Good luck to him I think Dundalk made a god move. He was a very good manager at Sligo Rovers and it's only because he moved to Bohs and took a bunch of players that SR fans are so anti-Connors. Grow up.

I think he was treated unfairly at Bohs too. I really have no problem with the man and he should do well at Dundalk.

He was never liked in the Showgrounds long before he jumped ship. He spent more time arguing with people in the crowd then watching the game.

The terms of the job state that he will be assisted by former Dundalk player John Whyte and he must report to the board on team selection issues when requested.

This is questionable and can be interpreted as undermining him already. Does this mean the board can have a say in team selection if they want?:confused:

I don't think that is correct. Connor said at the press conference that he would be bringing in his own backroom staff in the next week. Whyte's name wasn't mentioned during the press conference..

Eh - you do remember that Gill left Dublin City during the 2004 season, while Dublin City went bust in the 2006 season..?

That I don't. Although my original post queried my call on the 2006 season bit, and when you neglected to correct it then, I assumed I was correct. Mea culpa.

I know, I seen it myself this morning.. It was rumoured that Whyte would be put in as a number 2 but I can't see it happening as Connor was quite clear that he would be free to bring in his own staff in the next week.. :ball:

Unlucky Dundalk.

The man is a bluffer, plain and simple.

I'm thankful for what he did in getting us up, but apart from that...

Snakey, weasel of a man, with no redeeming features.

If he was just a bluffer then surely he would never have got you up....

Hegarty got Harps promoted so I don't really see your point.

He is the biggest bluffer of them all.

In fairness whatever anybody says /thinks of Connor is personal and if he is a bluffer/spoofer/had players training when they were with other clubs/promised contracts and then withdrew them/had dinner date with Anne Doyle from the news or whoever...........its all silly talk when you take into account his complete exhoneration in the highest court last week ..........and if you look at his footballing record, like it or not he did win the First Division at Sligo, semifinal of a cup, left them in a better position than when he took the job.....moved onto Bohs, brought them to 3rd in his first season and one semifinal and one final as well as the players he brought to the League....example...who ever heard of Brian Murphy in Swansea reserves 2 years ago or Kudozovic/Hughes/O'Donnell/Seamus Coleman.......he must know something like him or loathe him............

But he didn't then establish them in the premier divsion, finishing in 5th place..

Don't agree look at how expensive our team was, Double the budget of the next manager at teh end of the season. Plenty of full times in the First division. Faz Kudozovic, Burns, O'Grady, O'Hara, McNamara, Cretaro and McTiernan. 2 of those players were really decent the others have proven absolute quality for him to get us up by the skin of our teeth in a terrible first division was acceptable. He was lucky with the platers we got in for him, Hughes, Turner, Peers and even Mansaram, Singh are decent. He did an ok job but like with Bohs you can't say anything other than when a new man came in both clubs improved.

Could you do yourself a favour and change your avatar back to Sligo? Despite what you might think, you aren't looking clever or funny at the moment.

OK, I cut that point a bit short, I should have added that he also had good premier seasons with Bohs and Sligo also. :)

Wonder how long it takes for him to ask that marketing bird at Dundalk out to dinner.

You come across as a silly child with some of your comments. And with the Limrick crest your confusing everyone, your hilarious.

Anyway. This is great news personnally. Having Conner back in the showgroiunds managing will be fun.
Gives us a much better chance of staying up next year because Dundalk will go straight back down.
Some peoples comments on here calling him a good manager is laughable. He is useless. We scraped into the Premier on a massive budget, and in what was a very poor quality premier division the year after we finished 5th.
Just one last word, I do feel sorry for Dundalk. Had a good man in Gill, have an excuse of a man in Connor.

Tom the Gom would be a better manager than sean connor, not mention his better dress style.
Not even tom would wear red

Hey Trainee, we can't talk about 'style' given the monstrosity we have unveiled as our 'away' jersey
