Went to see Tipp Town v Clonmel Town last Sunday. Thought Clonmel Towm were really impressive. Town starting to look formidable. Big game away to BT Harps next Sunday. Also, just want to send best wishes to Muiris Walsh, heard he has had a setback in his recovery and is in hospital again. Great man

Town were poor in first half v St Kieran's today but got on top in the 2nd half. They are on a great run at the moment. Next Sunday v Celtic should be a cracker

I see on Facebook that clown Eamon Dunphy is on extra time. What is he on a local sport show? Total nonsense if you ask me. He will give him 20 minutes, yet local soccer will get barely 5. Joke

It was nice and well done Ronan. There is a rumour going around that the TSDL want nothing more to with tipp fm? Any truth in that?

Another super win for Town. Didn't play at their best but took their chances when they came. Squad will get huge boost. Unbeaten run goes on

Great win for town yesterday some crazy decisions from the ref tho on another day town could of been down to ten as for shane flynns red i think the ref was evenin things out no way was his tackle a red. Anyway great result for town looks like celtic have a real fight on there hands now cant afford to drop any more points.

Can't believe the moan fest on the Celtic webpage. Smurf handled the ball and if the ref thinks that he has to give a red and send him off. He has no other option. I'm
Not so sure he saw the Johnson handball. However, I don't think Celtic shouldn't be talking about other team players on their webpage. To be honest Shows a lack of class. They could and should have been two up before Town scored but that's sport. No need for that public rant.

Roberto

I wasn't going to bother reply to this but anyway........... 1) Are you seriously suggesting that none of the three officials saw EJ punch the ball into the goal when everyone else present did, seriously? 2) Regarding Darren Burns handball I think you need to refer to the FIFA rule book. Only a DELIBERATE handball is a yellow card offence. I think the point of the piece on their website was to query whether it was 'ball to hand' or 'hand to ball', a significant difference in this context 3) Do you know that 2 negatives make a positive in the English language I.e ' I don't think Celtic shouldn't'. I don't know what you are getting at here. You are hardly suggesting that they shouldn't name opposition goal scorers in their match reports? I think you are suggesting they said something derogatory about EJ? Any reference to the player was a factual report of what happened I.e he punched the ball into the net and FIFA deems this unsporting behaviour. What is classless about that? 4) 'Moan fest/public rant', give us a break. I think all the piece points out is that another referee could have interpreted those handballs differently.

complexman
31/10/2013, 7:28 AM
Fair point on the three officials not seeing EJ. However if the referee gives a penalty he must give a rec card. That is the accepted rule and interpretation. No need to be so arrogant about I using should instead of shouldn't. I still say a club webpage should not be used to mention other players or suggest they could/ should have been sent off. I believe that given your strong defence of the piece that you wrote it. But let's leave it there before it becomes tiresome. I've made my point, so have you. Let's move on.

Never heard that before. I've certainly seen penalties given without a player being sent off.

We have all seen penalties and players not sent off. For denying a goal scoring opportunity as happened last Sundag,it is Pony. None of us might like the rule but that's the rule at the moment. You and Roberto belong to a great club with a smashing team but when you go on with stuff like was written on your webpage, it looks very ungracious and as I said lacks class

I don't think I'm going on at all. I simply disagreed with your stance on red cards. Also I don't think he denied a goal. There were several players for both teams between Smurf and the goal.

For pete's sake can ye not take your beating and move on. Its fantastic to see Clonmel Town getting back to their best, their schoolboy teams over the past number of years have been very successful and have handed down a lot of heavy beatings along the way too, it seems to be coming to fruition, saw them this year in Palmers, very good young and promising side, bravo to them all in Clonmel! Always a classy club! When is Richie Ryan returning? Talks around are that he's signing for St Michaels when he does recover!

