A little funny that the Church are getting it in the neck again this week (and deservedly so) and today we celebrate the introduction of Christianity to Ireland, and the fact we are great (Irish)
Not much into this national day of drinking myself..................................sorry
Have to say, I enjoy the craic in the States. From left to right, beginning of the session, to the end...
That last drink always does it...

There's a letter in today's Irish Times suggesting that we drop St Patrick's Day and have a 'Republic Day' instead. I am inclined to agree, don't think the National Day should be (however nominally) a religious festival.
#NeverStopNotGivingUp

oh boy I'm not good at football forums
Nothing says we're Irish more than getting hammered celebrating a Welshman.
Good evening!
I brought my young son to see the parade in Dublin City Centre.
Its certainly more of an attempt at a carnival atmosphere these days in comparison to the pathetic floats we all had to endure as kids.
The parades origins of course relate back to the strict sense of a "military parade". How short a F*cking parade would that have been?
Quoting years at random since 1975
spent this one in new york, parade was huge but tame enough.
I think its great that its latched onto around the world, anything htat identifies your country in some way has to be a good thing. From christchurch to san francisco to london this "day" is celebrated. It certainly cant be doing any harm to Ireland.
