Can't Believe Swinford only scored 2 goals.

Manulla beat Castlebar 2-1, didn't see that one coming.

no major shocks from yesterday. erris having a high score against s&f. the table is taken shape with regards to top 3 and bottom 3. think its goin to the last game to decide who'll win the league and who'll join the boro. the westport vs ballina game i think will decide things. if its 2 goin down ballyheane and s&f will hav a battle on. ballyheane having a harder run in.

Its such a pity that they are going to persevere with this but then again could we have expected anything different.

So it looks like the boro, s&f, ballyheane are gone, with the last place between fahy and celtic.

shame how its 4 goin down, there's already a big enough gap between the top 3 and the rest, never mind taken 4 out and puttin 2 teams in from the premier. although maybe the 2 teams from the premier might put on a better show that some of the SL teams there already. looks like its claremorris and ballinrobe coming up.

If Ballyheane beat Celtic it will make it very interesting. Ballinrobe would struggle in the superleague never mind a 8 team division, Claremorris could do alright if they keep the same team together.

ya this weekend could have a big bearing on things, it'll open the gap bigger and i cant c teams taken the last 2 games very serious, seen as the very last SL game is in October... another great idea!!!!

The fact remains that if the league goes to a 8 team superleague it effectively is the end of rural clubs playing in the top division. We will be looking at a league dominated by town teams by sheer weight of numbers. It will be a sad day if Ballyheane and Fahy get relegated on a ill conceived idea.

and will it be ok for snugboro and s&f??? or are you saying that because they are not in the bottom 2 just in the bottom 4??

I have sympathy for any team that would be relegated in the 3rd and 4th spots, I was only singling out the rural teams as I fear that it could be a while before they get a chance to return to the top division.

Looks likes next weekends fixtures are goin to be interesting for a few clubs,

if celtic & swinford win it'll rule out ballyheane, s&f and fahy if there are 4 teams goin down.

ballina should go on to win the league if they can beat erris.

Pts
1.Ballina 41
2.Westport 40
3.Erris 40
4.manulla 25
5.Swinford 21
6.Celtic 18

8.Ballyheane 14

Ya thats it. have to agree, think this weekend will decide alot for a few teams. its a pitty no one seems to no wot the story is with regards to either 2 or 4 teams goin down. think its very unfair on the teams involved. ballina have the league in the hands if they can hold on to it.

So it looks like everything is nearly sorted in This years Super League, with Ballina beating erris all they have everything in thier own hands, win the last game and they are champions,Castlebar Celtic are safe after beating Snugboro,I was looking at there results and 8/9 games ago they were 2nd from bottom with only 3/4 points, and all the relagation issues are now sorted as well with Castlebar winning.Well done to all.

Super league: Pts
1.ballina 44
2.westport 40
3.erris 40
4.manulla 28
5.swinford 22
6.celtic 21
7.fahy 16
8.ballyheane 14
9.s&f 14
10.snugboro 2

this is the table as things stand, with westport having to play ballyheane still. ballina just needing to beat swinford in the final game. went to watch the manulla game yesterday, they were playin s&f. s&f were 2-1 up with about 3min to go. the manulla keeper came up for a corner in the last min and scored to make it 2-2. then they scored the winner after a shot took a deflection. from watching the game s&f were the better team but switched off.

so the 4 teams goin down are fahy, ballyheane,s&f and snugboro. still dont see how making this league into an 8 team league is make things better!!

Hate to throw spanner in to the works looking at the table Westport may not have alot to play for when they now play Ballyheane, Ballyheane is Westport Bogey team should Ballyheane beat westport or draw could down to last game dog fight between Fahy ballyheane to go down

Reno, the general consensus is that four teams are going down from the Super League, in which case both both Fahy and Ballyheane are gone anyway. If however they somehow decide it's two teams, then it's possible for Ballyheane to escape but they would have to take a minimum of two points from their remaining games against Erris and Westport. But, like I say; everyone has it four teams down anyway.

Lads,

small thing - if westport b catch ballinrobe and finish second in the premier division - then only 3 teams will go down in the super league - so fahy should hang onto 7th and hope westport a and b teams do them a favour! its slim but they still a chance. Ballinrobe should come up though.

The premier division is so tight with 4 points covering 3 place to 10 place,Westport could be promoted or relegated this season.

well they wont be promoted to the super league as no B team can go up. very very slim chance of westport b catching ballinrobe, all ballinrobe need is a draw and there promoted to the super league.

Well done to Ballina Town on winning the Super League. It was great that the league went down to the last game this season. By accounts it was an easy enough game for the town today against Swinford.

Went down to the last game last year too.

Think Swinford, like ourselves this time last year, had nothing to play for having stayed up already.
