Anyone with Eircom for broadband can get Eir sports and BT activated on a sky box. They don't have to be a sky customer, just have to ring them up with a viewing card number and the channels will then clear on any old sky box.

Ring Sky or Eircom?

Eir as far as I know, same as how people signed up with Setanta.

A noticeable few people I know have been watching the games on Eir. Cork and Dundalk's impressive performances a long with Eir Sports enthusiasm for showing the games seems to be something of a hit.

While Sky will be showing EPL league games on Friday nights soon, I can't see Eir just offering no option at the same time. I've never been a fan of RTE's coverage. It wouldn't bother me to see Eir Sport take over full coverage of the domestic action.

Apparently we have 3,500 tickets sold already for Thursday's game.

It has to be a sell out. The bandwagoners will come out for this one. What a chance for Cork, they can take this Genk side.

We do love a bandwagon down here.

It is a great chance, but Genk will still, rightfully, be odds on. They won't get it easy though.

There'll be a thread there from about an hour before the match with a variety of options.

Interesting to compare their keeper under pressure from kick offs never hits it out on the full like rogers did everytime last week.

These lads are negating dundalk handy this far in the final third like they did last year.

Im hearing stupid english football terraces chants here i thought that was only for barstoolers :D

For some reason, it was only at the very start - just when they were talking through the teams.

The sound was a bit mooted throughout as well - don't really think the atmosphere came across!

How did the crowd sound in general on TV lads. I was in the "neutral" stand - the one where you could buy tickets on the night. I couldn't believe how stupid it was of Eir to put the microphones on our side of the pitch, instead of the far side where all the hardcore Dundalk fans were making all the noise. I'm sure it would have come across much louder if they had put the microphones on the other side.

I was only watching on a Ukrainian stream of eir, but which had no commentary. Crowd sound was very mooted - but I suspect it was to do with the stream. Certainly the celebrations looked manic!

Atmosphere was electric, never seen anything like it involving a LOI team. Even the neutral stand (which was totally full by the way) was hoping after the goals went in. Privilege to be there last night and great to see so many neutral LOI jerseys on display. Lots of LOI players and managers in that stand as well.

True that! I saw Bohs, Rovers, Pats, Derry and many other jersyes on show. Liam Buckley was also standing beside me with his young lad. He seems a sound skin, Liam.

Didn't hear an official figure but i'd guess it was approx 5.5k

Good bit less than that. Capacity is 5,700 or similar and plenty of space in both stands. Maybe 5k total

Excellent turn out

It was hard to judge the crowd in the Dundalk (west) stand. Yes there were a few hundred free seats at the away (north) section, but i know a few hundred Dundalk lads piled into the south end of the west stand where they were doubling up in seats and standing in the isles etc.. Either way, everyone in attendance (except the 3 BATE fans) roared Dundalk on, which was great to see

Yeah I noticed that, I read also that main stand was sold out beforehand, couldn't really get enough from the TV to see how full the opposite stand was. Doesn't main stand in Tallaght hold 3200 and east 2800?

Dodge

No. East stand is a good bit smaller than that. Capacity is 5,700 (with an odd number on the end there I can't remember)

Charlie Darwin
04/08/2016, 12:30 AM
The Main Stand holds a little over 3,000 officially, but take out a couple of hundred for the empty BATE section. The main stand holds a bit less than 3,000. Dundalk's part of the main stand was overcrowded so I'd say up to 3,000 there. Then maybe 1,500-2,000 in the east stand.

GCdfc
04/08/2016, 8:46 AM
According to the SDCC website the capacity is 6000. So the west (main) stand would have to have a capacity of well over 3000 since the east stand is a lot smaller.

It must be because Celtic are involved. They had no interest in Dundalk previously.

Main stand in Tallaght is 3,048 seats (though some are out of use typically for segregation). Can't remember the official figure for the East stand but it's about 2,700 so the capacity is indeed in the 5,700 range. That 6,000 figure is inaccurate. It's obviously rounded up as stadiums typically don't have such perfectly round numbers of seats. Not that this is particularly relevant. Hup Cork.

Don't be giving them publicity they don't deserve! :-) It's live on UEFA website and probably Sky Sports News, Eurosport etc etc
