Anyway, one I heard years ago was former Shels defender Henry McKop (1995-96) was arrested on drug charges and deported!
You just don't see this colour in the league transfers threads these days:
Shelbourne
In:
-
Out:
H. McKop (deported after narcotics conviction).

Have an Urban Legend with a twist.
Derry City were funded by the IRA. As I was told by a Drogs fan many moons.
Which would mean they are part funded by Roy Keane who gives 20% of his wages to the IRA. So I was told by a Cork City fan.
Have any Derry fans heard that one?

That's true: we used to play in red and white balaclavas, our team meetings were held in country pubs and our ground was P. O'Neill Park.

I thought it was a classic! Talk about putting 1+1 together and getting 20.

Wasn't there an ex-Pat's player shot dead in Amsterdam a few years ago? Derek Dunne or something like that.
The Geoghegan story was great! It was brilliant to hear the opposition fans singing "Geoghegan robs the phones" and I remember even at one stage that a Rovers fan (I think) threw his phone at him!!! :D
Any chance one of the mods could delete all the garbage from this thread because some of it is quite enjoyable.

The Dunne thing isn't a myth though...

The 11plus education system, in the Northern Ireland region of the United Kingdom, produces the lowest levels of illiteracy in Western Europe

Yep, and they'd still run a football club better than Bohs fans

Surely that would be a good thing.....

Oh right.....I don't think it counts as an urban legend if you just think it up as you type..

As opposed to the "legends" which have got their first airings in this thread, the11plus literacy/illiteracy (you have grasped the difference at this stage micls through the assistance of your internet mates?) legend is a hoary old fable usually propagated by the likes of L`Derry MLA Gregory Campbell and Sammmy Wilson to argue for the retention of the 11 plus system.
If you want to be a pedant on this MB you should really sharpen your pencil micls

Any evidence for this Dodge? I would expecy that they would still have the begging bowls out like everyone else who has run Derry close to extinction over the years.
Are there organisational, fundraising and general business acumen among Derry fans that other clubs could tap into? We did have a Derry fan as CEO in Bohs for a short time who seemed like a nice man, is that who your referring to?
We could always try the Pats model and tie in the future of our club with the development of a skyscraper in Chicago which will only ever exist rendered in popsicle sticks and glass beads.
Here`s a quote from an architectural blog in the US
"Instead of being a beacon of luxury, the unbuilt sight is starting to become a constant reminder of the economic downturn"

There was an ad (don't know if it's still there) on the Lonemoor Road side of Brandywell for P. O'Neill Builders:p
