tets; it's probably fair for me to assume I was the proximate cause of the closure of the other thread considering I did over-step the mark you set down. If so, I wouldn't like to be responsible for preventing blameless others from continuing to discuss Grealish matters if at all possible. If you wish to re-open the thread, I'll refrain from posting in it completely until either Grealish has stated his committment/long-term intentions or you permit otherwise. If not, I'll go stand in the corner and suffer my punishment and guilt. :p

linked with a free transfer to Derby this morning

seems like that would be a good move for all concerned. i wonder would it be as first choice keeper - i'd say he'd be in with a chance anyway.

Derby had been linked with David Marshall also. I think I can say with a degree of certainty that the majority of their supporters would find this pretty underwhelming. Their number one, Lee Grant, had a terrible second half to the season but was very good before Christmas. Their current number two is an inexperienced Dutch 22 year old, Kelle Roos. He has apparently looked steady on his rare outings but obviously McClaren didn't trust him enough to drop Grant despite mistake after mistake.

Very poor for one of the goals last Saturday. He'd come on for Archer who was sent off.

Still, he now has a little window with Archer suspended in which to impress.

Says Dunne: “I was with him for six, seven years. I roomed with him. His determination to win is something I never seen in a goalkeeper before. And that passion. I’ve seen him rip doors off changing room walls and seen him put his hand through tactics boards.

“Every single game, he’s like that and that makes you better because you don’t want to be on the end of one of his bollockings. I think that helped me get better as a player. That will to win and desperation to win, and I mean desperation, like Roy Keane had, that helped the team.

Which begs the question, who would buy a book about Alan Dunne?

Millwall promoted. Wonder if Forde will be given another run in the Championship?

It would seem unlikely, wouldn't it? He wasn't able to dislodge Archer at League 1 level so maybe he'd be better off if he could join Portsmouth on a permanent basis, seeing as things went so well for him there. He was selected in the League Two team of the season (http://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/10807996/efl-teams-of-the-season-announced-for-the-sky-bet-championship-league-one-and-league-two).

Recent interview with him here - https://www.londonnewsonline.co.uk/22400/david-forde-not-ruling-millwall-future-stars-portsmouth/

Edit - by the way, he fell just short of that clean sheet target of twenty matches, only managing one more after that interview to take his total for the season to nineteen.

Released by Millwall - http://www.millwallfc.co.uk/news/article/2016-17/millwall-cummings-martin-onyedinma-williams-retained-list-3724429.aspx

David Forde, one of Millwall's greatest ever goalkeepers, is also leaving having enjoyed a successful promotion-winning campaign on loan at Portsmouth during the final year of his Lions contract. The Irishman departs after a remarkable 339 appearances for the club.

One of Millwall's greatest ever? I thought wtf is that about. Who else has been in goals for Millwall?
As it turned out they had Kasey Keller for 4 seasons and Alex Stepney for 3 seasons.

So, if David slots in there at third place, that's not too shabby.

This was a list they came up with when Forde was just starting out there - https://millwallpride.wordpress.com/2009/03/05/top-5-greatest-millwall-goalkeepers/

1. Kasey Keller (1992-1996)
2. Alex Stepney (1963-1966)
3. Bryan King (1967-1975)
4. Tony Warner (1999-2004)
5. Paul Sansome (1982-1987)

They've had a nice few Republic of Ireland goalkeepers actually in the last couple of decades, all of the others only lasting a season or so - http://www.worldfootball.net/teams/millwall-fc/10/

Keith Branagan (http://www.worldfootball.net/player_summary/keith-branagan/) (1990-91)
John Donegan (http://www.worldfootball.net/player_summary/john-donegan/) (1991-92)
Nick Colgan (http://www.worldfootball.net/player_summary/nick-colgan/) (1995-96)
Terry Masterson (http://www.worldfootball.net/player_summary/terry-masterson/) (2004-05)
Graham Stack (http://www.worldfootball.net/player_summary/graham-stack/) (2004-05)

Good for him although at his age I think the use of the word "initial" is being somewhat optimistic.

It's an excellent interview.
Listening to his account of the drinking culture (behind Trap's back), I wondered if it was much more prevalent at home than away and one reason to explain why the away performances were better than at home.

I doubt that. I suspect his tactics were more suited to defending away from home than having to chase the game at home.

Ah, I'd completely misinterpreted the comment posted with the clip on Facebook: "11 clean sheets and counting for David Forde."

The way it was phrased could give one the impression that the clean sheets were tallying up consecutively. I should have double-checked. :o

All the best to him. Wonder what he'll do now - as a late developer and a Championship level goalkeeper he's not the kind of lad who's likely to have made his millions from the game.

Assuming he earned The Championship/League One/League Two average when he was playing in each one he should have earned 2.5million pounds over the last twelve years so he should have a decent nest egg set aside, assuming he was sensible with his money - and he seems like a sensible fellow.

Ryan Manning?

If he nails down a position at QPR. He played LB towards the end of last season - I don't know where he started at the weekend.

Daryl Horgan has 6 caps already - I can't see him overtaking Forde, he is unlikely to be a regular starter for us.

Started left back but I think he moved into midfield in the second half and the reports were that he played well. Has a lot of tools to make it as a good player for us in the future. Hopefully he kicks on now.

Can't see it for Horgan either.

Hopefully he has a good season - I reckon QPR could be a surprise package in the Championship this year.
