Was that after the time he left after a few weeks? I honestly can't remember at this stage.

I think it was in Scullys time here. I remember being surprised anyway from what I had seen of him on the field, without being privy to the reasons beyond that.

It was when Scully was here he had just gotten into the team and had scored one or two then he got injured and had to get surgery and left either just after he came back or before he was even back, wasn't him choosing to leave.

I wonder has Taylor talked to him at all for this year. The was a rumour about why he didn't sign in the summer but I don't want to mention it here as it is as far as I know just a rumour.

We're supposedly in talks with a winger who played around 10 games for Limerick last season. To use the term lightly and without a hint of racism, he's a black fella. Any idea who that is? No idea whether it's on loan or permanent.

I would think it's Carel Tiofack. He was an Irish Under 19 international and was over with Ipswich and Cadiz B. He doesn't look like a bad player to be honest and I would think will do a fine job for Harps in the first division. He has a lot of pace and a decent touch. He signed for us in July and got a run near the end of the season. He did ok but not enough to earn a contract renewal it seems. Nice guy too.

No sign of the Right to Dream lads. Really hope that wasn't just a load of talk from the club again.

Thats what i'd be worried about too. If it's not happening then fine just be honest and say it. They seem to be sticking by it that they are coming though.

Honestly speaking i personally wish they join soon for the pre-season... Almost about ending a second week of pre-season training and still no sign. We need updates on them.

More good news today as Patrick Nzuzi re-signs two very important signings in the last 2 days. I reckon another 2 players and we could have a very decent squad (O'Leary and a Striker).

Ya they said the budget is pretty much used up so only one more player can come in.

Is that 1 signing plus O'Leary, Coughlan and McGann? Or is it just going to be one of the three?
And any update on the Right to Dream lads? Been no word at all from the club.

McGann hasn't even been training i don't think.
Last time I asked about Right to Dream lads I was told they would be coming but have to get work permit/visas sorted so hopefully some bit of movement on that soon.

It seems that Dave came back over weight and the club are waiting to see if he can get back to match fitness before offering him a contract.

Dave would hae been offered a contract before the end of his last one otherwise he could have gone anywhere as a free agent without compensation having to be paid.

What happens if he does refuse to sign? Does compensation need to be paid for him? Or will he have to go back to junior football for the year? Bit of a mess really.

Once the club make/made him a contract offer similar or higher than his previous contract within a certain time frame then they are entitled to compensation. If no one is willing to pay compensation then I take it he can re-sign with us or go amateur and play junior soccer.

That's good, I thought a situation like Griffin to Derry could happen. And it takes us a season of arguing to get compensation for him. One side needs to back down anyway, because we'd be leaving it very late to replace someone of his quality. I don't really fancy a midfield 3 of Duggan, Rainsford and Hughes. (Not bad players by any means, but a lot of responsibility on Rainsford there)
Jofspring

I think cork have backed down. It would be too expensive even with arbitration because O'Leary has been with us since 17. Cork also have enough midfielders and good young players coming through to not have to spend on compensation.

Ah I forgot about Nzuzi in there to be honest. Still had him as a defender in my head.
I gave up on the Ghanainans. Too quiet and no updates on them. You'd have thought they'd be in for preseason to at least help them settle a bit.

Nzuzi was saying in an interview when he signed back that he was hoping to play in midfield this season (he qualified that he'd play wherever he was expected to too which was good of him).
Like you I'd be surprised to see the Right to Dream lads showing up at this stage.

Heard that Shane Clarke was interested in coming back to play for Limerick but S. Taylor never contacted him. Must not be interested in him or see him as part of his plans. Pity cos he's a local lad and would have been no harm in bringing him up pre season training to get a good look at him and see how he'd fit in.
He's a striker with a good eye for goal and the squad isnt overflowing with strikers!
Jofspring
05/02/2014, 11:33 AM
Would like to have seen Clarke get a crack at it but it seems between Cork and Limerick they have just decided to not take a gamble on him for whatever reasons.
Trialist playing tomorrow night against Galway according to the Limerick FC Facebook and Twitter accounts.

If it is that guy, in the last year he has played with Tamworth, Daventry Town & Kettering Town. Not the standard of player I thought we'd be going for.
Another Aaron Brown on the cards, playing 2/3 games with a tonne of different sides down in the conference or lower.
