(Half the problem with this of course - you can have the answer, but not be able to form a clue around it!)

No, that was the point, once the chap with the big-eared mate was ruled out, then there surely was only one Noddy the clue could be referring to (apart from our beloved former Pres, maybe, at a pinch). With that in mind then, 'dark land' or 'dirty land' to 'black country' wasn't that much of a stretch. That was the theory anyway! :D
I shall retrieve me cloak.

Very, very close, Mr A. So close your own clue needn't be changed, but my first word has five letters and a couple of yours between w and k shouldn't be there. The rest is spot on.

Cheating Derry Hoorbags ? Not Bright enough to come up with a witty or hard new clue (3,5)
Close Sam.. very close.. so just the last word is wrong but sure close enough is good enough. You may run in to the swear filter on the right answer anyway. :)

Arkansas – was once, but is no longer. Seems likes somebody nicked a name. (3, 4, 2, 11)
(I think it was on Clinton’s first visit to Ireland and everybody wondered what he would call Derry. He got round all the diplomatic problems by referring to the City of Londonderry in the County of Derry, or some such construction. The cute h**r!!)
