Are you having a laugh about Shaw going to England or joining a top 3 team?
Yeah, seemingly there's no shortage of clubs after a striker who hasn't scored in 16 games.
He works hard though

I like Shaw, he has a Conor Sammon quality in the fact he is quite gd with his back to goal & gets through a lot of work, it depends if you only judge a striker on his goals? A player can get 15+ goals a season but often be a passenger the rest of the time so the team is basically playing with 10 men. Players of Shaw's ilk can help improve the whole sides levels without looking too flashy
Having said all that I think Shaw's limit is a mid level LOI side

Kelly is ok as Premier Division strikers go from what I've seen of him over the years. If we keep Shaw then Kelly, Shaw and O'Sullivan will give us options up front with Kaleem Simon as a prospect to be developed. If we're swapping Kelly for Shaw I'm not sure it's much of an upgrade.
Signing Kelly would put Longford in a strong position to reel in the 9/10 point gap to a fifth place finish and the associated jackpot prize money

Not if we sell shaw tho. If we keep the SOS and sign Kelly then it's certainly going to be worth a few extra points to us but hopefully the additions don't stop there. Could do with some cover at the back and maybe even another winger given our current injury situations.

Darren Mansaram worked his socks off, didnt score many, and was a passanger and had a Conor Sammon quailty about him - he was the worst likeable player ever at Dundalk. A striker is all about goals imo and thats the only way to rate them. Maybe your point stands for a target man type but you would still expet them to chip in with the goals. Most Dundalk fans are judging McMillan on his strike rate and he really does work his socks off, running the channels and creating space for the attacking midfielders but a 15-20 goals a season is what is wanted and needed.

You have to think about the overall team & not just the one player, you could swap McMillan out for someone like Ciaran Kilduff who is a better goal scorer but the team could be worse off as you are not winning the ball back up as high up the pitch or he doesnt create the space for you midfielders to run off him.
Dundalk are a great example of fitting a team together that plays to everyones strengths, as most of that side bar Towell, had just been mid level LOI players before the start of last season
Bar 6 months at Cork, Kilduff couldn't really be seen as a goal scorer. If Dundalk had a top striker they'd probably have won every game so far. Testament to their strength that McMillan isn't more of a hindrance.
FWIW, Shaw is a very good player too IMO. Himself and Kelly could work well together.
Bohs look to have problems up front too now. Strange one

Kilduff supposed to be on his way to Dundalk. Would have thought a bad move for him as Kenny rarely changes up his starting 11 and McMillan is doing well as the front man as it stands.
Rumours still floating around here about new faces coming in. They need to be in and available for Saturday or it really is a waste them coming in.

Very strange move by us to offload Kelly. Playing well and you couldn't doubt his dedication, after missing some of his sister's Wedding to play against Rovers. Leaves us very light up front. I'll give KL the benefit of the doubt but it does concern me.

Strange one alright, maybe we are making room for Damien Duff, who apparently is going to sign for all the Dublin clubs and play for a different team every week.Niall Quick is drawing up the the necessary rule change in consultation with his contacts from Malawai's second most popular sports channel.

Is Griffen geting a regular game or is he sprung from the bench with Bohs?

He was injured and out for the season maybe five or six weeks ago. Akinade was signed to replace him. He was first choice and Kelly/Byrne usually off the bench.

Was he fook, he only had two token League Cup starts as part of the Boh League Cup B-team all the way until late April when he got given two back-to-back league starts before going back to his place as a sub.
No biggie with Dean Kelly leaving either, geezer had 5 goals to his name all season and about three quality performances but he was hardly an outstanding performer.

These clubs doing some striking merry-go-round with average LOI journeymen would do well to cast their eyes over to Ryan Swan.

He'd be expensive though as he's under 23. In other news Gary Shaw is not going to be sold to a LOI club this month but could go to England yet.

The latest foreign trialist for Harps comes by the name of Ata Ozbay, an American striker, in from the PSC Academy, the same folks we got Wilfried Tagbo from and that toured here in pre-season.

Wexford have signed ex Celtic reserve Paul Cahillane.
He's been mainly playing GAA last few years but had a huge 14-15 season in the LSL for hometown club Portlaoise.

Anthony O Donnell has gone back to Cobh.
Evan Galvin has signed for the Blues.
So far we've released close to ten players and signing 4/5 from what I've heard.
Signing 29 players in preseason was completely pointless.
Any chance of a list of who has left and who they have signed for? And also who has come in and who they have signed from? Cheers

Eric Foley to Longford possibly. Think he left Athlone once Mathews got the job coz they don't like each other.

The UCD keeper Corbett is bound to turn heads too. I was very impressed with him in the 1st leg.

Eric Foley is a player who has been constantly linked with LTFC in recent years, I know he can play a few different positions but can Drogs fans tell us what his man position is as I'd be eager to see the thinking behind this signing.

Central Mid is his best position. He's ok. His best attribute is his excellent free kicks.

Hopefully it's not true that we've signed him so because he simply won't get a look in at centre midfield

What's the chances of his mate Robbie Keane joining him next?

Good player if he put his mind to it, but unlikely to happen. He fell out with Cooke in 2013, Horgan in 2014 & and now Mathews?

Limerick's problems will soon be over:
[Pat O'Sullivan] told RTÉ Sport: “I need to bring in quality players now to help us get out of where we are at. I don't see them in Ireland, so I am looking around. We can't get them from England, I would love to see the English windows match in Ireland because there is an awful lot of young players that come free in England at the end of their season and we can't sign them until July.
“And then the English season is open again so then we lose that chance generally.
“So what do we do? I'm sitting at home, I'm watching Shirley Valentine the other night with my wife Helen and I'm saying the Greeks are technically very good at football, austerity has to [have] had [an effect] and football must be suffering. So why not look at that?
“They are Europeans so why not look at them as regards looking at any other country. So, what we did was I got my daughter Pam to Google and find the players union in Greece and emailed them and told them what we were looking for. They have sent us details of certain players.
“We have spoken to the individual players and the terms and conditions we have agreed. Now we have to look at bringing them for trials when we are ready to do that which has to be done and in place by the end of this month. If I can find players do a job for me in Limerick, particularly in the short-term and possibly in the long-term, the Irish go to England and different countries so why can't the Greeks come here.”

Its erm...... interesting alright.
Not too sure why he needs to put it in the media that he gets his daughter to google around for players though? Sounds very amateur hour to me. Is he unable to scout for players without the help of Pam and her trusty laptop??
Don't get me wrong they may get a gem out of it, but any need to go into this detail? It makes the club look like a proper amateur organisation and its all the league needs with the goings on in Sligo and Bray over the last few weeks.
