a tight game at Belfield and set us up for the visit of the soap dodgers on Monday evening. With all the tickets sold for Monday night game it spares us the loss of crowd we usually have for a Monday night fixture and guarantees a decent atmosphere.

great to be back:ball:

I am confused

I don't know whether I should be delighted or agitated that Stephen Bradley appears to have had a 'Road to Damascus' moment, judging by his comments this week

Shamrock Rovers woes down to inconsistency, says Bradley
Manager rejects narrative that all team needed to win league was a striker

Shamrock Rovers (https://www.irishtimes.com/topics/topics-7.1213540?article=true&tag_organisation=Shamrock+Rovers) boss Stephen Bradley (https://www.irishtimes.com/topics/topics-7.1213540?article=true&tag_person=Stephen+Bradley) has dismissed the notion that all his team was really missing last season was a high-scoring striker. The Dubliner pointed to his side’s inconsistency as the most important thing to put right if they are going to be serious title contenders this season.

I hope this does not mean that his entertaining, opposition-inspiring, nonsensical comments of previous years are gone

Great to have the first Division back, hoping for a decent crowd in Terryland (indications are it will be). A scoring draw would be a good result against the rich North Dublin club. Shamroch R v Derry and the Munster Derby are the two key fixtures for me the big division tonight.

14/1 on Betfair, mind you we were 20/1 last week and I had a bit and got a run for my money, could have taken a profit cos we were 5/2 at one point

i'll be in Tallaght tonight but the Cabo Bray match has an edge to it.
Not so much for the few hundred souls attending but the two clubs (cabo and St Joesephs ( basically that is who Bray are now) are bitter rivals on the ground for players at underage levels.
Joeys have always been top dogs but Cabo are starting to put some good underage teams together.
No love lost at all there

Consistency is the very point at issue here. On one hand it's an absence of consistency in his utterances from last season - it's like he has flipped and is actually talking some sense about needing consistency to win a league. It's very worrying

The only consistency here is your boring consistent obsession with Bradley/Rovers

Don't be so sensitive. I was ignoring him totally until I read that he was talking some sense this week.

It'll literally be a tight game up in Finn Park. Given that the pitch is about 6 meters wide!

Some decent games tonight. Hard to gauge what to expect from Sligo but I'd happily take a draw if we went on to beat Harps and UCD going into the Rovers game (not that football works that way). We're the better side but I think despite the opening day win we might take a few weeks to click and it's a tough away fixture under those circumstances.

We've knocked on the door several times, hopefully we put more than one away in the second half

Good one Jack, actually got me thinking when was the last of the bigger trophies won by a Dublin club, 2014 I think, Pats FAI Cup, seems long time ago.

Be nice if we can kick start our season at home to UCD on Monday, only 2 points ahead of Cork at the minute!

That's a sickener tonight.
Not much point complaining about Drennan celebrating after all the stick he got and making a banner about it is stating the obvious really. Poor effort from Forza there.

imagine dundalk had a credible management team - they'd be joint top now
perhaps they can get Caulfield in on the cheap- He's bound to be at a loose end soon.

It should hopefully be a decent game on monday- Boez wont be playing a relegation team so we'll see just how good they are.

Aye it puts things in perspective alright, feels like an absolute age ago. Especially given our seasons since then (until now ;)).

You can never read too much into early season performances, though especially given the injuries there's cause for at least slight concern for Dundalk by their start. If this were a season where there was a more reliable title challenger I'd say that there's only so much of a head start you can give, but ultimately once yous click it should be business as usual.

First time we've won our opening 2 games since 2012, both of which we've done by battling through games we wouldn't have been coming out of the other side of with a win previously. More than happy with that even though the football isn't necessarily there yet, but hopefully Harps at home followed by UCD will see us find some rhythm in time for the Rovers game when we'll likely need it.

Good solid performance by Rovers tonight the wind was something else though coming straight down the pitch from the mountains. Carr was pants in both halves this week cant see him starting on Monday night. Great Crowd considering it was Derry and the Ultra's display in the packed south stand really was excellent. Never know may finish within 10 points of Dundalk.
