Well sallyman.. We ( clough ) are playing ye saturday evening in the league and like ye we are still missing alot of players ..
What are ye expecting from this game.. Win / draw .. ??

Wonder why it is that lots of teams are missing players for the start of the season.. It seems to happen us every year..

Id say hoping for a draw but really expecting to lose mr man, were missing at least as many as mid week with holidays and lads gone traveling for the summer to the US etc.

I dont think weve been missing as many lads as this year before, wed normally be missing 2 or 3 but we really are missing a lot, im not even counting lads that are focusing on hurling in the seven missing against celtic.

@daz22
I think well agree to disagree, we had some very good chances aswell, your keeper made at least 3 - 4 really good saves and we also hit the crossbar, ye destroyed us in the first 20 - 30 minutes in fairness, we werent prepared well enough and by the time we got anyway into the game we were 3-0 down.

Yeah our centre forward is a good player alright, but to be honest our best player is paidi ryan crouch, had 19 goals in 18 games last season, mostly from midfield, hes missing for the next week or two on holidays, so hes obviously a massive loss.

@celticlads
It was daz that actually mentioned missing players, i was only chipping in with our numbers aswell. I was only stating a fact about not having the strenght in depth. Not trying to blame celtic for that at all. Its our first year in the premier, its a learning curve, im just stating our second team needs to improve to provide good cover for the A's.

@Noli
Its great to have a squad of 16 / 18, but im afraid the situation in our own club is that no one wants to be no 12, and theyre unwilling to stay turning up if they are. We dont have the underage structure in place to provide new players every year, thats coming and hopefully in the next few years we will have a youths team which will provide great competition for the senior teams. Thats a big difference between the likes of celtic / town and some of the other teams in the premier, they have good underage structures providing new talent every year.

I know the first or A team is deemed the most important team in the club but unless you have a proper structure in a club the club will always struggle, underage football is vital that the right coaches are picked and its mentored properly otherwise you will always fail in the future.

The club im involved in has at least one team if not two teams from u7 all the way thru to u16 and youths,this lets lads(and girls)develop at the right time so there not skipping building blocks in there football education.

This will mean in a few years the seniors will have a conveyor belt of lads coming thru and a point to the other poster who said no one like being no 12 well thats just tough either the lad realises that its a squad game and once the effort is put in he'll get his go because its very rare to have the same starting eleven available every week as lads have to work/hurl/holidays/family/hungover ;)

We lost 3-2 to Thurles Town, they deserved it on the balance of play. They had a lot more chances than us. After all their chances we had one chance with literally the last kick of the game but their keeper made a fine save.

On the other hand on a smaller pitch I think they would beatable.

Celtic V Town in 3 weeks time, very early in the season. be good game.who ever gets head start here puts themselves in great position in the league as MJC following week,MSC and FAI kick in after that.so one team could be playing catch up

was the 1st division final any good ,quality wise?

am just look at numerous junior clubs in general, not pointing out anyone in particular. many have no schoolboys. ardcroney are another club doing great schoolboy work. thurles town none etc. also many of these teams not teaching players to play football but just lump the ball forward.what you think??

One way around it would to simply say in 3 seasons time that unless you have an U-18 then you wont be admitted to the Premier Division.

Maybe leave it that the highest place team in the first division with an U-18 team gets promoted.

Well sallyman first win in the premier whats the ambition for the year.Clough and Blackcastle dropping points already not a good start for them.I know its early in the season but the league wont be leaving Nenagh this year either any thougths?

Have to agree with ya celticlads.. Title will staying in nenagh
We were bad against our bogey team moneygal.. 3 Nil down after 50 mins.. We got it back to 3 . 3 with 15 mins left. But then had to play with 10 men ( Player injured ). Conceded a stupid goal with 5 mins left.. our own fault we lost this..
Well done sallypark on their first premier win..

Our C team beat Kilcommon 2-1 in the Shield semi tonight, should have won by a lot more too.

it's been a great start to the season for all 3 Nenagh AFC teams, with penalties unfortunately being our undoing again with the A's.

There's a very good chance all 3 could win league titles this year.

Who scored for the C -Team ?

Tommy Mitchell got the first and McKenna scored a late winner which in truth was a cross, but considering they should have won 7/8-1 they deserved it.

Edit: forgot Mikey Duff got a cracking goal late on, it finished 3-1 Nenagh.

We play Blackcastle this weekend and its allready vital we get 3 points out of this game.. We are getting our key players back gradually which is good.
Celtic awat to rearcross might be a good game.. Hopefully rearcross might get something from this although i doubt it..
Nenagh will beat moneygal easily imo..
Sallypark to beat toome i reckon..

we should beat rearcross but they be trying to put one over after the cup final the other night.blackcastle played okay against nenagh last week and had chances to take something from that game but a draw or loss for either of ye and that both your league hopes gone after 2,3 games because of previous results.
it could be too late by the time ye get those players back as if drop more than 6-9 points in a season you wont finish in top 2.
i think ye and blackcastle will be a draw and agree with all other predictions although hope moneygall do us a favour!!!

We were poor for quite a lot of the first half, and although never really got going fully we livened up a bit in the second. Some very good finishing though.

That us out of the league now if we were ever in it that is !!
A bit unlucky again conceding 2 goals in the first half from deflected free kicks.. 2 nil down at half time gave us too much to do..
Another long season ahead of us now i feel..

Good first win last weekend, probably could have been more. But this weekend we dropped points at home to toome, who to be honest we definately should have beaten. It took us a while to get going but we scored an own goal and they got a fairly dubious penalty to be honest, we had plenty of chances, missed a penalty of our own, hit the post and had the ball cleared off the line 3 times. We need to get more consistent but the target this year is to survive and i think we will do that easily enough. I think we will definately get points off toome away and moneygall seem to be there for the taking at the moment. It looks like it will be very tight for relegation at the bottom with 7 teams on 3 points.

On the league, theres no doubt its between the two nenagh teams in my mind, they both play by far the best football so its well deserved in my book, you only have to look at how well their B & C teams are doing to know that the clubs are doing something right.

cant keep making excuses about missing lads because every team is missing players. maybe ye should have a look at the players ye have rather than blaming others for not calling it off. we all would love to go to dublin etc but the fact was there was matches on so lads need to get priorities right.

on another note town v celtic this weekend should be a cracker. any thoughts on this lads.

Andy is obviously out injured, and Willie Darcy is out(broken arm).
Other than that I think we have everyone.

As for a prediction I think we'll win but then again I would do, and I'd assume you'd think the opposite.

Hopefully the nice weather keeps up and we have good conditions for a proper game of football.

celtic and town 1 all. maybe a fair result, both sides had chances but celtic probably having the better chances and ya i am biased,some great saves from both keepers, savo from archie and aidan from kelly in particular. both sides dominated for periods on a very hot day. referees i think did okay, maybe better than normally!!!good bit of banter from both sidelines too.also best of luck to our b team in the final next sunday!!!

Ya i think a draw was a fair result ,some chances missed on both side spellman and archie.Some good football played at times but would be a bit worry that we missed a good chance in that we didnt take advantage of the extra man in the last 20 minutes but that said a good result for us away form home.

Yeah only 2003, but we have a history dating back to late 70's. We have been through a lot of mergers over the years, the most recent in 2003 when St. Olivers Boys joined with Clonmel Evergreen. Thanks for the info.
