    League Champions 2006?

It would appear that, subject to appeal, Shels financial situation has meant their invitation to the new super-duper Delaney-ship has been rescinded.

However, it seems that Shels predicament is based on financial issues that existed (& were widely known) prior to the 2007 season Licensing application & crucially, prior to the end of last season.

Therefore whatever made them non-compliant now, also made them non-compliant last season. The only difference being that they admitted to the scale of the problem publically.

So unless I am missing something, it is clear Shels should also also be stripped of the League title.

Yeah. Put the players in the stocks outside the Brandywell while you're at it too.

I'm going to reply to this here but I think it should be merged with the massive Shels thread.

Not necessarily. I have it from a reliable source that Shels had their license withdrawn due to irregularities with their application for a license last October.

The irregularity related to an assurance given to the First Instance Committee that monies owed to players would be repaid in accordance with an agreement made with the said players. These agreement has been defaulted on and as a result the First Instance Committee decided that Shels defaulted on an assurance given to the Committee on a crucial issue in the licensing process. It was this that led to the withdrawl of their Premier Division license and they were very close to having no license at all awarded.

I'll leave this on it's own for the next 24 hours - as it's a seperate issue.

I'll merge it with the big thread tomorrow night

Yeah and we should have a 675 point deduction too and tht carries over from season to season until we work it off!

Can you not just be happy we we're ****ed out ????

You don't even know the reason yet for taking away the Premier License so hold your horses there.

Nice idea but its probably going a bit far, I`ll settle for Shels getting stripped of the League.

Intelligent response though, you covered all the points raised....

My take on this issue anyway:

Nothing can be done with the actual title until the full findings are made known.

I have no problems in the interim with the FAI bumping up the European Qualification clubs for gaining of the UEFA Licences and such (eg Derry into the CL spot, Pats, etc.)

I think that the FAI could follow the Italian example iirc and not actually award ANYONE the title for 2006 if it pans out.

I understand wages & bonuses were outstanding going back over 2 seasons in some cases. It is a requirement that no wages are outstanding for a License, therefore Shels should not have had a 2006 License.

If that's true, it's just like the Rovers situation two years ago - your financial accounts may be straight out of Jackanory and they'll turn a blind eye, but trying to pull a fast one on the Holy and Most Sacred Committee is what actually gets you in trouble.

Would feel extremely hollow for City to be awarded the league - despite Shelbourne's obvious ****y antics form last season.

No point being made Champions if you can't celebrate it. I'm not botredbout Shelbourne losing their title - I'm just 90% convinced I'd rather Derry not be awarded it instead.

And I thought Derry wanted to win it on the pitch? Strip it from us. You can't strip the memories of us winning it on the last day. We didn't celebrate when we knicked pats title and you wont celebrate knicking ours

thing is, pats were stripped of it for a clerical error. you'll be stripped of it for cheating and lying and spitting on the decency of the league in general.

    Wouldn't be celebrating anything.

As stated above, in Italian-stylee, the League should be taken off Shels and not be awarded for last season.

You cheated your way to it (whilst amusingly accusing Derry of trying to win it off the pitch at the same time) and therefore don't deserve to be Champions.

Keep your memories, thats about all you'll have.

To take the league off Shels, the FAI would have to admit a mistake.
    It won't happen.

Shelbourne won the league for 2006, they were demoted on financial grounds and not footballing grounds, and also their license for the Premier Division was for the 2007 season, has nothing to do with the 2006 season.

Shels remain PD League Champions, while presumably Derry will take their CL spot, and Waterford will take their spot in the division this season.

Based on the finishing positions last season - St Pats.

Based on potential this season - St. Pats or Bohs
