Southend player hit the ref after star going 5 nil ahead jus on half time

The ref was punched from behind by a southend player,

One of the most cowardly things i have ever seen in my life,

It was a nothing game that the ref lost all control of by making some VERY BAD calls(not that anybody deserves a slap)

Star were winning 3 nil when the southend right back was took down by a lunging tackle from behind, everyone watching including the player that made the tackle stopped waiting for the whistle but it never came,he then played on passing across the box to a guy at least 5 yards offside to tap in!!

Made rob styles look top class!

Then the soutend players surrounded the ref and he started handing out RED CARDS!!!! two in total(i think)
There would be no team in town that wouldnt have acted in the same way after the goal he left stand, and i would of love to of seen whether he would of flashed the cards to the star players had it been the other way around!
Then after it looked like it settled down he got whacked from behind (more on the shoulder)
The player that hit him should never play again but this ref was truely out of his depth !!!!
The goal should of been a free , he should of handed out yellows like every other refs does and then nothing would of happined!

I know Refs have a hard job but i frustrated by how bad the decisions he made and i have nothing to do with either teams!

it doesn't matter what the ref did or didn't do,you can't go around hitting officals, your man is in big trouble i'd say,4-5 year ban????

was it the same player who broke the flag throwing record 2 weeks ago against polonia

that flag throwing incident could have seriously injured somebody by all accounts and now this.same club, time they took some responsibility for their actions.this type of carry on has no place in our game.

this result shows that mungret aint quite up to premier standard yet in my book anyway.i think they would be better off concentrating on getting promoted than boasting about how they are good enough to match it with
and beat most premier teams.

Have to agree with you.. I take no joy in saying this but i told you so Dallas.... :D

Maybe not relegated but i think they'd find it very tough... you dont get any handy games and its very easy for fellas heads to drop if they dont get a win in a few matches...

True, they'd be very close to it though. Especially if their in the position ye are in now, having played all the top teams. Your lads must be finding it hard to have a bit of self belief at this stage. But i think ye'll come good when ye start playing the the bottom 6.

This might sound silly but despite losing our first 4 league games we're still very confident of finishing well clear of relegation. The lads attitudes have been fantastic and everyone in the team cant wait to play the sides around us. On sunday balla beat us 2nil but it was one of them games that whoever scored first would win the game... they did so the very best of luck to them in the next round..

ya, tough draw. Kilmallock gave balla a very good game aswell there two weeks ago.I would agree that i dont think ye'd be relegated, think ye'll definately be above bottom three, after that who knows.

Very true. Some Mungret guys were on here last year before they played Pike in the Lawson and were boasting about giving them a close game. Pike ended up winning 7-0. The same happened this week. Some guys never learn their lesson. ;)

I saw most of the balla v's corbally game yesterday and while I know its a cup game Corbally held their own in my opinion. They are probably missing a bit of width, another defender, and a striker. Midfield did well and more than matched balla's. Difference was the set pieces, balla were very strong in that area and as you said dared whoever scored first was going to go on and win it.

I think we have the width... we played a system yesterday that didnt really give it to us but made us strong through the middle which im sure you'll agree worked for the most part.... we are fairly shallow up front but to be fair to Mick Mcguire he puts himself about...so if any good frontmen fancy a shot give me a shout... :D

Go out to beat whats in front of ye put a bit of confidence in the lads for gods sake its a lot easier to win a match if you at least try:mad:

he wasn't there he was spotted in Ballinasloe at some fair;)

I was at the game, excuse yourself.

Star were 3-0 up after 30mins, Ref awarded Star a 4th goal (which did look offside tbh) and the Southend players started bitching at the ref, which he ignored by restarting the game.

Star forward then made a challenge from behind to try and win the ball (I wouldn't say it was a lunge either, as mentioned above) on the centre half, and the ref waved play on, at which time the forward squared across the box to another player to make it 5-0 just before half time.

Southend started again, at which time the ref sent 2 of their players off, for foul and abusive language, only for ALL the Southend sideline to come on to the filed of play and abuse the ref.

While the ref was being abused one of the 2 players that were sent off (not naming any names) ran back on to the pitch and hit the ref from behind.

The ref walked off the pitch, and was followed by most of the Southend crewe, and had to be locked into the Star Rovers clubhouse until it was safe to leave.

This was all observed by another ref (who was at the game) and I'm sure it will be reported to the LDMC.
