Rovers won on pens last night in the Atlantic Cup after a 0.0 draw.
Webster sent off.

That's under appeal as a case of mistaken identity

It's a strange result as CSN are usually pretty strong. They're managed by Liam Murphy and it's not too long ago that Shane Long used to be in their line up. He used to even score goals for them.

Waterford's friendly on Friday night they played a first choice 11 the sending off was avoidable, the new lad Stanley Opoku Aborah booked for the foul and then gets his marching orders for mouthing at referee not a debut to remember, in all fairness he looked good in thee short time on pitch and played significant part in goal

Close. He was penalised for a foul, but then Grant gave him the first yellow card because he didn't feel Aborah was paying close enough attention to him when he was scolding him :) Aborah then stupidly told him where to go and got a straight red card.

Colleges league games are what UCD mostly use for pre-season friendlies.

So it was effectively both

Following Dave McAllister's red card in the pre-season friendly against Dalkurd in Portugal, Johnny Ward offers some interesting observations on Rovers aggressive approach

Things, clearly, need to change in 2018 if Rovers are to launch a challenge for the title, as befitting their resources and history. So the video of another mass brawl, emerging from Tuesday night’s friendly game against Dalkurd, is not exactly encouraging.

Again, McAllister was chief villain, as he aggressively confronted an opposition combatant, despite not being involved in that series of play. In McAllister’s defence, Dalkur had just committed two pretty questionable challenges within seconds of each other; still, what is the bloody point of all this nonsense? (Rovers’ Twitter feed, for whatever reason, made no reference to the red card later given to McAllister!)

Start Quote from article: In so many ways, Stokes – whose father barred the Queen from visiting his Fairview boozer lest the temptation overcome her during her historic 2011 visit – fits the bill at the modern-day Shamrock Rovers. Bradley has made some astute signings – think Lee Grace, Burke and Greg Bolger – but unless his players behave like professionals, they have no realistic chance of winning the title this season. End Quote from Article

MOD EDIT: Broken bottle nonsense deleted.

Nothing whatsoever, but that's the trouble with todays world, every half wit with an internet account is a "Journalist"
He makes a few relevant points but its let down by his lack of ability to string a cogent argument together

This is the internet age.

Ye do realise Johhny Ward is actually a full time sports journalist for years & does LOI weekly with Dan McDonnell?

With regard to the point he made, maybe he didn't put it across well but basically he's saying Rovers need to get a grip on their discipline and adding another absolute head the ball to their squad just might not be the best way to go about it.

A lot of what John Ward writes is well reasoned but it must be pointed out since Pat Flynn booted that Bohs player up the Swiss right under the East stand in Mick O Neill's last year Rovers players never really showed the spirit and fight that has to be a given every time you put on a hooped jersey. That fight and passion was there for the first time last season since Mr Flynns lump up the backside. So now we have learned how to kick and tackle we just need to learn when it is judicious to do so. If Bradley can do this and finish closer to the top then it will be a good season, do i think he can, not sure tbh. Its gonna be an interesting season.

This had better improve when the season kicks off, the multiple suspensions hurt us last year.

Stunning equalizer (on Rovers Twitter feed if anyone wants to see it) from Sean Boyd finished 1-1 , lost on penos :(

I think it was the 2014 or 2015 season where Harps had 14 red cards through the season.

Ezeikial
06/02/2018, 3:16 PM
Including a red for Seannie himself this highly disciplined group managed to amass 20 red cards. This included 3 in a famous 2-2 draw with Sligo (Dundalk pipped Sligo to a Euro spot as a result), Dave Rogers getting a mooning red (& a P45 & unfair dismissals compo), Fabio getting 2 cards for dissent that ruled him out for a trip back to Drogheda where he previously had a pigs head flung at him) and Mental Mickey just picking up random cards for the craic.

That was certainly a colourful season at Dundalk

20 is quite ambitious ,
I actually am hopeful that we will be more disciplined this year, the suspensions killed us last year not to mention the points in the actual matches.
we will see

Remember coaching staff also count. So if Darren Dillon. Glenn Cronin and Bradser remain true to form its possible. Two reds in preseason is an impressive start from the players.

Pre season reds don't count. If we are going for the record it'll have to be in competitive gamws

sbgawa

No way! The Atlantic Cup is competitive. Rovers on 2 reds, 18 to go!

Bradser accepts the 20 card challenge:

Bradser says "Our style won't change"

"The two sending-offs were sending-offs, so we just have to accept it"

Very good pre-season game for Dundalk. The young-guns from Brentford definitely got stuck-in in the 1st half which was much to Dundalks surprise.
Dundalk matched their tempo 2nd half and fully deserved the win with two excellent goals.

Connolly hasn't set himself on fire for us yet and he needs to start doing that fast.
Hoban not even on a team sheet since he's got here is not a good sign

Great attitude from us on Wednesday though, side looks to be clicking together.
