Very unfair lads to be naming referee's on this forum - I'm sure plenty of the players involved had bad games but do not get personally slated on foot.ie. Enough verbals are dished out on matchday!!

I wouldn't call naming the ref unfair as the refs name was in the paper, on Limericksoccer.com and also up on this next to the fixture. Slating refs might be a bit a harsh alright. Some people in this city think its professional football they are playing and expect high standards. They'd want to wake up and smell the coffee, amateur players in an amateur league with amateur refs. How people expect good standards is beyond me.

Agreed Jofspring, also though, when a player plays well or gets a hat-trick or something he gets due praise on the newspaper and is added to the top-scorers list in limericksoccer.com. Fact is that when a team/player is not going too well he ain't going to blame himself so simply turns to the easy target who is there on his own without team mates and vents his frustration and blame!

I agree, how players can be slating refs for mistakes makes no sense, a player will make double the mistakes in a game and probably be told to keep the head up. The thing that is annoying is how up their own arses some of these refs are. You might ask one of them a question during a match and be given a short ignorant answer. Which doesn't help the situation. Think the referees need to talk back to these players with a bit of common sense. It doesn't be long shutting some lads up.

Take rugby, more technical game, more contact. Teams are drawing in the last minute and there's a scrum under the posts from which the ref spots a technical foul (not binding maybe or something). He blows for a penalty for the attacking team under the posts, tapped over and the game is won.Do you EVER see players surrounding the ref telling him that the decision was a disgrace and calling him all sorts with a lot of abusive language used?? No, not even at amateur/junior level. Why? It's the code of respect within the game and also may I add the very heavy disciplinary sanctions against the player and his club.I think soccer just has this tolerance at all levels to abuse the official(s) at every hands turn.Bear in mind that the huge difference of misinterpretations of the rugby rules are accepted as is the referee's final decision.

I would prefer if it was more like rugby in that respect. If only the captain could talk to the ref. The thing about it is is in rugby if a decision is made and the captain asks what it is for the ref will explain and tell the captain to talk to his team about it. In football its a case of with most refs that I made the decision now go away and don't annoy me. It has to work both ways. I would also like the extra 10 yards brought in i.e if a player gets up complaining and giving abuse the ref can bring the freekick forward an extra 10 yards or give the team that won the free the option to move 10 yards closer. Let's see how quick players will be then to give out to the ref. People watch the English Premiership way too much, they see Rooney and the likes complaining and giving abuse to the ref and try to copy it.

The ten yard thing will never happen - Imagine a direct free kick just given outside the box, some fella mouths-off, if the ref has to move it on it's got to be a penalty which is what a direct free-kick in the box is..Mayhem!! It would be some deterrent though.

No the furthest the ref could bring it would be the edge of the box. Just like in Rugby I think the furthest the ref can bring it is the 5 metre line otherwise its a try as he will be over the line. If the player does not want the ball brought to the edge of the box because it might be a disadvantage he can ask to leave the free where it is. It happens in rugby all the time and works perfectly. Usually when it happens once in a game you won't see someone complain for the rest of it.

I think this would work better than just booking a player. If you where to book players everytime they open there mouths (like a certain ref does) it can just frustrate players even more. If by mouthing you are giving the team an extra advantage players would shut up fairly fast. Also there is usually a level a player would have to be complaining to before the ref would move it on. A simple disagreement never gets the ball moved forward but shouting and complaining at the ref does.

Star Rovers 0 Charleville 2

A game of very few chances. Charleville scored an excellent 1st goal, 1-0 up at half time. Star poured forward second half but Charleville defended well and got a second goal with 25 mins to go. Very honest game of football. Must say Star's pitch is in excellent condition so well done to ye and best of luck for rest of season, ye have a nice side

Think Charleville defended very well and deserved the victory in the end, so best of luck to them for the rest of the season.
We were poor and have been playing poor for the last few games including v Charleville, our last good performance was v Carew when we won 3-1................we were lucky to beat Moyross 2-1, lucky to beat Caherconlish 2-1 and our 5-0 victory over Coonagh doesn't tell the whole story.
We need to get a few things sorted and get our full side out asap and get the finger out.

That said it was our fisrt defeat at home in a long time.

carew were better for a finish thomas but i wudnt say dominated now.it was a game of few chances in the first half.carew got 2 to corballys 1.could of went any way until corbally had a man sent off with 30mins to go.in fairness when grant scored it was always going to be an up hill battle for corbally but i think the game didnt turn carews way until o shea came on.very lively young lad who caused havoc and really opened corballys defence 2 or 3 times.in the end corbally can have no complaints, carew deserved there win.pity tho it didnt stay 11 on 11.it would have made for very interesting last half hour. carew will be hard to beat at home.best of luck to carew in the next round.credit has to go to denis griffen and pat koyce.they have signed up 7-8 very good young lads under 25 who have defo inproved carew.for a team that were in alot of trouble last few years good to see them challenging again.
