Sammon has no interest in moving to Derby: http://www.wigantoday.net/sport/wiga...move-1-4758081
Possible good news as Rodallego has moved to Fulham on a free, meaning Wigan's strike options will be limited next season.

edit: in fact Sammon has joined Derby on a six-month loan

He'll get heckled for that headline by Derby fans if he does move, even though that's not really what he said (was just a bland "Taking it one day at a time, doing my best for the team, focused on that" comment). Ah, football writers. Idiots.
It's blatantly obvious to anyone whose ever watched him that he won't cut it in the premiership, admire his determination to prove himself but I can't see Wigan continuing to give him chances.
According to The Telegraph, Sammon is being again linked with Derby. Don't know if this is a repeat of the earlier rumour or if there is now some truth to it. Link not available yet.
Signed for Derby: http://www.dcfc.co.uk/news/article/d...on-323213.aspx
Would explain why he wasn't even on the bench yesterday.
Another nice sign-on fee too, though presumably a pay-cut to counter that.
Steve Davies has left Derby for Bristol, so hopefully there wont be too much competition for him, he'll be a bigger fish in a smaller pond than during his time at Wigan.
UCD and Cherry Orchard should make a few quid out of this. For UCD I think he was there for two seasons so they'd get 1% of the fee- £12000. Wellvan (one of the old versions of Derry City) would be due a few quid too which would pass to any remaining creditors via the liquidator. Cherry Orchard will have done rather well out of it- a good example of a non senior club having their player go to LOI and ultimately doing very nicely out of it.

Straight into the first team for tonight's game at Bolton.
Lost 2-0, but sounds like he made a promising start. From the Derby site's match report -
Only a relatively short report, and that's all the mention he gets. Was still 0-0 when he was substituted after 70 minutes. And in the opening few minutes the Irish striker looked like he had been in the Rams’ side for months, as he teed up Craig Bryson, who could only stab an effort wide of goal, before having a chance of his own – all inside the opening four minutes.
The 25-year-old bustled past Matt Mills through on goal, however the Leicester City loanee did well to keep up with Sammon, and did just enough to put the Irishman off who fired straight at Adam Bogdan from close-range.
Off the mark for Derby, putting them 3-0 up before half time at home to Watford.
Scores again for Derby. His second since he joined.
I like high energy football. A little bit rock and roll. Many finishes instead of waiting for the perfect one.
Goal Sammon. Michael Jacobs cuts in from the left, fires in a low shot which Butland dives and pushes on to the post. The ball pops up in the air, Sammon heads in to the open goal from about eight yards out. Definitely a question of offsides there. 1-0.

Just bagged a second. Long ball comes in to the box, headed down by Jake Buxton. Sammon takes one touch on his left foot about eighteen yards out, next touch fires a low left footed shot which bounces past Jack Butland and in to the far corner.

A yard offside for the first and scuffs the second! How bad, great to see him doing well. He was buzzing in his interview after the game but he spoke well. Got motm as well. The Derby fans have had a bit of mixed reaction to him so far so that will go some way towards winning them over.
Put Derby 1-0 up at home to Leeds before Paul Green equalised on half time.
