We started our training there last week..
Ya Willy darcy played B soccer for clough last season and seemingly does not want to play with us ( A's ) again this season.. ( His own choice ) but stupid one imo.. he will not stay with town for the season..
That Ponky lad is a good auld palyer all right.. good addition for town..

We are seemingly getting alot of players this season.. Dont know how good they are yet.. Have to wait and see..

ya i find it hard to see willie lasting myself, dont get me wrong he is a good player but imo he always likes to take the easy option i.e. playing with the b's not the a's. think if times get tough willie will jump. we hopefully have 1 vey good signing and could be a major factor in us trying to get the league back.

I was at the meeting and in fairness they are trying to give all the teams a chance to get their registration fee in, so more the clubs fault than the commitee Id say.

They reckon there will be a 3rd Division this year also. One delegate queried whether they could start the 3rd Division in September so that their hurlers would be out of the championship and they could enter a B team. Says it all really.

Birdhill never resurfaced.
What happened to Ballingarry?
Borrisokane seem to be in the 1st and 2nd, is that a typo or do they have a B team?

Im pretty happy they have reduced each division by 1 team, makes it more competitive.

thurles getting relegated because they wanted is a joke, it unfair to other teams. our B team put in second division and a team who finished 17 points ahead of them last year is in the third division, makes sense ya?????Birdhill said that they had very few players that were local and was no point especially after what happened last year.Ballingarry im not sure but i know a few of their players are in with nenagh B. Borrisokane in the 1st.

how will ballymackey go this year? we played tournament in limerick there sunday beat a strong pike rovers team 3-1, lost 2-1 to a team from shannnon and we lost i dont know cos we missed 5 one on ones and had alot of chances.

i reckon that will be close enough, i really feel we will win the league and the bottom 2 places will be between sallypark, toome and borris.

I think it is better having a smaller division , and there is no way they could repeat the joke that was the div 2 league ( way too many teams )

I agree on the smaller divisions. 2 less games will help play off the season a lot quicker hopefully.

At Ballymackey I think we will be hopeful to finish in a comfortable mid-season, maybe late season push towards promotion. We just dont have the players, so we will have to try and mould a few hurlers into soccer players.

However a lot of factors to consider, I hear Nenagh B have a very strong team this year, Arra and Thurles Town should be good enough to get promoted. Then there are the likes of Clodaigh Rangers who are strong.

For the Premier I see it this way.

Nenagh Town
Nenagh Celtic
Cloughjordan
Blackcastle
Rearcross
Sallypark
Toomevara
Borrisoleigh

Thurles will be lucky to survive in the first ,lost nearly all there good players. Nenagh B are very strong as a few of their A team players from previous years and these are very good players are playing with the B team as they do not see eye to eye with the A team manager. Also what do you think of this as there is less teams that linesman could be provided for all premier games? or for all divisions if games were fixed at 11,1 and 3. Could improve standard of refereeing and football in the league. There is enough referees and the same 3 officials could officate together for those 3 games so it would not cause confusion about where they suppose to be????what ye think??

mr. man
29/07/2009, 11:35 PM
I would love the idea of having lines men for matches but i dont think its gonna happen.. And is there really that many refs.. i would doubt it.. Some of them i would not even call refs...

By the way where are Suirside from ?? Never heard of them before..

This is the way i think Premier will end up ..

a small bit, no club outside nenagh has won the premier in over 9 years and i dont see that changing any time soon.everyone else along way behind in football terms, playing football and not kicking the leather off the ball.heard cloughjordan made a few signings from roscrea and birr, this true Mr .Man?? but both nenagh clubs has made very good signings too so i dont think cloughjordan will be able to close the gap that much.it would be great if a third team could challenge as the league getting a bit boring with both nenagh clubs dominating.u agree??

Ya we have made alot of new signings this year.. Some from ballingarry and 1 from borrisikane along with with birr and roscrea.. Also have some lads that were on the B team last year that should have been on the A team.. Its a different team than last year and my fear is that it might just take a while for us to gel.. Just have to wait and see.. The only good thing is we wont be relying on our hurlers as we seem to have a massive squad at the moment..

Obviously it would be great to see someone else challenging the top 2 and it would make it more interesting and competitive.. Blackcastle def have the potential to challenge if they keep their team together along with hopfully us , but honestly i feel it wont happen..

I think Arra were the last team to win the league outside nenagh.. Would i be right ?? They have gone back a fair bit since then..

Im sure Nenagh Celtic will beat Rearcross.

Not sure about Thurles Town vs Ballymackey. We have achieved our goal of getting the extra match practice for the league. A win would be nice for Ballymackey. I dont think Thurles Town will be any mugs, especially playing in their home pitch.

Not sure about Nenagh Celtic B v Thurles Celtic. Presume Nenagh Celtic B should be the better team.

Id say the third division will be gurtagarry anyways, they are playing well at the moment.

On the Celtic / Sallypark Match, it was a bit of a drab affair, I know Celtic were missing quite a few players, We were missing 7, and we just dont have the strenght in depth that celtic would have, I think the 5-1 scoreline flattered Celtic slightly, probably 3-1 would have been a fairer result, as we hit the crossbar had some good shots well saved and gifted them their fourth goal, and also celtic got a penalty which was a little dubious from my angle anyway.

When we have our full team back, which is going to take a couple of weeks i would expect us to be a lot closer to celtic / town. Not sure if we will be good enough to get a point or three out of them but there certainly wont be another bad scoreline like that this year.....i hope!!

sallyman what game were you at.dont mean to be ignornant but we missing five of the best players in the league and 5-1 didnt flatter us as it should have been alot more.we missed more chances and if taken could have been double figures, should have had 5,6 or more at half time.our keeper made 4 saves in whole game.as for the penalty our forward got flattened so dont see the argument there.admit our fourth goal was gifted awful mistake by your keeper and centre half.your keeper had a fine game made lots of great saves. your centre forward is a good player, miles ahead of everyone else, he a step or two ahead of rest your players who not on same level as him.

your pitch is like a match box and certaintly ye will take points there.best of luck for the rest of season.

celticlads
13/08/2009, 9:54 PM
lads all this crack about missing 5,6,7 players is all a load of **** because at the end of the day every club can only field 11 players so you need a squad not a starting team and sallyman sorry to offend you but if you havent the strength in depth we have then thats yer fault, no point in using it as an excuse. this crack of missing lads is all bull because most teams are never at full strength. we have made a good start so far and hopefully the shield will put us in good shape for the league.
on another note best wishes to derek mckenna who suffrered a bad break in the leg against nenagh town, best wishes derek from all at nenagh celtic.

Celticlads is right, you need to have a strong panel, because theres always going to be something up that will stop you having a full strength team, its all about have a squad of 16/18 players.
