This thread is funny because it shows, respectively, those who know what an urban legend is and those who haven't a notion.

There were goals in the half time fans game between UCD & Longford Town.
Ah, now. I got an assist in a 2-2 draw in one of those in Belfield Park. HarpoJoyce scored. Schumi scored an OG. Granted, every single game since then has been 0-0, but still... :)

That Bohs were a decent well run Protestant club, catering for the Unionist population of Dublin, until some feckless money grabbing lower social order Papists took over in 1969 .

Well.....its a legend believed by Rovers fans anyway

As per usual Schmui all threads here turn into pot shots. Urban Legends & quips about those not liked? Meh we can lump em in together.
Anyway another one is that you can but alcohol in the Bar in Flancare Park.

I played in that one. That was the first one. I think we took the lead twice only for the Students to come back on both occasions?

Yep, that's right (said schumi )

We also got hammered 5-1 or 5-2 the last time. Bald Student, defecting, took half my tooth out with a shot. Two other games finished 0-0, and of course, let's not forget the legendary 9-6 win which started it all.

and the thing is we do't care. So what!

Bohs supporters don't care about the presbyterian origins of the club - it's only Rovers supporters who are obsessed with the religion aspect.

Its a more widespread legend than I thought!. Sadly Bohs dont have Presbyterian or reformed faith origins, the founding fathers were Jesuit educated.

Another classic legend is that there is a reference in Ulysses to a Dublin derby game played on what is now Blooms day 1906 (?)

You are missing the point. I could not give a toss if Bohs were founded by a Christian Scientists doing a bit of child sacrifice on the side. Means nothing to me.

Boh So Good - in reference to your sig - you do realise that global warming can cause a decrease in temperatures, particularly in Western Europe? For example, the melting of the ice caps reduces the temperature of the ocean and disrupts the flow of the Gulf Stream. Added into this fact is the relative inactivity of the sun at the moment - it has had one of it's quietest years in history - few sun spots and a massvie reduction in solar flare activity. This helps temporarily offset the problems caused by greenhouse gases.

By having it in your sig you make your opinion public domain. Your belief in the anti-Global Warming brigade would also seem a bit dogmatic. It seems you refuse to consider other opinions. The initial post on GW wasn't meant to be an attack on you, I was just offering an alternative viewpoint.

You are an intolerant little fellow aren't you. My sig is none of your business, you have deep rooted issues relating to people holding an opinion which does not align with yours.

It's called "Freedom of Speech" and is not an idication of a persons mental health to question anything relating to any issue. I suggest you learn to deal with your own psychological shortcomings and what it is deep within your own psyche which cannot tolerate another person's opinions.

I refuse to be drawn further into this pointless argument. I will say, once again, that it is commonplace to call someone "mad" when they express outlandish viewpoints, such as your Sporting Fingal conspiracy theory.

EDIT: To reiterate, I didn't question your mental health on the basis of your signature. It was on your NWO post.

Now I think we both know what Gordon Brown was speaking about was just that wee bit slightly different from the NWO you were talking about. And included in that samepost was this gem:

"I was wondering what the purpose behind a club so close to Dublin was, but a brand new was all along. The pieces are starting to make sense now. There is a wider agenda behind Sporting Final and it's bigger than Lusk and Rush."

Anyway, this is my last post on the matter.

Not really an Urban myth but I always kind of cringe whenever I hear " Such & such had a spell at Liverpool or Man Utd etc". If you can count spending 4 hours a day shining the first teams boots & popping out to the Chippy to get a burger for the Youth team coach "A spell".

Also any current LOI player when they are referred to as an "Irish International".

Was he the junkie who was arrested, panicked and gave Geoghegan's name as he was the only person he knew working with phones??

Anyway, one I heard years ago was former Shels defender Henry McKop (1995-96) was arrested on drug charges and deported!
