Can't disagree with your points above and actually believe that the lack of signings is down to the inability to get rid of some of the current squad. However a few home wins would go a long way to calm the natives and give Mcdonald some breathing room.

if we make europe this year and thats a big if.......would markets field be able to host these games or will we have play in thomand park or somewhere like that? i know it has hosted international matches over the last 2/3 years but they were schoolboy and women games and i doubt there isnt much criteria needed to host them.........

Jofspring

Could probably host first round or so but the further you get the better standard the stadium needs to be. In saying that we won't finish ahead of Derry or Shamrock Rovers. Probably not ahead of Bray either if they steady the ship there.

Ya Ian Turner.

If Turner is gone then we need more signings by the weekend.

Mullhall out, Turner out, Kainz Out, Walsh out.

Crowe In, Cameron In.

I don't really know anything about him. Is he any use? He's not a Ronaldo sort, doing 10 stepovers every time he's one on one is he?

Usually he's not interested enough to even try a second stepover. One week he can look a world beater and then he can go missing for game after game!

He was very good for most of the 8-9 games we went on the run and nearly avoided relegation and some will still tell you he is a very good player based off that but in reality that's probably his only good period in nearly 60 games here.

He's a good freekick taker and a good crosser of the ball, but he is too timid and poor at working the space to get the cross in. He disappears in too many games.

He can't play anywhere other than right wing and in no way is he an improvement on Conan Byrne.

I knew after his display against Charlton he would not wear a limerick shirt again he was truly awful no effort the difference between him in the first half and steven kenny in the second was streets apart , he has ability but his attitude is all wrong consistency of performance is a massive problem , he went to cork hardly got a game came back to limerick didn't seem interested in being out there

The little Japanese guy that's been hanging around a few weeks.

Some Irish left full that played in Welsh second tier last. I think there's some family link in the club somewhere.

And darragh rainsford.

Was grim enough up there.

2-2 on twitter. Who scored?

Japanese lad got both.

Have heard he doesn't look great and I know it was the Bridge and Pike but 4 goals in two games is a good return.

Killian Kingston was training with the Boro. Was playing Welsh first division so I think second tier and has moved to Limerick as he has family here.

We need to be looking at stronger than that if we are looking to replace what's left.

Vinny Faherty rumoured to be going to Sligo. Would be a good option.

If the 4 that have left were never going to be picked by Macdonald, then they don't absolutely have to be replaced as the team hasn't been weakened at all. We get to save some payroll and they don't get their time wasted so makes sense all round. Of course we need strengthening but it appears at this stage Europe was never a goal by the club.

If we pick up an injury or two we could be in big trouble. They may not have been in his plans as starters but you still need some depth in the squad.

Looking at Limerick's current transfer policy we're more likely to sign Darragh Rainsford, who was previously turfed out of the club than Vinny Faherty. The mind boggles.

Definitely a new broom sweeping clean feel to this but we wanted an omelette so we can't be crying too much over the broken eggs that's needed to make it I guess.

You have to think he is very confident of more than one impressive arrival in the window, to be swinging the axe like this.

Interesting few days ahead chaps.

How is his 'physique' of late though ? Were I being well paid to be a professional athlete, I might reasonably expect to keep myself such that I'm at least not bulging out of the club shirt. Etc.

Robbie is a very good player and if he had got himself in shape he would easily be one of the best centre backs in Ireland.

Every pre-season for the last three years I've heard it said Robbie is in the best shape yet but come the start of the season he never looks it.

The players have been transfer listed not released. They can stay and fight for their places if they want. Obviously in most cases once you are transfer listed you are gone but you never know.

26/07/2017, 10:34 PM
The only one of those three that would worry me is O'Connor, would have liked to have seen more of him. Think Shaun and Robbie will find other clubs but realistically they're not players for a top-half club if that's what we want to be.

That said, I hope there are replacements lined up soon..

Honestly a bit concerned about the financial situation at the club.

Mastershake87
26/07/2017, 10:39 PM
This is bizarre. None of these guys are world betters but they are good squad players and are conceivable better than some of those currently playing. I'd definitely have Shaun Kelly starting over a converted Dean Clarke. Do we even have a proper right back other than Kelly? O'Conor is a decent back up midfielder while Robbie who I always felt was liability will be missed for his leadership in the squad.

We are half way through a season and we are nowhere near safe from relegation. For McDonald to start swinging the axe like this now is crazy stuff. This has the potential to destabilise the squad and leave us short in many areas. We are already well down at left back and left midfield but you can now add centre midfield and right back to that. I doubt there are 4/5 players ready to come in in less then a week that are better than what we already have.

Lim till i die
26/07/2017, 10:49 PM
McDonald is wielding the axe that this club has been crying out for more or less ever since Pat started waving money around.

You can't be nicey nicey touchy feely and win things.

I'll be especially sorry to see Shaun Kelly go a gentleman and not a bad player.

But the lads being left go the last week are victims of a malaise that's been around the club years.

It's way too early to say if Neil McDonald is any good or not but even in his short time here he has done the club some service.

I think a couple of stragglers will be brought in to bring us coasting to the end of yet another expensive pointless season (we are absolutely safe from relegation) with McDonald starting again next January.

I've heard the rumours about the finances aswell but I think rumours of our demise are gonna be exaggerated over the next week or so.. seems to be a big rift between the new boss and the old boss.

You'd imagine (or hope to Jesus ) he wouldn't go all in like this unless he's fairly sure he won't have to ask them to put on a shirt and do their best for him at the weekend.

Wtf is going on , Robbie Williams has looked out of shape all season and has got worse which can't be good clanger in cork was the start of his demise , real shame as already said not many better in the league when he's going well a top defender and has leadership qualities be sorry to see him go , Shaun Kelly and Paul o Connor very solid surely a fallout more than there ability to end up on transfer list , I heard mc donald is ruthless but pressing too many buttons at once can be a receipy for disaster and it seems that way last few weeks .

But we are five points ahead of St Pats with a game in hand on them too, the same club that came to the Markets and gave us an awful f*cking not very long ago in the final, which we had to lie back and take off them cos we couldn't get the ball. So surely there has to have been improvement of some shape or form since no ?

I think there is a risk that we get dragged into a relegation battle especially if pats and galway go on runs. However there is no comparison between this team and the one which started the relegation season.

Big bold move by McDonald. Big bold moves can either be a catalyst for some positive, much needed change or they can come back to hit you a knockout blow. I hope he has a plan....

Maybe with the new assistant in the both of them have looked at the squad and feel the risk is worth it to maybe change an attitude within the club?

Only time will tell. There is a bit of hysteria alright but you can understand because of the players that are transfer listed would be well liked players.

It's football though, a few decent signings and fans will quickly forget.

The "performance" against Galway was one of the worst displays Iv ever witnessed in many years. The Sligo game was pretty awful too. Maybe being favourites doesn't suit us. Honestly can't see us getting anything against pats and Dundalk unless they really pull it out of the bag.
As someone above noted. We are lucky there are some truly awful teams in this years league. Otherwise we would be in the mire already

Something must have happened behind the scenes that we don't know about. And my thinking behind that is because as long as I've followed the club on social media platforms, I can't ever remember it being announced on any of them that we transfer listed players.

It looks like a statement is being made to the rest of the squad by this.

I'm still baffled why we're putting our only recognised right back on it though.
