Rovers great value for their win tonite. Carr was useless on the wing. Clarke needs to start ahead of him and maybe push Kavanagh up. The Midfield of Jack Byrne, Watt, Finn and McEneff was brilliant and will only get even better in time. The new striker doesn't look decent at all to me and Greene although a willing runner wont be good enough to be a 10 goal striker never mind a 20 goal one. Saying that tho Rovers did look very comfortable. They didn't let Derry get into the game.

Dissapointed with Dan again tonight especially as he finished the season looking so good on the wing. I suppose only 2 games tbf. Trevor Clarke looked fantastic when he came on , you'd nearly forget how good he is he was out for so long. Hopefully starts Monday.

Surely it'd make more sense to play Carr through the middle and Greene on the wing anyway? Granted I obviously don't see an awful lot of Rovers, but as far as I'm aware those are their natural positions, seems counter-productive to do as they are.

car was a winger in England, filled in as a c.f. last season.
Looked really good there end of last season.
New striker doesn't look fit yet but has come on twice with 15 mins to go , scored one (off his big toe) and won the penalty tonight.....have my concerns but if he keeps popping up in the right place who knows

Happy enough with that result.
Either side could have won it.
Yeah but we looked most likely.;)
Narrowing of the pitch-nothing new there and it is the fecking worst pitch in the 32c.Jaysus the bobbles on it at times! but we hit a few posts and had other chances to win as well.
Harps had a great chance just after their goal to make it 2-0 but Shields blocked that like a superman.Harps threw EVERY BODY to defence for 85 minutes and it was hard work for Dundalk to break them down.Harps are a poor side,it must be awful watching them.
good luck now.

Shels getting a serious result given they were 2-0 down, to win 2-3 away to Galway is a marker clearer and loudly laid down for the rest of the division.
Drogs very unlucky tonight, missed 3 clear goal chances that on another night would have found he back of the net.
Cobh are going to see a lot of red cards this season, they are clearly sent out to get in the opposition faces but they aren’t clever enough - heck at one stage one of them went nose to nose with the ref lol I thought the ref was going to level him. Also I’m convinced they targetted Thomas Byrne given his hothead reputation and he was tackled badly several times but in fairness he kept his calm (a big step forward for him) and he had a great game.
Early days , shels clear favs, Drogs nice football and Athlone no longer the whipping boys.

imagine dundalk had a credible management team - they'd be joint top now
perhaps they can get Caulfield in on the cheap- He's bound to be at a loose end soon.
It should hopefully be a decent game on monday- Boez wont be playing a relegation team so we'll see just how good they are..
Will settle for same as last year (pick one). Just waiting on Bradser "cup final" statement to start us off 😁

Good one Jack, actually got me thinking when was the last of the bigger trophies won by a Dublin club, 2014 I think, Pats FAI Cup, seems long time ago.
Pats the last Dublin club to win the league, FAI Cup and the league cup
and the next one to do so as well 😄

Couldn't be worse than Limericks pitch. There was a simple 5 yard pass to Kenna that bounced up above his head at one point. Was like they had a horse on it before the match

Great battling qualities from Harps last night against a very good side,Dundalks build up not as fluent as youd expect.
Few Dundalk players got a bit techy as the game went on Gartland and Shields in paticular, Gartland throwing sneaky digs off the ball was amusing!
A wee smozzel at the end , the highlight being Higgsy running 25 yards to shove Higgins!!!!

End of last season Carr was brilliant on the wing and Greene has been good up top so far this season, had a goal wrongly ruled out for offside last night early on and he holds the line better than Carr who drops deep more often.

It was a stroll for Drogheda v Cobh last night.
Cobh were very poor.
They arrived later than planned due to their bus breaking down, it was harsh of the ref only to delay the kickoff by 5 minutes & reducing their warm-up.

I didn't think that was our major problem, I thought what we were missing was the finishing. We came close on numerous occasions but only scored 1 due to a mixture of poor finishing and dogged Harps defending.

I agree Greene through the middle to me balances the side he is fit quick and makes defenders make mistakes will he get 20 goals this season if he starts 80 % of games i think he may.

If we can keep Finn mceneff Byrne and watts free of injury we will score goals from midfield, 15 to 20 up front would be great

Finishing definitely hurt Dundalk. Probably should have scored one more. The same could be said of Dundalk defence too, Harps had one or two great chances to get a second, and only for Hoare, may well have conceded a second with Niall McGinley bearing down on goal in the second half.

On a positive note I would have taken 6 points from our first 3 matches and being 1 point ahead of dundalk given the 3 fixtures for each team.
Now excuse me while I go off and drown my negativity about tonight.
Can't wait to see a replay of Greene's sending off , looked very harsh but doesn't matter a feck now.
Roll on Friday.

