Brilliant to see that for Molumby and Doyle-Hayes.

Apparently former Brighton player Warren Aspinall was commentating on BBC Sussex raving about Molumby. He reckoned he made the goal and was "great."

A quick Twitter search of Doyle-Hayes would infer he has been even better.

I've been told that Doyle-Hayes is an exceptional talent. Liamo, any thoughts?

Harry Charsley got the winner for Everton U23s against Derby tonight: https://www.premierleague.com/match/23038/premier-league-2/2017-18/derby-v-everton. Elsewhere Josh Barrett got an assist for Reading. Oddly enough, Brighton U23s were playing tonight and none of our quartet there (Hutchinson, Molumby, Mandroiu and Connolly) was even in the squad - is there a chance a couple of them will make an appearance in the EFL Cup tomorrow evening?

Rice playing centre half likely his long term position? Certainly where he played for us underage

Yeah, pretty sure it's where he played for West Ham underage sides too. Just not experienced enough yet to play there at senior level, similar to Coleman starting on the wing for Everton, and then Blackpool on loan, before moving to full back

Coleman's spell at Blackpool really was a fun time really enjoyable. Funny how lads git obsessed then that he was a right winger and couldn't play full back for us cause he wasn't playing there for everton. We can be awful rigid in our thinking as Ireland fans . Will be like when Maguire plays on the right side of long with mcgeady on the left against Moldova lads will be going nuts that he is not up top even though I doubt he has played as the main striker for Preston since he has been there considering hugill seems to always play

Good signing for Millwall. Unlike a lot of young players he's physically strong enough for the Championship already. If he holds down a regular starting place at Millwall, which he should do, he will get an Ireland Senior call up before too long. Hopefully he gets an injury free run this season.

Only a two year contract at Brighton though, would have thought they'd want to tie him down for longer before sending him out on loan.

Brilliant. And a great pro to play beside him in Shaun Williams. Maybe not Afolabi though- that guy could end up anywhere.

Good point. I wonder if he has passed on Millwall by now and is looking at a PL or Continental side.

Is he training anywhere to keep fit? Its a bit strange that he hasnt signed anywhere by now to be ready for the new season. I bet he ends up at Shamrock Rovers!

Not sure. He was training with Rovers. This article from PunditArena stated he had plenty options in the PL and Championship: https://punditarena.com/football/oisinmcqueirns2758/jonathan-afolabi-ireland-crystal-palace/

Worth noting that Molumby did not take part in yesterday’s under 23 game vs Leeds. I anticipate that he should be involved on Wednesday and Saturday. Millwall have 2 back to back games which is a perfect opportunity. If Harris was still concerned on his fitness then he’d be getting a run out with the under 23s. This is all assuming he’s not injured of course!

Given how the game went for Millwall there should be first team opportunities coming up for him if he can get fit.

Starts today vs Leeds, back to back starts. A great day for the Brighton Irish. I watched the game vs Luton midweek. He did okay, some nice touches. He was pushed out wide right in second half which didn’t suit him. Millwall are awful though, no attempt to play football and are devoid of any real talent. Difficult environment for a young midfielder. James Collins was very impressive, unlucky not to score at least 2 goals. Happy with him in our senior squad.

I was delighted that Neil Harris resigned. Hopefully Millwall’s new manager will try to play some football which will suit Molumby‘s development. I don’t think his old manager Hughton will take job. It’s an unattractive job with limited budget, their only options will be to poach one of the promising managers in the lower leagues such as Mark Cooper or else go for an ex player (hopefully they won’t go this route)

I don’t know if your man on final score ( BBC ) was having a laugh with Jonathan Walters and Kevin Kilbane but he said that Roy Keane was favourite for the Millwall Job . So either Keane is the butt of the Joke or he is a runner .

tommy_c12000
05/10/2019, 4:35 PM
He’s emerged as joint favorite with bookies apparently.

Molumby with 90 minutes today. Great 2-1 win over Leeds. Committed several fouls and was lucky not to get sent off by all accounts, did receive another yellow card. Also felt on Wednesday he lost the discipline a bit. Will need to try to learn to control emotions going forward, similar to our new superstar Connolly. The Brighton boys do have a bit of fire in their bellies that will land them in trouble every now and again, but hopefully won’t be a major issue for either going forward

I’d be hoping for a better man / team manager than Keane . Surely there must be more positive options than Keane out there .

Per report, he had a great game today, from one of the better posters on their fans website:

“Molumby was outstanding in CM. Energy to spare he had time to challenge, win the ball, lay off a good pass and got my MoM. Fergie played very well, laid off a great ball for Bradshaw’s goal and never let us down. Ben was full of energy but tired at the end but still played very well. Bradshaw looked sharp and full of running and scored a great goal and ran Molumby a close second for MOM.”

He had a right hefty challenge late on in the U21 game in Sweden too and was penalised for at least one act of simulation in Toulon. Still, looks a quality player and maybe we could do with someone who plays on the edge a bit, within reason.

A thread on the Millwall forum from this weekend on Molumby. Reflects a lot of what people

say on this forum. He has the propensity to lose the head that needs to be coached out of him. But he has got ability and should have a good career in the game.

Whisper this but I see a lot of Roy Keane in him. Not saying he's the next Roy Keane but he has the drive, divilment, passing, aggression and ball control traits.

Also, he is getting a good run in the team and we are 4 months into a 10 month season.

I had the same thought regarding Roy Keane, definitely some of the same characteristics. To answer one of those posters' questions, he has four yellow cards in nine matches, so not quite one per game as suggested. He did pick up three of those in consecutive matches alright. I see he's being compared to Dennis Wise on there too.

Excellent performance again tonight as Millwall beat Bristol City away 2-1 by all accounts. He has now established a himself with Williams in the centre, millwall 4 points off play off spot. Rowett replacing Harris has been huge for Jayson, with Millwall now playing attractive passing football. He will be remaining at Millwall for the rest of the season (I’ve read Brighton can’t recall him as he has featured regularly) and is on trajectory to be a premier league regular next season. I would have pushed for Slovakia consideration, but I watched him last month in 2 games for millwall and he isn’t quite ready. Will see how he develops over the Christmas schedule.

Having watched a good deal of Brighton this season, he certainly should have the ability to break into their team next season, if he stays injury free. Stephens is very average, while Propper is technically very good with a great range of passing, he does tend to lose the ball a bit and is poor defensively.

Delighted to hear that it's going well for Molumby at Millwall. If he can have a free run of injuries for the next year or two I'm convinced he'll develop into the commanding central midfielder we've been lacking.
