there is what is partly wrong with football in Shannon
Very true! But sure everyone around Shannon knows the players who always turn up for games and those who go missing so after that it's up to the managers who they want to pick.

Isn't the majority of teams that are involved from the Clare League ? Olympic, Rineanna, Bridge, Newmarket - surely Clare refs could be used if that's the case ? Plus it's a pre-season tournament, I would have thought whomever you wanted to ref it could ref it ?

sure why not get Olympic to host it to get around that red tape. surely its of benefit to the clare teams to get this played as its would help with pre-season?

Not allowed .. both leagues have a rule in place whatever team league is based in playing friendly / tournament ref's have to be appointed from that league .. clare league refs wont do it as they would get reported to both leagues and get in trouble..

nothing like a bit of 'who owns it' to get in the way of running a pre-season tournament. maybe they should not bother with it at all.
Why do people not give suggestions for making it happen instead of just putting road blocks up......must be fun that

I could be wrong but I have a vague memory of it being held on bunratties pitch a good few years ago.....

Lads ye are losing the plot. Its a shannon town tournament. Therefore the have to apply to their league to hold it. Therefore have to use limerick refs unless given the okay from ldmc

And what thanks did bunratty get for that. They struggled for a team a few years later and got thrown out and never invited again

Are you trying to say that because Bunratty helped with the tournament for one year, that there was some sort of responsibility for Shannon Town to ensure Bunratty could field a team ? And if they couldn't they should just allow Bunratty to play in the tournament every year anyway ? Regardless of them having a team or not. To be fair to all involved, if a team enters the competition, but then can't field a team, there has to be some sort of consequences ? Really don't understand the point of your last post Second ?

LDMC and the refs association are a joke at this stage, whatever about being on strike over the league but stopping teams from playing friendlies is ridiculous! If a clare team is playing a limerick team ina friendly which league refs have the rights to it just out of interest?

Whoevers at home has to organise the ref so alot of limerick teams will have to travel to play friendlies in other counties due to strike.

It depends where the match is on as home team have to ask if ok to have a friendly..

I have to agree. I dont see what your point is. What thanks do you expect them to get? I'm sure they were thanked at the time for giving over their pitch and all that. But that doesn't them give them carte blanche to be in the tournament when they can/can't field a team...it's an invitational competition as far as I know.

My point was every club struggles at some stage surely they could have respected them enough to ask them the following year would they be able to field a team..in my opinion the wesley webb should be between the shannon teams..6 teams 45 mins a half and run it off over a week..

Again whats the point?
Maybe Bunratty didn't want to come back...
We dont know the reasoning that goes on during committee meetings and to come on here an imply that Shannon Town took advantage of the Bunratty's kind offer seems ridiculous...
You must have your big spoon out looking to stir it...

You seem to be looking for an argument..where did i say shannon town took advantage of anyone. So don't put words in my mouth ok.i have no need to stir. I was playing in bunratty at the time and was told we were not invited back.. thats why I made my post .. maybe shannon town had there reasons but I personally thought it was bad form.. also maybe someone from bunratty commitee had told them not to invite them again. Not sure

Having an argument on the internet is like trying to solve an algebra equation with chewing gum....Pointless
You asked what thanks Bunratty got...I'm sure they got plenty when they offered their pitch.
If they then couldn't field a team after that that's not Shannon towns issue.
Back on point, if Hibs had 20 training last night then that's great. Would really hate to see them struggle. Love a local derby!!!

I agree most of them wouldn't! The 2 regans? Derek Maxwell? Steo Dolan? New lad called Andy they signed from limerick can play ball aswel! All of them would make shannon town b team I think anyway. Shannon Olympic A v shannon town B on Thursday, Shannon Olympic B v Town B on Sunday

Am I correct in saying Ray is the only Shannon Olympic player who has played with them for more than 2years? Watch Shannon Olympic fold like a deck of cards in a couple of years. Bar Ray none of those players will stick around when things go south and they eventually will. Where are all the regular Olympic players gone like the real Olympic club men who's were at the club for a good length of time. Shower of mercenaries same players all the time.

Seems to be all ex-hibs players there now...
Yeah you're right. Is Cheeky still there? Gary Higgins will do well, him and cheeky should get enough goals between 'em to be safe for the season. Jamie Egan and Brian Mc are handy, Weak enough everywhere else around the pitch. Mid table .
