the best still is the "unnatural bounce" which is absurd because a balls bounce is dictated by the speed and spin on the ball in which it bounces.
I don't want to get dragged into a debate on the pitch because, like you, I find it boring, but I think it's worth pointing out that this is not true. Leaving Cert applied maths shows* that the elasticity, e, of a surface (e.g. the Oriel Park pitch) absolutely affects an object's (e.g. a ball) bounce.

* - well, it did show this when I sat the Leaving Cert. Nowadays, it probably asks you to explain the difference between the C and C/E buttons on a calculator.

Ooh applied maths for Leaving Cert is it? Nerd.

Gotta inject some manner of fact into this debate!

You can prove anything with facts.

You'd know there were LOI games this week that's for sure. A whole week without any kind of football.

Do all grass pitches have the same "elasticity" and all grass pitches bounces have the same affect on an objects bounce?
Didnt think so

Not even worth debating

Nothing to do with my post.

I was just correcting jinxy when he said bounce is solely dependent on a ball's speed and spin.

Dont forget the pressure at which the ball is inflated influencing the surface area meetind the pitch

Jesus; even on a point of proven science, Dundalk fans have to argue in favour if their pitch.

There is truly no hope.

Dundalk's pitch is the only one in the league that has actually past scientific tests relating to bounce of the ball, roll of the ball etc.

Sigh.

I know that. I'm just saying jinxy was factually wrong to imply the pitch - or any pitch - has no effect on a ball's bounce. You're even agreeing with me now.

Can we let this lie? Sorry I got involved now.

I just wonder what Dundalks fans opinion on the pitch would be if another team had it and they played on grass.

99.99% of the fans here want it gone.

Until that happens we'll keep fighting the good fight! ;)

if Richie Towell refused to play on it, I would be furious at another team getting such an outrageous advantage, and would campaign for it being outlawed (the pitch I mean not Richie Towell)

Don't be so dramatic.
