    BDO world championships

Started today at the lakeside. Anderson will be hard to beat but he never seems to play his best at the lakeside. I was surprised walton was beaten by thornton today.Nixon wouldn't be a bad bet(afaik he is 50/1) if he can beat adams in the 1st round.

Ah ya gotta love bobby george! I watched a bits of yesterdays matches and it was unbelievable the amount of times they hit 1 or 5 while aiming for the treble20, way more often than the pdc anyway. Bobby george was on newstalk saying that there is no difference in quality between the 2 organizations but thats bull imo

Really surprised that Anderson failed again, he was awful on his doubles. I think that Webster has to be favourite now, usually a really good player on form.

anderson is 10/1 to win the pdc world championships next year! He is a great player but he never seems to perform on the main stage. I have to agree was terrible on the doubles but the dutch guy took his oppertunities and finished well under pressure in the last leg of the match. Anderson odds were too short at the start of the tournament imo. Its hard to know who will win
and recently i have been wrong in everything i have predicted in darts but i wouldn't bet against adams defending his title(i jinxed him!!)

Saw him in the Grand Slam of darts and he looked perfectly happy on the big stage. Was unlucky to lose 13-11 to Taylor who was on top form in that tournament.

moody was class, delighted to get to second round and really got the crowd going, can another outsider reach a major final?

Not a lot really. A few people near the front were shouting and booing a bit when he was throwing. Didn't seem much worse than normal. He lost the rag a bit and could clearly be seen swearing in their direction and he threw one of his darts at the ground, mid throw, in anger.

I thought he overreacted, the referee asked the crowd to respect the players and told anyone who wanted to boo to head for the car park.

I have to say I think people get a bit carried away with the gap in standard to the PDC. It's not huge. It's just that the early rounds of the BDO are straight after the final of the PDC so the high quality later rounds are fresh in the minds.
Plenty of crap darts thrown in early stages of PDC too. Don't forget one of the finalists never managed an average of 90 in the tournament. One of the winners last night averaged 96 comfortably.

I said THE biggest stage and for him that is at the lakeside.

The quality tonight wasn't too bad alright its jut in the 1st round there were a lot of players playing very poor.
I must say moody is the funniest person to watch playing darts, i was gutted when he lost

Well, I do not think that averaging 76 would help his cause towards victory.

I'd be tempted to say DARYL FITTON vs TED HANKEY in the final.

    Glen Moody.................what a man, what a dancer!!
Mark Webster didn't know what was going on when Glen Moody came out dancing like party boy

Fitton has a great chance if he can keep hitting the doubles. Hankey is a similar type player, can score very heavily then fall apart on the doubles.
Fitton gained great experience making the final of the Winmau and he looks to be turning into a serious player. He comes across as a nice guy too. I'd like to see him win it, the PDC would definitely come looking if he does, he has a very good stage presence.
Top half of the draw is stronger, the winner of Adams (defending champion) and Thornton (Winmau champion) will also fancy winning the title.

all in all the standard has probably been just as good as the pdc. whitlock played quite well yesterday and will be hard to beat. Actually did whitlock and hankey have an arguement or something? I missed a bit of the game and my dad said something went on between them?!
