I can renew my objection to any guesstimates being used?

Yep. It'll be just like the olden days when there was football on.
In this new league that is setup this year, will there be official attendances produced?
We`re expecting a big crowd tonight, so we`ll see how estimates compare tomorrow.
TO TELL THE TRUTH IS REVOLUTIONARY

All of this has happened before. All of it will happen again.
I hope everyone realises that at the end of the season the FAI are going to declare themselves a great success as the average attendance in the premier league has gone up. All that will have happened is that Dublin City (no support) are gone and Rovers (good support) are back
But I don't think we should do anything at all. Keep a track of clubs who do announce figures and nothing else. Even last week when pats announce a crowd 1,600 as the official figure. People were arguing sying there was over 2,000 there. Thats a sizeable increase and IMO it happens at every game.

Fair enough, we disagree so. I find the numbers interesting, if a bit inaccurate (I suppose noone's forcing you to read them). The only problem I see is when these unofficial and inaccurate figures find there way into official documents and are presented as fact, when they should be presented as FACT...
Well thats the reasoning. People take them for gospel.

No huge problem either way with posting up unofficial figures, at least it gives a rough idea of the attendance trends at a particular club. It should have been part of the deal for the new league that every club published the correct figures, or else the FAI should have taken this on themselves. Head-in-the-sand approach does us no favours in the long-run - if the attendances are embarrassingly low that's no excuse to ignore them. Publishing them may force someone to do something about it.
Still can't get over how Genesis were allowed to use those guesstimates in their official report on the future of the league.
Oh sorry, was that a criticism
I don't care. It was ****ing stupid.

it is nice to see that sligo rovers are the third best supported team in the country. this does not say much for the dublin teams
Derry City 3.200
Cork City 2.941
Sligo Rovers 1.806.
its amazing with all this that not one league match was shown live last year despite the fact that we finished fifth.
we dont want to be seen as whingers but even galway v athlone was shown last year on TG4.
i dont think a very good season is likely for rovers but no sign of us in this years tv plans either.
before anyone mentions the cup semi-final v derry last year they were obliged to show the match
wishing all clubs and fans the best for the new year
*sigh*