I was at the Celtic v Town game and as a neutral I believe the referee bottled the decision with the town player which clearly everyone saw as the town bench took him off straight away. not to say the result might have been different but fair is fair. Celtic Still created chances when down to 10 men but town had the extra advantage until they were put down to ten men. I don't understand why Waterford or surrounding league officials cant be called upon to ref big games in the T.S.D.L and like wise Tipperary officials officiate in Waterford etc. if it cost an extra few bob wouldn't it be worth it. nobody can complain about a ref being biased and both teams are getting a fair crack at it. Tommy Lewis wont let Johnny Walsh ref Clonmel Celtic games because of his affiliation with the club in previous years as a player. Tommy Lewis forgets who Paddy Keane played with and also where the man drinks an occasional pint. Hope they meet in the Munster for entertainment purposes.

Not the greatest Town v Saints game I have seen but it was an entertaining 90 minutes. Two goals from terrible defending gave Saints a 2-0 half time lead. Town pulled one back and could have equalized but Saints missed chances on the break. Overall, Saints deserving 1-2 winners at the Complex.

Agree with you about the dreadful defending. Town gifted Michaels two goals. Town missed two or three great chances in first half. Plus Town claimed a ball was over the line. I was down that end put couldn't really tell. Town much better side in 2nd half. Great goal from Richie Crowe. David McGrath missed from 6 yards after a well worked free. To be fair, Michaels defended really well but I honestly thought Town deserved at least a point. Town once again played some cracking football. Hats off to Michaels who despite the doubts of some people here and in other clubs, Michaels still have best defence around these parts and possibly in the country. Chalky and Breen were superb again. Chris Higgins and Paul Tobin weren't bad either. As you say Michaels missed one or two chances on the break that would have wrapped it up. Good crowd at the match, which was nice to see.

Peale Villa?? Just reading the various clubs Facebook pages trying to find oscar tray nor result and on villas page they talk about their U12 being the clubs first ever schoolboy side to make last 32 of a national cup, Kevin Cummins I believe his name was, Kevin I watched Ted O Connor,David Horan and Conor Walsh beaten by Lourdes Celtic, Two future Irish internationals played Barry Roche and John Lester, both were capped at youth level,Villa were very unlucky several villa sides after this were in the last 32, a side containing James O Sullivan and Timmy Purcell before they went to Belvedere were beaten in the last 16 in the tower field and also a side containing Kevin Fogarty who went on to represent Man City in the Milk cup were beaten by st Kevin's boys in a quarter final,Kevin Cummins if your chairman of the schoolboys you better read up on your history, well done to the U12 team today, future Teds and Kevin fogartys hopefully

Kevin fogarty, James, ted, timmy. None of these guys were playing at a standard of our young fellas up there now. No disrespect to those lads but they were training in mud baths just kicking a ball around. Our coaches nowadays are qualified and providing structured sessions and as a result our youngsters are technically superior to anything that came before in the club.its very exciting times

Well done to Town on a really hard fought win against Moyglass on a bog of a pitch. We knew the pitch was awful going out there. The boys did really well to battle their way through after going a goal down. Hopefully we will get a home draw in round 5. The score line doesn't do justice to Moyglass. Glengoole Utd deserve all the plaudits tonight. After knocking Town out of Munster, they knock Celtic out of FAI. Big setback for Celtic who correctly would have designs on winning the FAI. I think everyone thought they would have had enough up front to get the goals to go through. Its amazing, you can score 7,8,9 in games and then the day you want one, it doesn't come. That's the beauty of the FAI. Well done Glengoole. The return game on the by pass in the Munster, should be interesting.

Genuinely sorry to see Clonmel Celtic have withdrawn their B team. Not good for the club, the league or the local game. I also see their youths beaten 11/0 by Bansha. Tough week for the club. Just one thing, since when did junior clubs become "projects". Seriously

B team sides struggling with all clubs , maybe time fir reserve league in the tsdl, any opinion's on this ?

West Hammer
29/12/2013, 5:37 PM
To say All B Teams are struggling is wrong, Peake Villa B, Clonmel Town B, St Michaels B, Cashel B and Bansha B all having Ok seasons. I think rather than making Clubs have a youth team to have a B Team maybe if B Teams had to have say 6 players Under 21 on a panel it would do more to keep young lads playing. With the change of the age rules 3 years ago the amount of lads lost to soccer is shocking, at least in GAA they have U21 Teams to keep lads playing till they are stronger and more able for Adult games.
