Town have signed Jack Doherty recently released by Waterford. Meh. He's talented but seems to have a poor attitude.

That's an awfully strange signing for Longford. He hasn't exactly set the First Division alight with bottom of the table Waterford.

From what he did for Limerick last season I'd say Longford have signed a dud!

We need a winger and he's a young lad with a point to prove, what's strange about it. Nothing to say hel even be starting for us it's just an extra option that is badly badly needed.

My point is, he's been crap this season and has a crap attitude to go with it. Waterford done a great job getting rid of him, now for a Premier Division club to sign him just seems strange.

He has enough ability to do well based on the few times I saw him at Waterford. But obviously there's question marks about whether he'll apply himself. I assume he's not costing much.

Could have sworn I saw a post saying Jack Doherty signed for Wexford. Maybe I dreamt it though.

The link above should work.

"Limerick are also in the market for a midfielder and a striker"

They're aiming to go down with the greatest LOI midfield ever assembled, I think. Replace Oji ffs, there's about half a decent centreback in the entire squad.

Had a quick look there, scored 17 in 65 games over 3 years for Killie, 1 for Derby in 83, 1 for Wigan in 32 and 4 in 34 out on loan to Ipswich and Rotherham. Now if thats worth £1.2mil+ then Vinny Faherty must be at least 10k :p Fagan 400k!!?

Sammon could be the luckiest pro footballer ever!!

He has a lot more than that in fairness.

oooh, and Droghs have made two signings. Ex-Dundalk youth player, Kaguako and some randomer called James Daly.

http://www.droghedaunited.ie/news/post.php?s=2015-06-29-daly-adds-to-drogs-signings

"Randomer" - what does that even mean?
Does it just mean that you have never heard of him, or is it something more profound than that?

Manny Kaguako is a strong athletic young player who can play in either full back positions. I expect he will get some game time at Drogheda this season and may be one to watch for the future

The former. No disrespect to the lad and his followers.

I was happy we got rid of Doherty. This is the lads fifth club in two years which pretty much says it all tbh.

Definitely a strange signing by Longford very surprising signing too. He could go on and be a starting first team LOI premier player no hassle but because of he's attitude I highly doubt it will happen. This is he's last chance so who knows.

No mention of Lynch on the Limerick website still, even in the preview for the Bray game so maybe still not confirmed.

Not sure why they haven't announced him as signed but the sports news this morning said they are waiting for clearance for him to play on Saturday. He has been training the last week with the team out in UL.

Bray sign Peter Cherrie. Good signing.

Great signing for Bray. Cherrie was a top player and good servant for Dundalk for six years. It will be hard to see him play for another club. Really hope it works out for him.

It will be tough seeing Cherrie wearing another team's shirt. However, I wish him all the best. He was a great keeper for Dundalk.

Would have thought a goalkeeper was well down the list of priorities for Bray with young McGuinness doing well there.

I'm surprised he has signed for Bray considering the manager has just left due to money issues. He was a good keeper for us but not brilliant, and while I'm not sure we have improved our goalkeeper that much, I think it says a lot about Cherrie that his best option was Bray.

If Bray is imploding, as is suspected, we'll take Cherrie - badly need a decent keeper

I cant believe that's true. Fenlon said a month ago they couldn't afford him. Wonder were the bucks are coming from.

He won't be match fit for a good 2 months yet too, Rovers are out of title race basically at the minute, in 2 months it will be well and truely beyond them as Fenlon seems more concerned with not losing than winning

Has the board not been to any of our games? And if they have, have they not stayed out of the hospitality room??

Everybody knows we need a new goalkeeper WB but there was/is no money to bring Cherrie in and it seems the board are trying to cut their cloth to measure which is sensible.

I've heard if we're going to bring players in, we will have to let some go beforehand. Cherrie agreed to join us but Dunne wouldn't release any high earners... a few days later Bray swooped in and signed him.

Then there's the question of whether he's actually up to it any more. He's had a lot of injuries in recent years.

Similar with most of Fenlon's previous clubs, they still signed the players on big wages though

I have no problem with being financially prudent, it makes a nice change. I wouldn't have had a problem with Oji being shown the door, he has been a massive disappointment, but can't see too many other high earners (Connolly? Keegan? And define 'high earner'!!) and wouldn't be inclined to release them either

Don't Rovers have the guy that owns Pepper pumping money into them? Thought that's how they sign most their big earners? Probably the same case with Duff.

Do you think Damian is a prima donna? He's had his injuries for sure but he never struck me as a player who would pick and choose games.

in playing terms and team performance wise, i dont think it is the smartest move, but everything else it brings arguably justifies the move.
in terms of cold hard cash, reveneue will go up straight away as a result, and will probably help rovers get a few more quid sponsorship.
Its not as tangiable, but in the eyes of the general public, it further cememnts Rovers position as the big show in town. uuuuggghh i hate even saying that

We'll see. I'll be interested to see him play when Rovers visit Oriel Park to try and close the 10 point gap.
