Bolger (16 year old signing pro forms today) will play for ireland senior team one day....now there's sticking your neck out : )
Scored against Southampton u18's today in a 3 nil win for rovers, will be shocked if he is still in Ireland when he's 18.

Thats probably why theyve put him on a pro contract cause you get more compinsation for players are were on pro deals and also depending on how long theyve been on them for so by giving him one early theyre maximising the compinsation/fee theyll get

You might have got that a little bit screwed up.
By putting him on a pro contract they can demand a transfer fee as opposed to compensation.

but also if his contract ends and hes under 23(?) and someone signs him on a free they can demand a bigger compensation as far as I know. I think contract type is one of the things the committee that decide compensation to be paid look at along with appearances and stuff. So a player on youth terms would get the club a smaller compensation then a player on a professional contract, which is what I was getting at.

The length or type of previous contracts is irrelevant once they expires. The only thing factored into compensation is the perceived value of the player divided by the number of years spent at the club.

The contract type would be relevant when it comes to a domestic transfer in that the player will have to be on professional forms for two seasons before you'll get any compensation for him. Not sure about international I think you may be right in that scenario that it's purely length of time at the club between 12 and 23.

is this a wind up?
In fairness he never said what their intent was.
It could be their intention to defend really badly.
It could be their intention to build their team around a terrible footballer.
It could be their intention to admire pointless fifty yard cross field diagonal balls.
When you bring in a nobody from wexford and give him a shoestring budget the possibilities are endless.

How good is Phillip Gannon Longford fans? Only seen him in the two games at Galway, but he seem to have a bit about him. Now that could be an average player playing in a really poor team.

useless imo the only notable thing that he did was have a go at town fans on twitter for givin him stick on the terraces and one of our fans got threatened by one of his friends so good riddance to him!

Based on last season he's not someone you want to be relying on if you're battling to stay up. He has a certain amount of ability and can pass it well enough if he gets time on the ball but he's not into the physical side of it at all. He is still young though (19/20 I think) so he might push on yet.

The worse midfielder to ever wear red and black. Pulls out of every single tackle, can't head a ball, hides from receiving the ball, when he gets it he punts it into the corners in an attempt to make it look like a good pass or he passes it back to the goalkeeper to keep his stats up. His attitude was absoutle rotten, one of those lads who thinks he's gods gift coz he was in England. Bohs fans will have him for breakfast if he pulls out of tackles in the Derby il tell ya that.

I wish the lad luck at Galway.
Never really worked for him at City.
A lot of people felt there was a good player in him but for some reason he never fulfilled that potential.
Alex Byrne re signed today would expect four or five more of last years squad plus u19's signed on Pro Contracts soon. Goalkeeper is a vital spot for us were linked with Sligo's no. 2 Ciaran Nugent .

(https://twitter.com/ShamrockRovers/status/823606210133917697) tonight - I think Ryan Swan is the only name missing. (So far as I'm aware, Langtry is signing back)

Dundalk FC are pleased to announce the signing of Michael Duffy from Celtic on a permanent deal, with the winger hoping to “get back enjoying football again” as he returns home from a two-year spell in Scotland.
Duffy had been on loan at Scottish Premiership side Dundee but was recalled by Champions Celtic on Tuesday night, and will travel to Spain on Wednesday evening to link up with Stephen Kenny’s squad at their training camp base in Salou.

There is a quiet contentment among Dundalk fans over on orielweb about how the squad is shaping up.
While there may be a signing or two yet to happen (McCourt hopefully), there is a growing belief that we might even make the top three next season.

Top three is Cork City's to lose in my opinion.
