some of the natural sleeping pills are really good and get your body into a routine...

    or

read a book til you get sleepy

    or

skulling a few shots of brandy also works okay.

Some listen to the radio or drink a warm glass of milk

I generally just concentrate on my breathing and I fall asleep soon after

exercise to tire you out (football, running...anything that gets the blood pumping quickly) or reading a book before you turn in should help. You need to get in a routine as well. Try and head to bed at the same time every night if possible.

Yeah I've had a bit of trouble sleeping after that whole "crashing the Oil Tanker" thing.

I mean, just because some no-mark "World Health Environmental Experts" claim it will take the local eco-system 30 years to recover.

Jeesh - people can be so serious.

I am shattered coz cant get a good night's sleep anymore. I wake up thinking about things I want to do work wise and then cant get back to sleep. Grrrrr.

I have tried rescue remedy sleep, lavender on my pillow, reading, hot chocolate, warm baths but my mind just wont switch off. I thought by becoming blonde it might be easier but eh no.

Generally I have one cup of coffee a day and that is usually in the morning or occasionally after I have lunch. I drink diet coke about once, maybe twice a week unless as a mixer with vodka at the weekend. I dont drink during the week and only really if am going out on a saturday nite or one beer after a home match on a friday night.

As for exercise, does running through the house trying to chase imaginary robbers out in the middle of the night count? I usually do one class a week (hip hop dancing up until recently now doing aerobics) but other than that very little.

That's me, that is. I tend to stay up later and later until finally it's morning and I get on with the rest of the day. By the end of the day I'm shattered and sleep like a log, and around I go again.

i had this for a while after i started drinking 2 cups of green tea a day, i was also getting some other problems too That stuff is seriouslly bad for you as far as im concenred. Stopped drinking it and started doing a bit of gaelic training and it did the trick alright. Im not a heavy sleeper generally, so I find myself taking a good while to get to sleep anyway, but for a while just after xmas and stuff i was only getting a couple of hours sleep a night. its really frustrating. id say do an hour of physical activity about 2 hours before you go to bed and it should do the trick.

Sex or masturbation is the key. What person does not fall asleep after an orgasm and sometimes before.

Neil McD is actually correct, for men.
It's an evolutionary thing - men are programmed to fall asleep after orgasm. (I think it is because that way they spend more time with the female and build up a bond, making them more likely to hang around and help raise the children.)
So if your having trouble sleeping just beat one out and hey presto it's zed time.

Have a look into yoga, I've been doing it the best few weeks and am seriously knackered for two nights afterwards. Swimming then adds up another two nights of proper sleep and by that stage I'm at the weekend and don't care. Sex as has been mentioned is usually good for sleepless nights, I think for male and females too, women seriously get cranky and restless if they haven't got some right?