Credible draw for Harps, watched the second half on a dodgy stream ,Pats struggled to break us down and we could have snatched it at the end,2 points from 3 games not bad considering 2 were in Dublin and had the league champions at home,in other news Derry don't need to score goals at home because the opposition do it for them!!!!

Harps have had a good start from what looked like a tough schedule to start with. Sounds like a strange night between Derry and Waterford. Sligo had a bit of an edge to them against Dundalk that you wouldnt associate with a Buckley team but it was Cork who picked up 6 yellow cards. Byrne being subbed for Carr at half time in Dalymount didnt seem to go down too well. Has there been such a long period of one side dominating the Dublin Derby almost completely? It takes the shine off what was looking like a far more resilient Rovers start to the season. Other sides were over performing or struggling by preseason expectations whereas Rovers going away to Waterford and Derry were scarily on form. I know its one game but beating Bohs in Dalymount would have had every sit up and take serious note!!

Terrible game out in Pats. Dont know why Harry played 5 at the back, No disrespect to Harps but there wasn't and need for 3 centre halfs. Could have easily took Desmond out of there and put him sitting in front of the other 2 or even started Forrester ahead of a defender. Always going to be a 0-0 with both teams very compact with 5 across the back.

Honestly baffled Kenny went with a back 3(/5) tonight. It worked in the opening two games but it's pretty obvious it wasn't going to be suited to playing Harps at home, and given we've been playing 4-3-3/4-2-3-1 all pre-season it made all the sense in the world to revert back to it tonight. Very strange. Weird start to the season really, 7 points from those 3 games is something you'd have taken before the season started but we still haven't clicked at all performance-wise. Hopefully a change in formation for UCD on Friday to get the football rolling properly.

Based on the UCD performance tonight, 3 points is far from the gimme it may appear for St Pats based on results to date. This is a very decent UCD team who play smashing football without fear.

Derry city were well with worth the 3 points tonight. The OG's would have been goals anyway. Massive crowd for a Monday night fixture against Waterford with only a dozen away fans. Waterfords 2nd goal in the the last couple of minutes is up there with goal of the season so far but this Derry city team could surprise a lot this season. Still surprised at the size of the attendance on a Monday night. Not many empty seats once again.

I just meant purely in terms of the manner in which we play (or attempt to anyway). Definitely not taking anything for granted results-wise, especially at this stage of the season.

Great win for table toppers Bohs (milking it while I can). Better team 11 v 11 and mad lunge by Greene pretty much ended their hopes of first derby win in six. I suppose "Greene sees red" makes a good headline 😁
Bohs played most of the football and were very deserved winners on the night.

Ho hum another derby win!
Harsh enough straight red for Aaron Green, he was a dick diving in feet first though.Very undisciplined from Rovers overall. The Peno being a case in point
Thought Carr was excellent for Rovers 2nd half, can't understand why he is not leading their line.
Bohs were pretty awful for long spells but just about deserved the win.Great performances though from Conor Levinson, Donny,Ward , Pender and Peader Kirk. 6 points off relegation=success.

It's interesting to hear the respective managers take on the red card
The Bohs manager is clear in his view that the Ref got the decision right and that Greene "went over the ball" and "was a little bit high"
The Rovers manager seems slightly confused. Initially he says
"It’s never a sending off. It’s not even a booking. Aaron actually doesn’t touch him."
Later he suggests it should have been a yellow card
"It doesn’t matter which side makes the tackle, it’s still not a red card, it's a yellow card, get on with the game"

Cork scored, he had to do something spectacular to selebrate that! Or he saw a Cork player tackle, get carded, and he went nuts at the damage done to a carefully crafted reputation...
Not the first time he's gone into the crowd with excitement. Great to see. Obviously meant a huge amount after the last couple of weeks. He's been under a lot of pressure, good to see him enjoy the positives. He thanked every fan that travelled individually. After the muck Friday, I'd imagine it was a long journey up!

Thought it was the first time we actually deserved something from a bohs game in a while even enough till the ref bottled from a mass pitch invasion from the bohs bench and sent off Greene. What dissapionted me was how nice we were, our players need to be more in the refs ear. Even going off at half time they said nothing to him. Dan Carr has played 5 halves of football for us but bar a decent one in Waterford he is really struggling. He had a shocker last night he was actually an extra defender last night at times. Could not see the penno due to the poor viewing position i had in the Des Kelly so no comment. The amount of times we had the ball in the box in the 2nd half in dangerous areas with no one able to get on the end was painful. Great atmosphere. So summing up still confident enough about the coming season and finishing within 10 of Dundalk. Will we finish higher than Bohemian FC ABSOUTLEY.koh

I think taking Byrne off, who is capable of pushing forward and grabbing a goal, for Carr was an odd substitution. As for not being in the refs ear Finn is well able for that!
