Did Rovers not do it against Limassol
Did Rovers not do it against Limassol
I too couldnt make last nights game due to bank holiday and being back at work but what a result from Bohs. I was at the two previous home ties. Keith Long has his side purring nicely. I saw an article in paper that GAA coach Phillip McMahon is helping them with their preparations. Its obviously doing the trick. I have feeling game will go to ET and maybe penos next week.
Gary Cronin is he the right man to manage Longford Town?
Because the real battle facing our league and its supporters isn't against each other - it's against the w@nkers who look down their noses at us whilst proclaiming life-long love for teams in dreary British cities that they have no connection with and would struggle to find on a map.
It's all of us and our league against those sneering arseholes.

Just reviewing your query here and checking my database. LOI sides have progressed 7 times when drawn at home first against a seeded team and failed to qualify 58 times.
Again, this is actually the 9th time in total that this situation has occured.
Perhaps that's true enough!!
So this Teuta crowd tonight appear to be away specialists , won the league in Albania last year with only 7 home wins from 18 match's and losing only 2 away matches in 18.
They backed this form up by losing at home 2 nil to the Andorrans before winning 3 nil away and losing 4 nil at home to Sheriff and only 1 nil away.
So whats a good result tonight??
I watched the matches against Inter and they did look good in patches but i think if we play well we win.
just to be clear, while mine was a pointless investigation, it was simply to see how many teams had won the first leg, not seeing how many progressed when drawn at home.
Thanks boss - would you have the list to hand, be interested to see which ones I missed out unless they were pre 96? I didn't include the Cup winners cup as i didnt have the time.Again, this is actually the 9th time in total that this situation has occured.
Here they come! It’s the charge of the “Thanks” Brigade!
Until I saw the weather forecast I thought it would be a bit of a shock if Rovers didnt t win handy enough tonight. But the south east wind and torrential rain will be whistling through the gap in the stands and at the Tallaght end, making it a difficult to control the game.
I am going for a 0-0 draw and Rovers to romp home away next week.
"According to UEFA's club rankings, Vitesse go into this game in 146th position, some 20 places behind the visitors to the GelreDome"
Interesting stat, kinda shows what a bit of experience brings you in Europe, even if it's not an equal measure.
I'm a bloke,I'm an ocker
And I really love your knockers,I'm a labourer by day,
I **** up all me pay,Watching footy on TV,
Just feed me more VB,Just pour my beer,And get my smokes, And go away
I know that this will probably unleash the wrath of WAR, the guardian of Montrose, but Bradley and Long are bang on about the RTE coverage of the domestic euro campaigns.
RTE are quite happy to starve domestic football of publicity /exposure , grudgingly throw in a few matches and then revel in the consequential low viewing figures. That is a spin and repeat cycle going on for the last few years in particular .
It really is time to forget about RTE coverage , things wont change there, and focus on other providers/ platforms.
Pretty simple, the FAI should make it clear that when negotiations come around that if RTE want to air the Irish national team game they must also air the LOI teams games in Europe.
Would be more honest for them just to drop the coverage completely, than the current sufferance of the problem child.I would think that there are a good few in the FAI who would gladly accept a bag of magic beans never mind 30 pieces of silver to remove domestic coverage from the so-called "package" with RTE.
At the start of this week I was wondering what would be the "expected" outcome co-efficient wise for the week/ties and see how it plays out statistically.
It seems a reasonable expectation from the Rovers tie would be a win and a draw (ie 1.5 for the coefficient)?
From the other 4 games what were we expecting?
2 draws out of 4?
Could we expect/hope for a 1.5 from the 4 games...? (especially now, its simply asking Dundalk to get one draw from their 2 games...)
The FAI don't own those rights, the clubs do, nothing to do with the deal for the League & Cup. Good luck with getting the clubs to bundle their own European rights in with League & Cup rights. Not going to happen.
No offence to to CSAD but this basic lack of understanding of rights feeds into the conspiracy theories about RTÉ showing LOI football (see also manager comments and the post above, not to mention the blatant untruth from joey B below)
