We dropped the United last year, reverted back to the old name and crest - Waterford FC. KO on our website down as 3pm. Only spotted the other day Cork had the 20th, 2pm KO with us having 27th and 3pm.

in todays star it lists Bohs preseason fixtures. I only noticed it when it mentioned that we are playing Bohs in the AUL on the last day of the month.

I imagine so, they are listed on the website. Nothing stopping people from walking into roadstone either.

Wheres Roadstone off the M50 as I wouldnt mind going to it!

Get off the m50 at the red cow. Head south out of city , go straight for about 2km and you come to the kingswood exit . Take that exit , when you come to the roundabout at the top take the 2nd exit and it's 50 yards on your left. Basically a five minute drive from the m50 red cow junction.

Sligo 4-1 up in their friendly today. Have Robbie Williams, Declan Brennan, and John Smith listed as trialists. Assume that's Williams ex-Limerick and Cork, Brennan ex-UCD and the only John Smith I can find who may be available is a lad who played with Stevenage this season, a 31 year old English midfielder.

I hope we're not going to sign Williams tbh. Don't think he would add much except a few kilos. We are a bit threadbare in the defensive positions though I think.
John Smith may be just a generic name either as someone mentioned on our forum.
Can't recall anything about the ex UCD lad Brennan.

Not can I to be honest.
Is it this fella (http://www.extratime.ie/player/11117840/declan_brennan/) who was with us for a month in pre-season a couple of years ago?

That may be him alright. To be honest, my guess it may be him is actually off the Football Manager game, been playing it the past few days and his name popped up on it coincidentally.

I wonder what the thinking is behind rovers playing Longford in Roadstone in the morning then Cobh in Tallaght in the afternoon, surely if youre going to play two games in one day you play them in the same place
sbgawa
08/01/2018, 6:07 PM
I'd say it's a combination of not wanting to play two games on the grass pitch in tallaght and afternoon underage games / academy sessions in roadstone.

I know that Kingswood is the nearest Luas stop to it so I more than likely will go to get my kick of early morning footie which is abnormal for me. If you were getting off at Kingswood whats the best directions to it SGBAWA please?

Cheeverstown is the nearest Luas stop to Roadstone.
sbgawa
08/01/2018, 8:27 PM
It's a 1.5 km walk from cheeverstown luas to roadstone. Get off at the luas and head for the naas road. You will see the grounds through the fence after about 1k. Easy peasy.

For the avoidance of any doubt I don’t actually give a flying feck where or indeed who we play in pre season.

I'd imagine it'll be an underage Rovers team in Roadstone and a senior one in Tallaght, or at the very least a mix with two different squads.

Dundalk have confirmed they are playing Brentford 'b' on Weds 7th Feb so i'd say the match v Harps is scratched :(

Finished 0-0 against Galway out in UL.
Very few chances at all, a couple of weak shots. Nothing much happened, except for a studs-up lunge from a Galway trialist that resulted in a straight red card.

for future reference for anyone going to Roadstone and not from dublin and getting off at Cheeverstown Luas stop it can get confusing.
The naas Road in question is the one out to Lucan and not to Citywest which I initially thought. Its very close to the N7 dual carriageway. Some facility Rovers have with their pitch and putt course plus pitches plus leisure complex.
I got completely lost and typed in address on google maps but because you are not near buildings I ended up on the N136 road the other way and ended up at Tallaght Leisure Complex close to the N81 road to Blessington! I had no choice but to call into them and order a taxi and head back the other way so I only managed to see the second half!

Tuesday:
Tramore AFC 0-1 Waterford FC (Dean Walsh)
Good run out 45 mins per player (1 got an hour) with 21 players used. 3 Trial players and 6/7 17’s 19’s featured
Friday:
Waterford FC 4 - 1 Wexford
Holohan x 2, Izzy and an OG for Waterford.. Dobbs for Wexford.
Again 3 trial players featured, and ended the game with mainly 19’s and 17’s.
Two good run outs this week.
Expect more first team players to feature for longer in a more serious game next Friday against Cabo... while on Saturday anyone who doesnt feature, and 17’s 19’s go to Cork to play MSC semi final.

Gary Shaw made two assists in a 3-1 pres-season match against Longford on Saturday.
While I have always considered him a very limited player, my admiration and respect for him has risen after reading about his hard work to make an early recovery from a horrific injury suffered towards the end of last season
