Imagine they gave the job to Bennis, the club would collapse,no one would sign for him
Young O Donnell or the pet shop owner would be popular choices i would say
Cant see Connie vacating his post with the Pikeys, top manager aswell as the 2 mentioned above

What has Eddie Hickey ever achieved as a manager? Has he ever even managed a team? I hear they lost a good man in Mike Considine to Geraldines to train the team, a very good appointment for Geraldines and a loss to Fairview.

mike considine has been training underage teams in fairview for a number of years.
along with sean hehir...both of whom have contributed much to fairview underage set up...

Mike Considine and Sean Hehir are both quality trainers, they know the game inside out, and are gents also.

They trained Star last season for a period and it was no coincidence that we got our best results while they were on board, which resulted in us staying up.

Mike trained Granville for a while this season and again they got results while he was there.........this is a great appointment by The Dines and they will reap the benefits from it.

dermot finnan has been confirmed as the new manager of fairview.
that is a great boost for the club.
as we all know, rumours abound about players leaving etc.
think this appointment may sway anyone thinking of leaving to stay(and may also attract players)
there is a good committee in fairview, who are doing a lot of work both on the teams side of things, and also to the grounds itself.
think people may be pleasantly surprised when they see the place for the start of next season.
congrats to the committee and best wishes to dermot

that is quiet true( a lot of it for the worse)
but you would have to agree that he is a great appointment.
he still attending an awful lot of matches over the few years,so he would have a fair idea of who's who,not just with fairview i might add.
i would say that a lot of clubs would be delighted,as fairview are,to have him

Yep excellent manager but unless the club are prepared to give him funds to tempt top players to the club it will be a fight for 3rd while boro and pike fight it out for the title. AS you said a few players might change there mind about leaving who knows.

How did he feel about being 3rd choice for manager?

people were approached to see if they were interested in the job...
it was also advertised and others applied for it.
some people said for various reasons that they could not take it on.
dermot got the job..
hope that answers your snide comment(as you are someone who probably knows what it is like to be third choice)

Dermot Finnin doesn't manage without €€€€,everyone knows that but so what he's dead right, just curious when was last time fairview won a league,I'd say Finnin was in charge not sure though, hadn't he a stint with janesboro as well, for nothing as well of course and Park for nothing and was he in Tipp as well??

it's finnan, and yes he was the last person to win a league as far as i know.
he did manage in those places(peake villa in tipp).
as far as your comment about money, every manager is entitled to expenses to cover phone bills travel etc. and that's what he will get.
but to say that he came back to fairview for the money shows that you know nothing about the man or the club

if you read the post above you would understand.
fairview approached a few people(dermot included) to see if they would be interested in the job.
they also had advertised it,with some other people applying through that channel.
of the few people who were approached(all highly respected soccer people),they declined for various reasons.
the committee then, after interviewing several candidates, appointed dermot to the position.
so to say that he was third choice is incorrect.
hope this now puts the matter to bed once and for all

Where did I say he went back for money???what I said was he doesn't manage for nothing to which he is quiet right because it can be very expensive, and I know Dermot a lot more than you think, and good luck to him, you're always on the defensive for some reason or other and apparently you have nothing at all got to do with fairview,so stop talking balderdash for a change.

Dermot was a fantastic manager and its great to see him back involved with the club but i can't help feeling its in the wrong capacity. He should be there is some kind of committee role in my opinion. The game has progressed an awful lot since he last managed and his knowledge of young talent around Limerick must surely be questionable. Also worth noting that he inherited more or less the best team in town in his first stint from Gerry Flynn and that's not knocking his unmatched achievements but this time he inherits a team miles behind the 2 best teams in town. Hopefully he comes in and does an outstanding job but the sceptic in me thinks different.
