World Cup 2010 Play-Off Fixture

France v Rep. Of Ireland

Stade de France, Paris

November 18th 2009, KO 8pm Local Time

We refer to your ticket application for the above fixture.

Unfortunately due to the overwhelming number of requests for tickets for this fixture we are unable to fulfil your ticket application.

In total we received requests for over 17,000 tickets, and as we have only received our entitlement of 10% of the stadium capacity (8,000 tickets) it has not been possible to facilitate all of our ticket requirements.

We appreciate your disappointment, however as with all away games, the number of tickets we receive is not within our control. Your details will be kept on file in the event that additional tickets become available at any stage and a second allocation takes place.

We would like to acknowledge and thank you for your continued support of the Irish team.

Yours in sport

Lads, I would just urge anyone who has double booked (got a mate to throw their hat into the ring for tickets aswell) to let the FAI know asap and not buy the tickets and bring them to Paris. I know a lot of this has went on, and it is understandable, but now everyone who has gotten tickets should give the others back.

I have tickets myself, over the moon, hope all those who want to go make it.

Why can you get 3 Tickets when the like of me and others can't get any, when most of the time you can usually only get 2, it just don't seem fair, By the way i am not having a go at you Wexfordman or anybody else who got more than 2 tickets, just the Fai?

Not out of the question folks

Here is my theory....See this link

http://www.viagogo.com/Sports-Tickets/Soccer/FIFA-World-Cup-Qualifications/FIFA-World-Cup-Qualifications-Ireland-Tickets/E-233706

Now consider the spaces in the stadium where no tickets are available.... Could it be that the FFF at holding back as they know they will need to offload these to the irish fans ...in the form of a 2nd allocation as they can't sell their own...maybe they did not sell off the quantity they mentioned initially????

We know that the french are selling their tickets via this website but note that in almost 1/4 of the stadium ...there is not 1 ticket available and this is also the south tribune of the stadium (The away end).....could it mean that we might get a nother round of tickets ?

just a theory ...looks like almost 1/4 of the stadium has not been offered to the French people ....i.e another chunk could be in the offing...

Again just a theory...

You might be right BB but think a shed load of French tickets have been bought by touts/chancers hoping to make a killing as will any other frnece tickets. Have a notion the touts/chancer willl end up out pocket.

Is there any pattern emerging of who has received tickets.

1) Any block-bookers with away games who have not been successful?
2) Any block-bookers without away games who have not been successful?
3) Any wait-listers with away games who have not been successful?

I can see from previous posts that some wait-listers have not been allocated tickets but it would be interesting to see if there is any consistent pattern.

I would imagine all BBs requests have been looked after. Im a WL and got my request, has any WL's been turned down?

Between this and the WL rejection letters, a pattern seems to be absent.

It looks like people either got all they applied for or nothing from the posts, did anyone apply for say 8 and get 4??

Given that most people seem to apply for far more than they require I would imagine a lot of spares will appear from people who applied for more than they needed and wont return them for fear of having their allocation cancelled.

Waiting Lister. Applied for seven, got seven. e42. I haven't been away since Wales last time out as well as San Marino but I let the FAI know that I was also applying with other people who are block bookers who had been to Montenegro and Cyprus this time.

Waiting Lister, applied for 5 and got 5. Been to 2 away games this campaign and 4 the previous. Never applied for tickets directly for these, a BBer always got them. He always included my name on the application however. I would say this was vital in me getting tickets so if anyone is buying tickets off someone, try and get them to include your name on the application.

I agree with this. I let the FAI know that all seven of the people I was applying for were waiting listers and regular croke park attendees, as well as that we had received a total of 14 tickets to a total of 4 away games in the last two campaigns combined. I'd like to think it made a difference.

I still haven't received any response yet. I applied for 6, was a BBer in the last campaign but only been to GEO away this time out.

I bought tickets on the French side but would prefer to be in with the BIG and will obviously make any spares available at cost price...

Let's hope so, though it seems a little strange. Maybe they're waiting to see how many of the ones offered are turned down by people who "doubled up" their applications, and will then put those tickets back on offer to us?

No response yet either.
The ppl in the ticket office seemed to work late on friday and probably agreed to finish the emails on monday.
With 17000 tickets applied for, thats probably a few thousand ppl to email. And every successful applicant gets their own unique booking number so that just makes the process longer.
But we should hear by lunchtime on monday, if not one of us shud ring them.
I dont hold out much hope anyway, only got to the italy game in bari.
But gonna make it into stade de france one way or another!

Galah seems to be the only WL above who didn't get tickets for Paris. Did he get his away tickets directly from the FAI?

It's pretty clear the importance of getting your own name on the FAI records for both home and away games.

I was a block-booker back in 94 and didn't get any tickets for the world cup finals from the FAI probably because i had no away record other than Italia 90 (mainly because I didn't have the resources back then to travel). As I've been to many more away games since then I have generally been successful with the FAI. I can understand the frustration of those who haven't got them yet but keep the faith - I have no doubt you will all get into the Stade de France.

Waiting lister and been to 3 away this campaign but got my rejection email. Seems to be a fairly random draw if there are people who have been to every game and didn't get anything.

Holding out some slight hope that maybe a lot of people doubled/tripled their applications to make sure and that there might be another release of tickets if some of these are not taken up.
